Why they chose this property
Amador County is home to some of the oldest grapevines in California and has many charming wineries scattered throughout the region. The Shenandoah Valley is home to some of the best Zinfandel varietals in the country. Eater San Francisco recently published a California Gold Country Guide (available at https://sf.eater.com/23125363/california-gold-country-guide).
The guide features several local spots, including Amador County’s only natural winery, The End of Nowhere, which has established a vineyard just a few miles from our property in Pioneer and has a tasting room in Amador City, about 35 minutes away. The guide also highlights Break Even Beermakers, which has a brewery, taproom and kitchen in Amador City.
Other nearby towns worth visiting include:
Volcano (~20 minutes away), which is rich with Gold Rush history and boasts California's first circulating library and one of the longest running general stores in the State.
Sutter Creek (~30 min away) is a charming historical town founded during the Gold Rush and has several restaurants, tasting rooms, and boutique shopping.
Plymouth (~45 minutes away) is the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley wine scene with fantastic tasting rooms and restaurants.
For outdoor recreation (hiking and snow-play), Bear Creek Reservoir (~20 minutes), Iron Mountain Sno-Park (~30 minutes), Silver Lake (~40 minutes), and Kirkwood Mountain Resort (~50 minutes) are all located east on Hwy 88 up the mountain. The south shore of Lake Tahoe is a little over an hour drive.
We also love exploring Indian Grinding Rock State Historical Park and Black Chasm Cavern National Natural Landmark, both about 20 minutes away near the town of Volcano.
What makes this property unique
Peaceful resort property with heated pool, six person hot tub, three summer cabins, a treehouse with climbing wall, and an amphitheater.
