About this property

Escape to peaceful Putney Vermont

Welcome to 'The Cottage' a sweet 2 bedroom, full bath, cozy getaway set in a rural yet easy to access location on The Friendship Loop in Putney. This completely renovated cottage features wide plank pine floors, brand new dreamy kitchen and bath and freshly painted walls. You will enjoy the lush surrounding gardens including a kitchen garden out your front door.

The Cottage has a large living room for sprawling out and doing puzzles, reading or playing games. The kitchen is an eat-in state of the art space with full size refrigerator , 5 burner gas stove and deep farmhouse sink. It is well stocked for all of your cooking needs.

Our home is on the property. We are available to help with your needs, to recommend local walking routes and hikes as well as restaurants, festivals and other interesting happenings. Although we are close by, we value your privacy.

The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood. Just a short walk (less than a 1/4 mile) to the center of Putney is a well loved general store, a bookstore and coffee shop, a diner and a farm to table restaurant. A bit further down the road is a fully stocked co-op featuring local produce and groceries, a post office, a library, a bank and a gas station. Putney is also the home to The Next Stage Arts Center which hosts live music, theater, movies, art exhibitions and story telling. Next door is the Sandglass Theater well known world wide for it's puppet artistry. Summer in Putney is full of music thanks to The Yellow Barn's chamber music festival and the outdoor monthly concerts on the common.

Perfect for Landmark Visit
The cottage is great. Spotlessly clean. Thoughtfully well stocked. Pretty. Flexible check-in and out. Five minutes from Landmark. I just tried to book it again for next month but I was too late. We'll be back (or try, anyway).

Vacation stay
The cottage was beautiful, very cosy and comfortable, the location was within walking distance of the small town. In town there was a nice diner we had lunch and breakfast, a general store very cute and also had homemade food and groceries ect.. we did not visit the coop in the town but did do a wine tasting at the local winery also very nice. From the cottage there were walking trails that were very nice through the woods. We had a grea stay highly recommend staying here

Lovely!
My wife and I stayed for a short weekend as we visited out daughter at Landmark College. Very convenient to everythnig. The cottage is perfect and well appointed. Terri was a gracious host - although we didn't need anything during out stay, she was extremely attentive and available. Highly recommend.

About the host

Host profile image
I live in Southern Vermont with my husband and cat. I’m a retired caterer but still an avid cook. My summers are spent in the gardens both vegetable and flower. If you don’t find me in the garden I’ll be out on the river in a kayak or riding my bike. Winters I like cozying up to the wood-stove, tromping around the woods on snowshoes or gliding across a field on my cross country skis.

Why they chose this property

If you're interested in a Putney stay, you couldn’t find a nicer, more convenient place to roost. This adorable cottage is on a quiet road and only a short walk to town. It is set amidst beautifully landscaped gardens.

What makes this property unique

Putney and Southern Vermont have a lot to offer from the arts to the outdoors, there's something for everyone here.
