The moment you walk in the door you are punched in the face with the worst mildew / mold odor. It was a holiday weekend and we were stuck staying here until Sunday when we found another place to stay. We only spent the night to sleep. Even trying to sleep was difficult with the horrible stench that permeated everything, bedding, etc. There is an attached garage that is absolutely disgusting and dangerous with torn up fiberglass insulation everywhere. The back patio was un usable everything is covered in green slime. The front patio is small and the chairs are broken and some handyman put drywall screws in it to hold it together. We are small people and almost fell to the ground the first time we sat in it. The laundry room is a joke. You can't even open the doors to get clothes in or out. There was visible mold / mildew in the master closet walls. It was possibly the worst place we have ever stayed. Its a small town and accommodations are limited especially while we visited during labor day. The TV in master bedroom doesn't have an outlet to plug it in. There were raccoons or rats in the attic all night. The owners were going to refund our money for the last night we didn't stay and haven't yet.

roscommon thoughts

Generally very fine with some minor problems. the TV can only be used with a tenant generated hot spot. Having never done that before, it was confusing. As newly renovated, the second bathroom needs a miror. The porch light was not working which made coming home after dark a bit difficult

Very nice property

Overall a very beautiful home and the owner was great to work with. Had a minor bit of confusion but I will take responsibility for that. I thought there was Wi-Fi but there is not. It is also about 15 miles from the lake and again that was my fault for misunderstanding. It is in a cute community with a very nice farmers market. The neighborhood was very nice and very quiet and homey. I would definitely stay there again!

Annual kayaking trip

The house was perfect for our group. The kids enjoyed the pull out bed. The master bed is a little too high, but we managed. We could have used a few fans as it got hot and no air conditioning, but it was only an issue 1 night. The breeze through the windows cooled us the other nights. The location was great between town and our family. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay 8/2021

We really enjoyed staying here, the home was beautiful and very roomy. I texted the owner and she replied quickly. We had no issues with the house at all and look forward to staying there again in the near future. The Only thing is the house has no air conditioner, but we bought a couple of fans and it worked out well for everyone!!

About the host

Hosted by Noel Karrer

Host profile image
Recently retired registered nurse, managing 6 rental homes in the suburban Detroit area but decided to buy a home in Roscommon because we always vacationed there when I was a child. I enjoy the friendly people and the relaxed pace, yet there is a lot of activity, recreation, good restaurants, a home grown farmers market, and quaint shops in the downtown area. It is an easy drive to Traverse City, Mackinac, Hartwick Pines, Cadillac, and many others.
