This was a lovely spot for our family get together of 8 people. The deck was perfect for sitting out on in the lovely weather we had. The area is fantastic for exploring, we enjoyed the riwaka resurgence, ngarua caves, kaiteriteri, a day walk on the abel tasman, Motueka, Neslon and of course the lovely Mapua wharf with excellent fish and chips, nice places to have a drink and taking bikes over to Rabbit island.

We loved this home!
We loved this home! The owners were lovely, and our young kids loved exploring the property - particularly the chickens and sheep which are really tame. The house is perfect - modern and clean with everything you could need. A really relaxing weekend and we will stay again if holidaying in Mapua.

The ideal place to unwind after our ( 8 adults) Abel Tasman walk.
Well designed and beautifully appointed ( thanks to Adele's flare for decor), it is maintained to a very high standard allowing us to feel totally relaxed. The house has everything you need and more, with many beautiful treasures dotted throughout. The rural setting is restful and the friendly sheep an unexpected source of entertainment. Mapua itself was a pleasant discovery, and we would definitely stay at Coppergate again :)

There were 11 of us staying together - all tall ask but Coppergate & Corrugate provided the right mix of accommodation for all of us. We had superb weather for our cycling and walking holiday so we were able to make the most of the lovely sunny deck at the front of Coppergate. The Gates has three very different and interesting accommodation options.

Thanks Debbie. Having Copper Gate (sleeps 8) and Corru Gate (sleeps 6) and Kissing Gate (sleeps 2) and The Briar Rose Suite (sleeps 3) means we can have groups like yours stay with lots of different accommodation options.
Really good location, lots to do. 3 golf courses nearby and lovely cafes. Do go into the shop just prior to turning as it has some really cool things, you'll be surprised.

Thanks for staying at Copper Gate and leaving it in such great condition. We're glad that you enjoyed your time and all the wonders the Mapua seaside village area has to offer.
What a fantastic time we had at Copper Gate! Thanks Roger and Adele, it's a beautiful spot. Peaceful and quiet, and ideally located to explore the region. Our kids loved the family sized trampoline, and feeding the sheep and chickens. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was great to know the owners were close by if we wanted to ask for any help or advice, but were very respectful of our privacy if we were happy to go under our own steam. Thanks again.

Best hosts in New Zealand, the house is amazing, the property is perfect and the views are stunning. Family of 4 loved our time at the farm and the hosts were a try wealth of information. The sheepy and chickens were a highlight for my kids, but the ease of the house and modern appliances worked for us. Also, GO SEE THE GLOW WORMS, FREE AND AWESOME. Roger mapped out the rest of our South Island road trip and it was amazing. Also their new GLAMPING site looks killer. GO THERE you won't regret it.

This was a great location for kids.
This was a great location for kids. We were two families staying at Coppergate, with each having a child under 4. Feeding the chickens and sheep each day was a highlight, and there were lots of kid friendly activities in the area. The nearby animal farm was a BIG hit!
For the adults, this was a great launching pad for hikes in Abel Tasman, bike rides to nearby wineries, and great meals down at Mapua Wharf.
We would definitely stay here again!
About the host
Hosted by Roger Waddell
Adele and Roger live elsewhere on this beautiful 7 acre property overlooking Tasman Bay. We both work nearby and we love hosting guests from all over the planet. Our passions are art, the outdoors (we are spoilt with 3 national parks on our doorstep), sustainability and life generally in NZ's sunniest and BEST region.
Why they chose this property
Roger was asked to teach Outdoor Education locally, so why not move from Auckland to this outdoors paradise? Adele continued her corporate life, telecommuting, until our children's arrival put a temporary stop to that. We now both work part-time on the property but pour our passion for creativity and guest service in to our property: The Gates Accommodation. We farm sheep, love our chickens, and grow fruit.
What makes this property unique
Near Mapua seaside village (cafes, beaches, studios, wineries). Family-friendly. Huge space. Cycle hire available nearby for the famous Great Taste Trail on our doorstep. Wow-factor design. Adele is an amazing designer - you just need to see her creative handiwork at Kissing Gate, Corru Gate and Copper Gate to understand that! Families love the farm life and exploring. Rather than being crammed into a town or suburb, why not enjoy the uniqueness of country space yet be close to cafes, restaurants, wine bars, artisans, fishing and 3 national parks?
