Organic Farm stay-Tranquil & quiet, relaxation country style
We live in the main house with 2 cottages rented out for shortstay accomodation next door. Each have their own outdoor area with barbecues for relaxing & dining. Te Awa has two queen-sized bedrooms + modern queen Ikea sofa bed in lounge/dining area Our other cottage Te Maunga next door sleeps 2 -4, 1 bedroom with same Ikea sofa bed in the lounge area. The photos hopefully tell our story- I love decorating and mix up a bit of antique with modern. Hopefully you will be very comfortable and happy here at Mahoetahi Farm. Be sure to take a walk down to our river boundary while you are here The best place on the farm! You can swim in the summer! Please help yourself to the vegetable/herb garden. We love to share our produce eggs included when plentiful. Special conditions: We like our guested to feel at home and to treat our place as their home. We value a clean smoke free environment but do permit smoking outside. We have a very friendly border collie cross Labrador dog Ricki who love playing fetch. My daughters dog is Freda still a bit of a puppy also very friendly. We also have a black & white female cat Pepper who may come & visit, many free range chickens, some racehorses in the making hopefully @ the miniature horses belong to our neighbour's...very cute especially the babies

Not the best weather but the accommodation made it even more enjoyable. Cosy inside and lovely outlook. Very quiet, birdsong and animal sounds. Just the place I needed. Owner was very friendly and offered lots of suggestions on things to do and where to go. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Sadly due to a medical event my husband and I could not stay at Gayle’s but my daughter and her partner got to stay and loved it. Beautiful accommodation in a lovely surroundings, we hope to book again and get to see it for ourselves.
Great welcoming hosts who shared their veggie herb garden and fresh eggs with us. Richie (dog) charmed us with gentleness. Landscape views are just the best. Comfort and decor elegance. I’m keen to return.
We had a very enjoyable stay with our two families. Lovely spacious cottages in the country but still close to the city and everything New Plymouth has to offer.
We enjoyed and love the place. Waking up each morning seeing the sun rises, horses eating and the peaceful surroundings is worth staying away from the busy life in Auckland.
This location is ideal when you just want quietness around you. I really enjoyed the stay with my friends there. We went on hike on the same day and it was just an ideal location to relax and it is not that far from the city. Thanks a lot that we could stay there

Very nice, peaceful and relaxing. Couldn’t ask for better owners of the property. They were friendly and great to talk with. Will definitely come back again to stay
Just what we needed, country serenity and a couple of homely touches, lovely furniture cosy and robust, lots of blankets if needed. Helpful info binder, thanks for telling us about the hidden cutlery drawer!
The cottage was beautiful on a very quiet farm.
It had everything you needed.
On a farm with amazing views but a very short drive to town.
While I went to work the family just relaxed and enjoyed some down time.
An upmarket but comfortable accommodation at Te Awa.
Hosts welcoming and met the resident chooks, friendly dogs and sleek horses.
Very relaxing and would go again!!
Thanks
Both Te Awa and Te Maunga units are modern, cosy and have everything you could possibly need for a getaway. The views and surroundings are spectacular and peaceful. The hosts are lovely and it was great being able to spend time with their dogs, cat and horses.
We will definitely be back.
The whare was ataahua. Location, decor and cleanliness was on point. My husband met the owner which he said was good to talk with her as she gave him the whakapapa of the whare. Will definitely come back and stay again. 100% top of the range. Best ever bnb I’ve stayed in.
Wow. This one was a stunner. Immaculately clean, beautiful place. Can't fault it. Even got some farm eggs from the owner. Thank you for a beautiful stay.

We really enjoyed our stay with my family. The place was everything we hoped for and more. Everything we needed was there. The house is very well equiped and decorated. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. My daughter enjoyed spending time with all the animals at the farm, but especially the dog Rikki and the chickens :). Thank you! The Wilson family.
Due to little girl breaking her wrist prior to going unfortunately unable to get back there again.
So peaceful and quiet but yet not far to werd you like to visit.
We both wanted to see wonky cat again as well as the othet animals.
Huge thanks to Gail for allowing us to visit another time.
Gayle’s place is simply divine! My group (four of us) actually discussed going up north and coming back just to enjoy the pastoral beauty and peace of Gayle’s place, which was spotlessly clean, very private and very comfortable. Because there no light pollution at night, we could star gaze, which was a lovely surprise. Gayle even left us some of her farm’s bounty to enjoy (and we did!). I didn’t actually meet Gayle, but her hospitality was very much in evidence throughout our stay. A Very Special experience.
Beautifully presented private and peaceful. All comforts, modern and lovely rural setting

About the host

Greg and I have 4 adult children most living locally. New to our family our grandchildren Arlo, Ada, Bailey & Maddie. There is a resident Cat Pepper sassy but friendly female then our dog who is famous with our guest...Ricky. Likes to fetch! You may get to meet Freida my daughter dog who comes to stay sometime...she is a Napolean mastiff & always looks sad. We have owned this property for a while Built the cottages moved in then started building our home 2017 using Hempcrete. We featured on Grand Designs NZ that year (The Hemp House) We are loving the peace and tranquillity out here and grow our own beef and have chickens for eggs, fruit trees, vegetable patches and Bees all as organic as possible. We love hosting guests from all over the world and sometimes also host WWOOFers [willing workers on organic farms] If you notice some young foreigners around the place working in the gardens etc. have a chat!
Why they chose this property
Its great has character with hills and dales the sea the river the mountain and still so close to the action
What makes this property unique
Cottage basking in the country ambience enjoy the quiet & those star filled nights with no street light to spoil the view. Amenities are new and have all the mod cons-Solar hot water and underfloor heating, double glazing. Please feel free the walk around the property (don't forget to shut the gates that you open)and say hello to the animals I especially recommend a walk down the race to the end of the farm turning right at the end and down the hill to the river where you can swim, sun bake or just read a book in the hammock. Country living but still close to all the action with New Plymouth a short 15 min drive to numerous beaches, cafes, Pukekura Park and of course the Coastal Walkway. Waitara 5 min to the New World Supermarket, the mountain 25 mins to the car park/information centre &cafe and numerous walks.
