About this property
Light-Filled Log Home, 4 Wooded Acres, & Lake Access. The water is 0.4 mi away.
A quintessential Maine retreat, filled with the natural beauty of wood and sunlight and all the comforts you desire. Enjoy your coffee on the deck, breakfast on the screened porch, and a dip into David Pond any time you like(well, in the winter you can ice fish and snowshoe) just a short walk down the road, 4/10 of a mile away to the association’s common area on the lake, David Pond. Treat yourself to true quiet, true darkness, and stars so bright you feel that you can almost touch them.
This beautiful log cabin sits on four wooded acres surrounded by hundreds more, with lakes in every direction. Sunlight streams into the gracious main floor through large trapezoidal windows above and two sliding doors to the generous wrap-around deck. The living area is open space concept, kitchen-dining-living, with a majestic cathedral ceiling and an adjacent furnished screen porch/sunroom. Also on the main floor is a bedroom with a log double bed and single bunk above, the main bathroom, and a 24 inch TV for keeping up with the news while you make dinner.
Upstairs in the master bedroom, wake up in your comfy log queen bed and catch the sunrise through the upper windows. Enjoy your own half-bath, sitting room with loveseat that opens to a single bed, with plenty of room for a pack 'n play if needed. A highchair, crib, toddler bed, and various other baby items are available upon your request. All closets and dressers are fully available for your use throughout the house.
On the lower level, but still above ground, is a large family room(or third bedroom) with a double futon, 48 inch TV with sound bar, DVD player and small DVD library. From there a doorway to the outside takes you to the front lawn on the right, or to the outdoor shower with a wooden privacy screen on the left. If you have never taken a shower under the sky, you are in for a treat! Of course there is a shower inside as well.
From the house you can walk, mountain bike, snowshoe, or cross country ski through a beautiful conservation area forest to Basin Pond and beyond. Nearby are many established and maintained well-marked hiking trails, snowmobile trails, mountains to climb, golf courses, lakes for boating, and even a wild animal park. You'll enjoy a sense of peace and seculsion while knowing that you can still hop in the car and go out to a great coffee spot if you wish. The Olde Post Office Cafe is only a 10 minute drive north in quaint Mount Vernon village written up in DownEast magazine. The Apple Shed Bakery is 6 miles in the other direction, in the village of Kents Hill, with a wide assortment of bakery treats, ice cream, gormet premade dinners, gifts, wine, beer, handmade jellies and jambs and stoneware, breads, coffee, farmfresh yogurts, and milk items, pizza, lobster rolls on summer weekends, and much more.
Extensive shopping is available at two Augusta exits from I95, Exits 109 and 112(25 minutes away) as well as a vast array of restaurants and an award winning health club and spa. Freeport, home of L.L. Bean and a host of other outlet stores, is 45 minutes south. A trip to the coast, or to Portland, or to Sugarloaf ski area takes about 90 minutes. Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Baxter State Park are farther away but worth the ride.
You will emerge from this vacation rested and refreshed, having seen stars brighter than you can remember. You will leave the state truly understanding the highway sign slogan at the border that reads, "Maine, worth a visit, worth a lifetime".

About the host
Hosted by Rock & Jenn Eisenheim

Our last name, Eisenheim, means Iron Home. We are a family of 6 and live in MA, but love Maine and get up here as often as possible. We owned another piece of property in Maine since 2012. We recently purchased the Log Home or as we(I) like to call it 'Iron Home'. We are excited to start building memories here and we wish the same for you. Rock(and Jenn)
