About this property

Welcome to The Back Paddock

Enjoy the wonderful wine village of Martinborough in our 1920's relocated farm cottage. Offering peaceful views of the surrounding farmland, The Back Paddock gives a unique sense of rural life, yet is only 1km from Martinborough township.

Enjoy a wine from one of the many local vineyards on our deck, or a cup of tea in front of our cozy woodburner. Our spacious open-plan living room and kitchen allows for entertaining and creates a comfortable, spacious environment. The kitchen is equipped with high-quality appliances, including a bread maker and with the BBQ on the deck you can choose to entertain, relax and eat at the cottage, or go out and experience the local Martinborough restaurants and pubs..
We recommend that you take a moment to view the vast, unpolluted night sky which on a clear night is simply stunning.

The Back Paddock offers wheelchair friendly parking and access ramp, as well as accessible bathroom facilities.
A second toilet reminiscent of the original 1920's design can be accessed from the deck. The Back Paddock can comfortably accommodate three couples or a family of four. A continental breakfast (cereals, bread) is provided, plus everything you need to make your own bread! (Set it up the night before and wake up in the morning to the wonderful smell of freshly made bread).

Martinborough offers many entertaining events throughout the year, such as the annual February and March fairs (one of the biggest annual fairs in the Southern Hemisphere!) , the Round The Vines walk/run also in March. and In November the infamous Toast Martinborough. The area is great for cycling and has many wonderful walks too. For more information about the Wairarapa and whats on visit: wairarapanz.com

Amazing rural getaway in Martinborough
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely gem! The bach is just gorgeous, very comfy even on a cold morning thanks to the woodburner. We couldn’t enjoy the many outdoor areas as it was too cold, but this place must be as pleasant in summer as it was for us. Both beds were really comfortable, nice hot shower and a very well equipped kitchen. Indeed a true gem!

Great location and thoughtful host
Second time staying here, this time it was for our wedding. The property is well set up and comfortable and the host goes above and beyond to make the stay special - treats in the fridge, fresh flowers on the table. Highly recommend.
