MooseTracks Cottage | Waterfront | Walk to Dorset
New Listing | Friday to Friday Booking, Pets Welcome!!
A true Muskoka original on Lake of Bays: classic log-cottage charm with a moose-lodge interior, granite kitchen, and 244’ of waterfront on LAKE OF BAYS. Sleep 8 (3 bedrooms + queen bunkie), dine in the lakeside gazebo, swim off the dock, and end nights by the campfire. Linens and towels included. Dog-friendly, parking, and you can walk/kayak/boat into Dorset for bagels, ice cream, and wood-fired pizza. Close to Hwy 35 for easy access.
The space
Welcome to a true Muskoka original — a classic log cottage with iconic character, standout landscaping, and a life-size moose in the yard (your unofficial greeter).
Inside, you’ll find warm “moose lodge” style with log furnishings and thoughtful touches throughout, plus modern updates like granite countertops and a fully stocked kitchen that’s made for real meals, big breakfasts, and late-night snacks and the rare perk of boating or walking straight into Dorset for pizza, bagels, and ice cream.
This cottage is available for peak summer stays in July and August, when Lake of Bays is at its best — long lake days, dock time, campfires, and sunset dinners in the gazebo.
Booking format: 7-night minimum, Friday-to-Friday turnovers. (So you get a full, classic cottage week — the best kind.)
Sleeping (8 guests)
- Bedroom 1: King bed
- Bedroom 2: Double bed
- Bedroom 3: Queen bed
- Bunkie: Queen bed (additional sleeping space)
Waterfront & outdoor living
Step outside to 244 feet of Lake of Bays frontage in Little Trading Bay — with calm water views, beautiful shoreline, and multiple spots to settle in:
Dock for swimming and lounging
Campfire area for starry nights
Gazebo with dining for lakeside meals
Gorgeous landscaped grounds and pathways (and yes, the moose lives out there, perfect for iconic Muskoka family pictures! )
Walkable Dorset access (rare perk!)
One of the best parts of this location: you can walk, kayak, or boat right into Dorset for ice cream, essentials, and small-town fun. Pizza on Earth is in walking distance for wood-fired pizza, and the Dorset Lookout Tower trails are directly across the street for exploring.
Boat launch + trailer-friendly
The public boat launch is a 1-minute drive at Dorset Parkette, and there’s lots of parking with space for a trailer.
Comfort & amenities
Wi-Fi
No A/C — the cottage stays comfortable with lake breeze, shade, and classic Muskoka airflow
Propane fireplace is decorative only in summer and will remain off during warm-weather stays
We provide linens, bath towels, and lake towels
Shampoo + conditioner
Cooking basics: coffee, oil, salt, pepper, vinegar, and spices
Fully stocked kitchen
Pet-friendly
Bring the dogs — we allow up to 2 medium/large dogs (under 80 lbs).
Good to know
The cottage is located near Hwy 35, so you may hear some road noise outdoors at times. The trade-off is unbeatable access to Dorset, the trails, and the boat launch — plus the convenience of being able to walk or paddle into town.
Managed by Dorset Ontario Cottage Rental (DOCR) — a truly local hosting team (not a call centre). We’ll set you up with a welcome basket, a curated guidebook, and insider tips (yes, including where to fish and what to throw). We handle the practical stuff like garbage and smooth check-ins, and we’re big on friendly, fast communication so your vacation feels easy, cared-for, and better than you pictured.
