Cozy, inviting, and perfectly atmospheric, this A-frame chalet sits just a few minutes' walk from Thusis Beach on the south shore of Pea Porridge Pond. You'll be amid hiking and snowmobile trails, ski slopes, fall foliage drives, boating, and swimming - with beautiful pine walls, a gas-log stove, and a quiet, comfortable living space to come home to each day. Use the provided kayaks and life jackets to get out on the water each morning, returning home for a coffee or cocoa outside on the deck and breakfast prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Spend your evenings gathering around the seasonal firepit to roast marshmallows with your loved ones or snuggling up inside for a game of cards and a movie by the fire in the living room.

Things to Know
Central air-conditioning is available from Memorial Day to Columbus Day.
The firepit, grill, and sporting equipment can only be used from May to October.
This property is managed by Vacasa New Hampshire, LLC.

Cozy getaway in the white mountains!

We had a lovely stay! The house was comfortable and cozy. A few upgrades would make this a five-star stay, otherwise it was perfect for our family.

This listing needs help

First off Google doesn’t know where this house is. They have the location in the wrong spot. When we did find the correct house we opened the door to a musty dog smell and a really sad ceiling fan that was covered in dust. After a really long drive the first thing I needed was the bathroom. While using the bathroom I was unfortunately not alone. There was a 1/2 dead mouse right at my feet. While I’m trying to get this mouse out the toilet was clogged so now the bowl is filling with water. I’m freaking out because I’m trying to get the mouse without touching it and a toilet is about to overflow all over the floor. After dealing with all of that we look around the house and decide there is no way we can stay upstairs because it smells too much like dog and the railing going down the stairs is rather shaky and we didn’t want to fall down the stairs. The down stairs bedroom was not much better. The beading had some stains on it and there were no pillow cases on any of the pillows. There were also stains on the couch’s as well. Overall the cleanliness was lacking between the cobwebs and dust and its overall upkeep was also lacking. There’s ducttape holding trim on the cabinet in the kitchen, the shower door you have to fight with to open and close, fridge door doesn’t want to shut. And a can’t understand the use of pushpins to hold things like curtains and pictures. Over all this property does not live up to the pictures in the add and I wouldn’t rent it again.

Good cabin to visit the Whites!

We liked our experience at this cabin and it allowed us to do great activities in the White mountains (my spouse, myself and our dog). The cabin is super cozy and confortable with the heating and AC units. However, we noted 3 downsides that can't give the 5 star review : - General cleanliness was okay, but not great. A good portion of the dishes and cookware were pretty dirty and we had to do a lot of dishes upon arrival. - We wanted to use the kayaks on the lake, but we were just not able to carry them over the long distance to get to the closest beach access. - We wanted to play in the lake with our dog, but turns out the area is not very dog friendly and that they are not allowed anywhere near the lake. Other than that, everything was great and we had a nice vacation!

Not impressed

House was very dirty. Bird droppings on front porch/deck ,door and door handle. Food crumbs on countertops and kitchen floor. Refrigerator had dried food on shelves. Ceiling fan had caked on dust. Ants were in kitchen draws and on countertops. All dishes,silverware and pots were not clean. Bed linens had large dark stains on them. We could hear a large animal/ rodent crawling in the wall in the living room. No dish pan to wash dishes.

Great Location!

This home was a cozy, centrally located place. The house was clean and kitchen was well stocked. Cons were due to the extremely large and heavy kayaks and length of walk to the beach, we were not able to use them like we had hoped. You would have to have a pick-up truck to actually utilize the kayaks. The lake is only a short walk down the road. The beach and water were clean and quiet. Our kids enjoyed swimming and spending time by the water. The neighborhood is peaceful and road is quiet. The upstairs bedroom is not airconditioned, but does have a nice window to create air flow. Unfortunatley we were not able to use the ceiling fan to cool the upstairs due to the thick coating of dust. Overall this was a nice place to stay for a few days and we really enjoyed our stay.

simple cozy retreat

We were in the area for the total eclipse and glad we stayed here! Perfect space for our two families (including dog). Close to the Kancamagus, Whites, etc but also a sweet place to just relax. Furnishings were basic but mostly everything we needed.

Weekend getaway

2nd time staying. Cute area and in a great location to a lot of hiking trails. Google maps for some reason did not bring us right to the house this time.. but we were able to find our way looking at house numbers. We arrived at night so the house being lit up for us also was very helpful.

Peaceful mountain stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was as shown. It was a great location to nearby attractions but felt private enough in a good neighborhood. Definitely bring blankets/comforters. When showering space out showers for hot water purposes

Overall good

We stayed in excellent VRBO rentals before. Only problem was garbage from previous rentals had never been removed from property. As snow melted we found an old cigar but on deck as well as dog poop. Which we picked up ourselves. The were many different conflicting instructions on what not to do and what to do in regards to heat, water, dishwasher (there is no dishwasher), but there were pods for one? Otherwise, we had fun. Would recommend streamlining instructions, and removing trash as we had to take ours home.

Decent accommodation

The chalet was generally nice. The majority of the home was clean and prepared for our stay. There was definitely some moisture, contributing to a musty smell. We didn’t contemplate turning on the fan or gas fireplace due to dustiness. The beds aren’t the best. There is hot water in the shower but not the bathroom sink, leading to nightly toothbrushing in the kitchen. The location is nice and quiet but ultimately the overall quality/expectation may not be in line with the pricing.

Great getaway

Nice and quiet location. Rental was clean and comfortable. All three of us (fiancé, dog, myself) slept comfortably and enjoyed our downtime when there. Perfect location in terms of getting to fun spots in the North Conway area. Just be careful when driving around at night as roads are not as well lit but that’s to be expected where the rental was. All in all we had a blast during our short time in NH and would definitely go back and consider staying at that rental.

Awesome A-Frame Stay on the 4th of July

I always wanted to stay in an A-frame during a vacation and this place did not disappoint! Awesome place inside. Great deck and firepit. It also is located close to a beautiful lake with multiple small beaches within walking distances. Kayaks were provided and great for time spent on the lake. I would definitely stay at this location again!.

The place was fine just smelt a bit when we got there & the smoke alarms were chirping. Yard work could use a bit more work. Overall it was clean comfortable beds but small. Hair dryer box under sink but no hairdryer located in it. GapS never brought us to exact location

The A frame

This place was great Every thing you need and within 30min of NConway. Verry cozy and very clean On my next trip north this will be my first call great for a couple or young family Heat and ac works perfect no problems at all Down in a hallow with pleanty of tree between you and the road short walk to the beach definitely coming back loved it To the owners thank you

Good value

For the money it’s a good deal. Heat is good even when dipped to 10 degrees no issue. Centrally located to lots of attractions. Driveway was well plowed and sanded. Shower was nice and hot. No issues.

Wonderful visit to charming a-frame

Great find for a long weekend getaway

Always wanted to stay in an A frame! Check in was easy and directions were clear. Home was clean and heat was easy to use. Kitchen had everything needed for cooking meals. Stayed here with my husband and dog.
