Beautiful area, perfect cabin filled with local art and lots of attention to detail. We had such a relaxing time; able to visit with family and friends in Bedford and at Smith Mountain Lake. Highly recommend!
A lovely cabin and experience overall! Well equipped, with several extra touches that made it even more special. We enjoyed the peacefulness and nature. Easy location for many day trips to local hiking, canoeing, etc. Would stay again!
Great location for visiting Roanoke area… did several day trips to local spots. Beautiful setting with view of Blue Ridge mountains in the distance and rolling pastures close by. Cabin was cozy but spacious with everything we needed for a few days stay! My pup loved the walks on the property. Julie was excellent with communication and available with any help needed!
Restful retreat in a peaceful setting. The cabin is lovely inside. I loved that the owners displayed paintings and pottery from local artists. We spent a lot of time enjoying the great views from the back deck and our puppy loved the open backyard. The owners made check in so easy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to stay again. Highly recommend Julie's Cabin.
The cabin was everything we were hoping for...secluded, peaceful and cozy. We had a wonderful family get-away weekend. The view off of the back deck was amazing; we enjoyed sitting in the yard to watch the cows. The owner was excellent! She checked in with us to be sure we had everything we needed and was very prompt responding to our questions. We will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area!
Peace ,quiet, and restful , amid a mountain backdrop and a majestic pastoral panarama....stay here or miss out on what will help make your life on earth worth living.
We stayed here for two months after a house fire. Beautiful setting and very private. We felt very much at home. Julie was very easy to communicate with and even sent flowers to me when I had to put my horse down while staying there. Will book here again if lots of family come to visit. Highly recommend.
Due to a temporary situation we didn’t have room for our adult children to be with us for Christmas. We were able to stay in this cabin over Christmas so we could all be together, and it was perfect! The kitchen is complete so we could prepare our own meals, and the gas logs made it so comfortable and cozy. There was even a short snow shower on Christmas morning! I would love to stay there again sometime!
Our family wanted to renew a former tradition of visiting the Peaks of Otter. We rented Julie's cabin as a nearby home-base during our visit. It was lovely! The property is located in a private, quiet rural setting. We enjoyed evening on the porch watching the fireflies flittering in the yard. Sleeping arrangements were comfortable for our group of 4 adults and a two-year old. Julie was in communication with me regarding our visit and I appreciated her kindness.
Such an incredible view of the peaks of otter and the surrounding farm. Our dog absolutely loves it here, too. The stars and fireflies are incredible! We love to make a little bed on the back deck for stargazing and chilling on the rockers on the front porch is perfect during the heat of the day. Very well appointed kitchen and comfy living area. I love the local art and suggested area activities like peaks of otter winery, abbot lake, and Emerson creek pottery. The tub upstairs is quite luxurious! Plenty of room for 3 adult couples, though we’ve only gone as a couple for the last two visits and that’s perfect too. As soon as you pull up the half mile gravel drive you can feel the worries of the world melt away and the pace of life slow down. Julie is a fantastic host, checking in yet not intrusive.
Julie’s place was great
Very clean
Fully stocked with everything you could possibly need
Very relaxing place to get away!
Julie was always immediately available and checked in on us periodically to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and to see if we needed anything!
Highly recommend!
A beautiful secluded setting for a relaxing getaway.
Property is a wonderful fit for one or two couples (six people would be pushing the capacity of the common living/dining area). Full baths on both levels is a plus, and upstairs bath has a Jacuzzi tub for after those long hikes! A great place to bring along a pet who is a well- mannered traveler and does well hiking off lead. Great front porch and a rear deck with a small gas fire pit and grill. Also the option of using a wood-burning fire pit in the side yard. A gas fireplace in the main room adds to the coziness of the living area. Beautiful views from the cabin which is nestled in a secluded corner at the end of the main drive, backing up to a working farm. Convenient to hiking in the Peaks of Otter Area which offers opportunities for climbs & hikes with different levels of difficulty from easy to fairly strenuous.
Fall colors throughout the region are simply spectacular.
Julie's communication is excellent, and there were no problems or glitches with the process of checking in & out!
My husband and I stayed here while visiting our college son. It was the perfect place to be able to unwind after a busy day and relax in a comfy home with beautiful views and sounds of nature. We will definitely come back!
We just returned from our trip to Virginia. Both my husband and I have relatives in Lynchburg and Richmond that we visit several times a year. This year we have a new family member who likes to shout out to the world that he has arrived. Of course, this would not work at a hotel so we decided on a cabin rental and we were not disappointed. Julie's cabin is exceptional. From the moment we left and throughout our stay, Julie was communicative and ready to help should we need anything. We got to the cabin late in the evening but her directions were spot on. The place was clean and welcoming with a sweet note and some chocolate chip cookies to bake in the refrigerator along with a selection of snacks on the counter.
We have stayed at several rental properties throughout the years and this by far was the best. It was well stocked with kitchen supplies and an abundant amount of information to answer all your questions along with a list of places to purchase needed items. We wanted for nothing and most importantly for me, I did not have to clean prior to use.
The truly wonderful part, was my teenage daughter wanted to go back to the cabin to spend time. She had a special affinity for a particular red cow that wandered up every now and then. This allowed us to take a few minutes and relax which we rarely have a chance to do.
It is truly a great place to unwind and find some peace.
Thank you, Julie - we truly appreciate your attention to detail and the atmosphere that you have created with your cabin.
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful weekend away at Julie's Cabin in Bedford, Va! Julie is by far the best host we have worked with in all the years we have been renting vacation properties! We have rented properties all over the country and Julie has been hands down the most gracious, responsive, supportive host we have had. Her communication is FAST and helpful and she is just so kind. I really can't say enough about Julie as the host of this VRBO property!
The Cabin is delightful. Private and secluded, which is just what we were looking for. A very quaint, adorable place with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals just like when we are at "home". The dining table is great with a built in lazy Susan and a great view of the beautiful backyard. The family room is cozy and comfortable. The fireplace is the centerpiece of the home and the 2 story family room was very relaxing to spend time in and hang out whether it was to play games, read, watch tv, or just relax and enjoy the quiet. The "quiet" is amazing! If you are looking to get away from city life or a hectic lifestyle and just want to unwind, this is your place! You are surrounded by nothing but farmland and woods and it is a great place to kick back, relax and not have a worry in the world!
The 3 bedrooms are all cozy. Beds are comfy, pillows are very nice, there are closets and suitcase racks if you need them. A great place for a family with multiple kids, several couples, a girls' weekend or several generations for a family get together.
Bathrooms are nice with great quality towels and nice HOT water for a relaxing shower or a bath!
All rooms have a beautiful view of the glorious outdoors. The mountain views are so pretty, the farmland is lovely and we enjoyed our walk "through the woods" down the private drive several times a day with our dogs who loved it just as much as we did!
We loved having the cows are our neighbors each day we were there! They are so fun to watch as they go back and forth across the farm each day. Hearing the MOOOOS was one of the highlights of our stay! :)
We saw lots of deer every day of our stay. The last day as if to say goodbye, a group of about 6 of them came running out of the woods by the cabin and sprinted across the fields of the farm until they reached the woods on the other side. It was a beautiful site!
We had a glorious time and I have no doubt you will too! :)
This is a very beautiful and comfortable cabin. Everything was provided, even more than you would expect like shampoos, toothpaste, firewood, cleaning products and paper products. Our dog loved being out of the city and getting to run off-leash in the yard and then nap on the porch.
