About this property

This home is a true ski-in/ski-out home for winter skiing at Shanty Creek's Schuss Mountain, and a wonderful lodge retreat for spring, summer and fall for a family gathering or just an opportunity to chill out and enjoy a great view! This classic Hamill chalet is the perfect place to enjoy a vacation with your family.

You can ski directly from Queens Corner to the door of the lodge and enjoy great views from the decks and large windows in the living area. In the summer, you can see for miles. It's just a minute to the 6 local golf courses and Bellaire (Shorts, Hello Vino, Corner Bistro etc) - all less than 10 minutes from the house.

With 3100 sq ft. and 4 bedrooms the home sleeps 13 in beds. It offers 3 full baths, an open living/dining/kitchen on the main floor and a family room and sauna in the lower level, 2 flat screen TVs, 2 wood burning fireplaces and an outdoor fire-pit, laundry, satellite and wifi. Kitchen is fully stocked with spices, condiments, coffee maker, waffle iron and crock pot! We want this to be your home away from home.

Centrally located to Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix, Torch Lake, you can feel like a local and enjoy lots of nearby day trip activities including winery tours (Roadrunner Tours in Bellaire our local go to tour bus), hiking, mountain biking, skiing of all kinds, fishing or simple relaxation while grilling on the fabulous deck. Boat rentals are nearby, including power boats, personal watercraft, canoes and kayaks.

Schuss Mountain and the surrounding area gets a lot of snow. We make every effort to keep the driveway plowed when it snows, however the roads can get deep snow and 4WD is highly recommended if not required during the ski season.

**Please note cancellation policy. Being one of the very few slope side larger homes we book 100% capacity well in advance during the busy season (winter/summer). IF a cancellation cannot be avoided, we will do our best to try and rebook. If we are able to rebook, we will refund 100% (minus admin fee).

Great Place

Our group has rented here before and the house didn’t disappoint! Shannon was great to work with. The house was great for our group! The we loved the new chairs in the basement and the kitchen was the perfect size. Can’t wait to stay here again next year!

Short Stop Success

We rented this gem last year for a ski weekend and came back again for Superbowl Weekend this year. Had three families with kids and it was perfect. Had a slight snafu with the WiFi upon arrival and the owners got back to me within the hour to fix the problem! Plenty of room and so great we never had to drive anywhere all weekend. Kids had a blast with the game room downstairs and so did the adults! Will book again for sure!

Mike and I first purchased in the Schuss Mt area in 2012 and instantly fell in love with the community and local activities available. After remodeling another property in the area, we kept our eyes open for a true ski in/ski out. We were lucky enough to purchase this property in 2017 and have been slowly updating to bring all creature comforts to those that share our cabin!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the location (one of the few true Ski in/Ski outs) - with amazing views of the slopes and fall foliage. Things got even better once we learned about the history: The house was previously owned by Mickey Stanley who played for the Tigers and had a pivotal role in helping them win the 1968 world series as they asked him to come in from the outfield and step in as "shortstop". Being that we are also huge fans of the local brewery SHORTS and the very nature of rentals being for a short stay - we immediately named our cabin "Short Stop Lodge"
