Within a 30 minute drive, Smith Mountain Lake offers access to horseback riding, golf, hiking trails, and wineries. The nearby state park includes a small beach for younger visitors. High-speed internet allows for viewing movies and shows from your own streaming accounts and the occasional remote work if absolutely necessary.

GUESTS SHOULD BRING LINENS (FOR ONE QUEEN AND TWO TWIN BEDS), BATH TOWELS, WASH CLOTHS, DISH TOWELS, ETC. Linens may be provided for an additional $75 fee.
While the cabin is dog-friendly, due to the increased wear and tear to the property and furnishings, as well as increased cleaning, there is a $50 pet fee. This is automatically assessed on the VRBO app but not on the PC/Mac website and may be added as a separate invoice after booking if not automatically included.

The cabin was perfect and the view of the lake and surrounding hills was magnificent. A nice, quiet environment. We spent a lot of our time out on the deck just watching the view...which is now the background on my IPhone.
Property location was ideal beautiful lake views simply steps from the water we could not have asked for a better experience the owners were fantastic helpful yet not intrusive whatsoever we would definitely recommend staying with this host again in the future we had a great experience zero issues
Great place to get away cabin sits next to the lake with a shared dock .Very pet friendly maybe not the best location if you have walking issues. The cabin offers stairs down a to the dock but has a nice deck that provides great views and plenty of space for a small family. The Host were very responsive when I had questions they also provided a nice book with local restaurants and attractions with maps of the local area. Overall a great place to stay
This is the second time I have been at Cabin 2, we love it, even though it was cold, the cabin was super cozy and warm inside , love this cabin and hope to stay here again.
The cabin was lovely and the views spectacular. Even with it being “off-season” the weather was wonderful and we took many walks along the lake with our dogs. We booked our next stay before we even checked out!
Beautiful location! We visited in the fall and the lake was so peaceful. The cabin was very clean and the hosts very responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our annual sister weekend stay here. Of course we came in February so a lot of the lake activities weren't available, but that didn't matter as we mostly just like to hibernate. The cabin was very clean and well supplied. It was evident our hosts put a lot of thought into details to make our stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible and to make us, and our dogs, feel welcomed. My personal favorite was the nightlight placed in the bathroom. It allowed us not to have to turn on the blinding lights when we got up during the night. We appreciated being able to unload and load our vehicle at the back door. Our favorite part of the day was sitting on the deck in the morning drinking our coffee listening to the geese and other birds, watching the fog rise off the lake, and enjoying the quiet. This cabin was perfect for us.
Great getaway cabin on Smith Mountain Lake. Cabin is very clean and well maintained, kitchen well equipped. Deck has awesome view of lake and short walk down to dock. Will definitely stay here again. Owners were very responsive.
My husband and I were very happy with this place. It was serene and peaceful and the views of the lake were gorgeous. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed, and even provided some pet supplies. We would definitely stay here again!
Great time as usual! Enjoyed waking up every morning to the birds singing and the view of the beautiful lake and mountains. Our favorite place to stay by far!!
I was very impressed with how clean the home was, and was stocked with all cooking needs. The area was beautiful and we would like to come again next year.
Didnt want for anything really. Beautiful setting. The cabin was clean and organized. Communication with hosts about anything was super quick and they are very accommodating. Already booked for next year!
This was the most beautiful location to spend an anniversary weekend. The cabin was clean and the host’s left plentiful instructions for everything. We shared a dock with a neighboring cabin with the most gorgeous views. It was quiet and so refreshing. There’s enough to do around the area without feeling overwhelming. If you truly just want to “get away” do yourself a favor and visit this cabin with these wonderful hosts

About the host
Hosted by Cynthia Dittman
Ken and Cindy Fasanella are healthcare workers who live in Pittsburgh, PA. Ken has been enjoying Cedar Key since his college days at the University of Virginia, and he and Cindy have been making it an annual destination since 2016. In 2020, we had the opportunity to make our favorite place on Earth into our second home. Our hope is that our guests are able to enjoy the cabin the same way we have, as the ultimate family vacation spot in the summer and a peaceful getaway the rest of the year.
Why they chose this property
This is a truly magical place on Smith Mountain Lake. It is an old fashioned fishing village built the same year the lake was created, right in the middle of a nature preserve, across a cove from protected State Nature Preserve, which will never be developed.
What makes this property unique
It is on the shore of a "no wake" cove allowing for peaceful swimming and use of personal watercraft (kayaks, rafts, SUP boards) without rapid boat traffic affecting your personal safety or peace of mind. Additionally, it has a small, old-fashioned, laid-back community feel allowing multiple families to simultaneously rent separate cabins but be able to enjoy stays together, congregating for potluck dinners on the generous deck.
