Check out our last remaining openings as of 8/7/2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of great late summer weather and all South Haven has to offer at lower nightly rates and reduced nightly minimums during the leisurely bumper season!

About The Oakland South
This historic vacation rental sits 1 block from gorgeous North Beach and its family friendly playground & concessions. Located in historic Monroe Park, our place boasts four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, loads of living space, lake views to the west and a beautifully appointed kitchen with marina views to the east. Sit on the front patio and enjoy people watching and sunsets on the lake. Grill on the private deck, play yard games on a soft green lawn, and watch boats pass by from the back yard.

The entire home and private deck are yours to enjoy. The front & back lawns and the front patio are common areas shared with our neighbors and their guests at the Oakland North. There are two dedicated off-street parking spaces for this unit.

The Ice Breaker - First Weekend of February! - heats up downtown with it's annual Snowsuit Fashion Show, outdoor ice sculpting, chili cook-off, cardboard sled racing, frozen fish fling, fire-pits for s'mores, Pub Slide, horse-drawn wagon rides, ice skating and live entertainment all weekend.

Gorgeous property

This property was beautifully updated and appointed with everything our family needed for our 5- day stay. The location is amazing, with lake views in the front and harbor views in back. Close to everything. We’re already thinking of booking again next year.

Beautiful property. Incredible location. The pictures don’t do it justice this property has everything you need. We had the best family getaway. We enjoyed morning walks to the beach, coffee on the back porch and sunset views on the front porch. This property is close to everything. You can walk to the beach and to town in minutes. We’ve been coming to South Haven for years and this was by far our favorite stay!

Lovely Father’s Day Weekend

Gorgeous home with everything you could need and more, in a perfect location! I lived in South Haven for 3 years and my parents had never been, so this was just a wonderful introduction for them. Thank you very much for sharing your home.

Perfect place by the beach

We loved staying here. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. This is a perfect place!!!

Weekend getaway

Had the best weekend getaway with the girls. This house had everything we need to make the best birthday ever. The beach was super close and even though it was too cold to enjoy, looking out the front window at the beautiful sunset made us feel like it was a beach weekend. House was perfect!

LOVED the short walk to the beach!!

Great location, very close to North Beach. Loved that there was parking for two cars in the lot outback. The gas grill was nice for cooking out and the kitchen was great and fully stocked for making meals. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you!!

Awesome Kid Friendly Rental!

Absolutely LOVED this VRBO. Very kid friendly which was nice as we were traveling with 3 2 years and a 6 year old between 3 families. The walk to the beach was super easy and the view from the front porch is great, can even catch of glimpse of the sunset. Would def stay here again!

Family Vacation and Birthday Celebration

What a perfect place to get our family together and celebrate our parent's 70th birthdays! The house was PERFECT! Wonderful location, and had everything we could possibly need. Grandparents, kids and grandkids all had a wonderful time. We can't wait to come back.

Great property!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Oakland South! The recent renovations are absolutely beautiful, the kids enjoyed the bunk bed room, and the main floor bedroom was perfect for the grandparents! The owners were friendly and helpful, and we'd highly recommend this location for any families looking for a great week near the lake!

Family Time

It was a wonderful location, close to everything and yet quiet. We had plenty of room for our 5 adults and two children. We loved how easy it was to get to the beach and appreciated the beach chairs and sand toys. The kitchen had what we needed to cook and loved having a grill and large deck with a table.

Fun Family Getaway!

Our group of 4 adults and 6 kids stayed at the Oakland South for South Haven’s winter festival and had the best weekend! The house is roomy, cozy, clean, and beautiful. We bundled up and walked about 15 minutes into town for the Icebreaker and its events. The location was perfect for getting to the lake or walking into town. We will definitely be back when it’s warm!

Perfect Winter Getaway!

Our stay at the Oakland South couldn’t have been lovelier! Some girlfriends and I took advantage of the 3-day weekend and took the kids to South Haven. The Oakland had space for everyone, a clean & well-stocked kitchen, and lots of games and books for all ages. Even though it was chilly, we took some lovely walks by the lake and past the marina. The downtown is adorable! We went ice skating under the pavilion in town, had a delicious dinner, then hit up the candy store for treats after. We will definitely be returning when it’s warmer! The location is just awesome!

Short walk to North Beach

This home is absolutely beautiful, even better than the pictures! Home had been recently remodeled. The decor is fresh and cozy. No expense was spared. Bedding was luxurious. House was very well supplied with everything we needed from beach chairs to zip lock bags. Our group of nine adults had plenty of space for sleeping or just lounging around watching TV. The large farm house table fit our group comfortably plus there was another big table on the afternoon-shaded back deck. The 1 block walk to the beach was very convenient! We will definitely rent this wonderful home again!

Fabulous!

The property was laid out beautifully with the bedroom and a full bath on the main floor for my elderly mother and the upstairs accommodations were beautiful and fit our family well. The kitchen was gorgeous and roomy, and the gathering spaces around the extra large dining table and the sectional was perfect for everyone. we will definitely book again

Best vacation!

After family vacations to FL and SC we decided to try South Haven MI. We absolutely loved it! Our house was perfect and a great location, just 1 block from the beach. We were able to walk everywhere and really enjoyed the cooler temps and beautiful beach! The Oakland house was well equipped and the owner was very responsive to our questions and requests. We will definitely go back!

We had an amazing stay. It is located so close to everything. Right near the beach and close to the downtown. The place was so clean and had everything you could need. The owners were quick to respond to a question I had and were super friendly. Would definitely like to stay here again!
