Family Trip
Finding this property and booking was very simple. Pictures on the vrbo site were fantastic and it looked to be a great property. However I have lived in the LA area so I knew to do a google street view and it isn't the nicest of areas. Being prepared on that front we arrived and checked in with ease. The house is smaller that we thought, but it seemed clean and ready for us. I must state though that parking is tight. The neighbors have many cars and dominate the driveway and street. Then about an hour after arrival as we laid down in bed our car alarm went off and a theft of our vehicle had obviously been attempted with notable damage. As we were prepared for this we weren't too upset, but as the week went we had water pooling in the fridge, the freezer was iced up, and the dishwasher leaked water all over the floor. There were also only 8 bath towels provided and when I tried to do laundry to wash them the washer was padlocked. I contacted the property manager/owner and was told it was $5 a load to wash which I was a little taken back as I don't remember being told that. She then couldn't remember the code to the washer but after multiple messages over several hours we were able to do laundry and wash the limited number of towels we were left to use for our week long stay. Also fyi there are no beach towels which is a bit disappointing for a house in LA. I feel that most travelers may want to spend a day at the beach when visiting LA and it would be nice to have linens to do such an activity. There were no drinking glasses either so we had to buy solo cups at the store and there are few items to cook with so don't plan to really prepare meals at the house. We did enjoy the many restaurants that will deliver and the back yard is a lovely place to sip coffee in the morning. The location is close to downtown, close to USC and convenient for many other LA adventures. Lastly as the week passed and we checked out I started getting strange messages from the manager/owner about a chipped corner of plaster in the house. She sent pictures and interrogated me about how it occurred. She even made up a scenario about how we bumped it with our luggage?!? We seriously did no damage to the house and if anything left it in better shape than we found it. The fridge was clean, the freezer was defrosted and there were solo cups in the cabinet which was more than we got when we arrived. I would overall not recommend this property. Sorry.

Cozy & Quaint with a Great Backyard & Location!
Property Owner/Host was very communicative and courteous. Lots of space inside the home for a family get together. There is also enough space to be distant from other family members. The backyard is very spacious and has amenities for a BBQ on a nice sunny day. I recommend for Owner/Host to have more toilet paper available due to having three bathrooms and can accomodate lots of people. I also recommend having more disinfectant wipes to be able to clean. There is a washer/dryer, but it wouldn't turn on - so we weren't able to use it. Also, recommend additional blankets - but probably would recommend black-out/insulation type curtains for the windows to keep the cold out and also heat during summer. Convenient location to downtown and near a grocery store and some quick eateries. Overall, this is a great property to stay at.

Worst VRBO experience ever
The owner scheduled her house to be completely reroofed during our stay. Who does that??!!! The owner messaged me the evening before we're scheduled to check in to inform me that she's having the roof replaced and due to illnesses on the roofer, that the job will coincide with our stay and that she would compensate us for the inconvenience. Didn't think it would be a big deal but when we got to the house, there was about 4 or 5 workers on the roof doing a complete demo of the roof. There was dust and debris everywhere--on the bedding, flooring, showers--everywhere! As the demo was going on, dust and debris fell from the air vents into the house so god only know what we were all exposed to while staying in the house. The workers were LOUD! We couldn't relax and enjoy our stay cause there was constant sounds of scrapping, dropping and stomping. The roofers also took one of our parking spots during our entire stay so we had to park in the street. We had a dog with us who gets anxious easily and would have freaked out to be home by himself with the workers making all their noises so we ended up having to take the dog with us everywhere which was a major inconvenience. Saturday morning, we tried to make biscuits and gravy but there was no gas for the stove. So by this time, everyone was super frustrated with our situation of staying in this house considering that we had to deal with the roofers during our vacation and now breakfast was ruined. I messaged the owner about the lack of gas and she responded back that it was working for the last renter and she was a bit confused as to what was going on. Out of frustration, I told her that she needs to pay for our breakfast out as our plans for breakfast were ruined. An hour and a half later she messaged me back to inform me that the gas was shut off due to the earthquake the evening before. She then goes on to state that "you're getting more difficult than sympathy. If you keep asking for money, we will be better cancel you to avoid all troubles" She basically threatened to kick all 9 of us out of the house and we had paid for another evening in the house. Also, while we were out on Saturday, the roofer's girlfriend left her purse inside the house so the roofer came to the door to retrieve it while we were there!?!! Owner was rude and condescending and I would never rent from her ever again. She did provide minimum compensation for our inconvenience - completely inadequate for our troubles.
