Gateway to Northland NZ

Lovely comfortable unit right on the estuary, near to Whangarei and its lovely falls, gardens, and cafes/culture of the basin area and a short drive to the [challenging for us] walk up Mt Manaia. Would stay again. Great start to our ravels around Northland.

I wish I could have stayed longer

Lovey place to stay, I loved waking up and looking out across the water with the pukekos wandering by. Everything I needed (and more) was there. Sad I wasn't able to stay a bit longer and the weather right for an opportunity to go for a paddle.

The location and view was excellent. The bbq requires some attention. It was alittle cold in the morning but it is winter. Nice spot.

Great intro to NZ

For our first two nights in NZ, we were so pleased with this accommodation. It was comfortable, quiet and had a lovely outlook. Theo and Raewyn were friendly hosts who provided us with helpful information to find the place and also info about the region. Very happy overall.

Tranquil getaway

Excellent location, tucked away from the road and right on the waterfront. Easy drive to Town Basin and Parua Bay Tavern. Accommodation is so much better than it appears in the photos! Spotlessly clean and completely equipped with anything you should need. A rare gem!

Didnt realise its a room at the back attached to the main house not a hotel room or holiday home as such on your own but it was overnight stay so it was fine. Didnt look at much ats the tide was out most if the time so was just muddy looking. Room was warm and had everything..very comfy

About the host

I was born in the North and Theo in Holland. We both have adult children and 8 grandchildren between us. We both love the sea and never tire of the ever changing scene from our property. There is nothing nicer then coming home from a hard days work and sitting looking out at our changing view.

Why they chose this property

We were very lucky when we decided that we wanted to buy a house together. We had always wanted to live on the Whangarei Harbour but be close to work and Whangarei Township and we found our home.

What makes this property unique

A stones throw from the waters edge and yet close to all necessary amenities. Ample parking. Easy access and close to town. A good selection of bird life to watch.
