Enjoy your stay at our idyllic Kiwi Bach situated in Raetihi which is almost halfway between the two Ruapehu ski fields. Our bach is just off SH4: - 30 mins to Turoa - 45 mins to Whakapapa - 10 mins to Ohakune.
Sleeps 13 + baby cot, Max 12 Adults - Bedroom 1 has a private ensuite - The bunk beds in bedrooms 2 and 3 are built-in, double-over-double. - The other single bunk bed in Bedroom 2 is very light-weight and only suitable for children. - Cot & high chair for a baby/toddler - Double car port - "Pod" coffee machine - 3 Room Heat Transfer system. All that lovely warmth generated by the woodfire warms the bedrooms too!
We've hired a cleaner. We tried to keep it affordable and have it as clean-as-you-go, but as you can see in the reviews, some people's cleaning wasn't up to others' standards and some just didn't clean at all. So a cleaning fee has been added. NB: You are still expected to tidy the house and do the dishes before you leave. We've also installed a dishwasher.
Book now and enjoy your stay!
You will need to bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels/pillow cases). Duvets and pillows are provided.

This was perfectly located for an event we were attending nearby. House was tidy enough and good value for money. I can see it would suit a large group of friends heading for the skifields.
Perfect quality/price ratio, we had a real good time in Das Ski Lodge .

Chilled-out place in a quiet little village — super peaceful and comfortable. Only 30 mins to Turoa and 45 mins to Whakapapa, so it’s a great base if you’re heading up the mountain. Great value and perfect for a relaxed trip!

The owners of the bach are easy to communicate with and helpful.
The bach is very cozy and gives you a homely vibe. I personally rate the area (town Raetihi) 4 out 10.Other than this every thing was good!
Positives:
It's peaceful and perfect location.
Worth for the price.
Negatives:
A bit of more cleaning required.
BBQ grill is rusted and not in use condition.
We held our family gathering (6 youths and 6 adults) here last December, and it was the best budget-friendly accommodation I could find in the area. Overall, our stay was wonderful and enjoyable. We had a comfortable, peaceful, and relaxing time.In my opinion, some of the previous reviews are not doing it justice. I saw several complaints about cleanliness, but when we visited, it was adequate for a property like this. The furniture, exterior, and interior are not modern or vibrant, but for the price, everything was more than sufficient and met all our needs. The house is small, yet it had everything we needed: 3 bedrooms, plenty of beds, 2 bathrooms, hot water, electric cooking plates and oven, TV, electric heaters, and a conventional fireplace. The kitchen had all essential utilities, and also some spices, as well as sugar and tea.A basketball court, fuel station, and small grocery shop are conveniently nearby. Ohakune, a charming small town with various attractions and indoor/outdoor activities, is just 10 minutes away. Here are a few tips for future visitors:Oven Use: Make sure to set the clock first to get the oven working.Instruction Leaflet: Check out the instructions leaflet on the notice board. It contains useful information, such as how to find wood for the fireplace.

Hi Alice, I’m providing some feedback as requested. While it’s much appreciated that accommodation like the Raetihi bach is available at low cost, and a more basic standard is expected for the price, there were a few issues. The bach was quite dirty when we arrived. We’ve left it cleaner than when we arrived, but providing some cleaning products (cloths, toilet cleaner, gloves, etc) would help future people with this. More concerning was a safety issue. The smoke alarm was left on the table and the battery was taken out, so probably expired. Also there were no batteries in any of the remote controls. Also the oven didn’t work as far as we could work out. Other items include that there was a coffee press with no plunger, and the bottom tread of the steps to the carport was very dangerous. In short, we think the bach needs a check and a good clean before the next people come in.
Great. Location if going for skiing and value for money
It’ was okay house. Price was reasonable. Got what I paid for so didn’t expected anything fancy. Had a good couple of nights with my big family. Close to skiing field and shops. Definitely recommend if you looking for something cheap and close to skiing..
The experience with this property was very bad. The property wasn’t cleaned by the previous guest and had left rubbish in the bins , beer bottles left over, stains in toilets, pee all over the seats, smelly house, and we experienced flee bites in the night.
I have mentioned the problem to Alice she acknowledged that we will receive a full refund. I have taken pictures and send it to Alice.
Hope there is no delays in refunding.

We're really sorry that the property wasn't up to standard on your stay. During summer months we rely on guests cleaning up after themselves as we don't visit the property ourselves as often. We've been back twice since your stay and cleaned the property thoroughly.
We have a cleaner go through the property after every stay during the ski season.
The house contains a lot of old, dusty and broken stuffs and furnitures that the owner should get rid of so it will be more presentable to clients. We're supposed to be on holiday chillin and having some rest but we ended up cleaning and tidying up as soon as we arrived and before we left.

Disappointed
This property had everything you need.
Would have stayed again if the house was cleaned properly.
Would definitely be worth there will to add a cleaning fee to have it done properly.
Plenty of black mould around the windows and other areas. Toilets not cleaned properly and duvets where dirty.
Well located place that served our needs well. Beds were very comfortable and the wood stove pumped out an incredible amount of heat! The wood was provided, which was awesome!
The place needs a deep clean though and there is quite a bit of old groceries in the cupboards. Previous guests obviously had a party at some point with confetti bits on and under furniture. Place could do with new bedding and crockery.
Very warm house. Quite area. Two bathrooms convinent. The house has everything you need to be away from home. A deep clean and decent remotes would accentuate the stay. The game is broken.
The fire area was perfect THANKYOU for all the wood.
Firstly want to start with the positives.
Great location, warm and loved the double bed bunks !!
Only down fall was the house was not clean. Toilets not clean last person skids left in bowl, Food spilled on floor, Toaster not working and rubbish from last person still in rubbish bin. We took ours and did use the bin, Blood stain on the mattress protector in main bedroom and duvets were all just thrown on the beds so looked messy.
Cot is broken and dangerous as missing a bar and child could get their head stuck.
Good basic bach for a short stay, complete with a neighbourhood cat. Comfortable beds. Quiet location down a driveway with a carport. Didn't need to use the fire but looked like it would pump out a good amount of heat and be great for drying out ski gear. Good communication from the owner. Well-priced.
