The Dovetail Cabin

The Dovetail Log Cabin and private bunk room feature a cozy log home feel with upscale Alaska decor. The cabin showcases local artists' works such as stained glass, limited edition prints, and woodcarvings. The kitchen cabinets are stocked with dishes, cookware, coffee, tea, and spices.

The Dovetail Log Cabin has a 280-degree view with large picture windows and large A-frame windows in the loft bedroom to take in the awesome panorama views. The main floor has a full kitchen and dining room, full bath and a wonderful bay window and lounger for relaxing.

A spiral staircase leads to a large loft bedroom with a queen size log bed, roll-out sofa, and chair. The sofa in the living room on the main floor is also a hide-a-bed for additional guests. Outside you will find a deck with lounge furniture and a gas grill for cooking the catch of the day. You will find all the amenities of home including satellite TV, games,
Rates are based on four guests. The maximum number of guests is six. Additional adults are $35 per person / per night and children under 12 are $20 per child / per night.

Stunning and cozy. Amazing view of Kachemak Bay from multiple windows. Nice kitchen to cook in. Separate section of house with 2 twin beds and its own bathroom- nice cozy and quiet place. We also liked that the owner is on site - made it feel extra safe for us in an unfamiliar area.

Breathtaking

This property was absolutely gorgeous! The cabin was spacious and adorably decorated. We spent most of our time on the deck taking in the views of the inlet. I highly recommend!

Our stay was absolutely perfect. The Dovetail cabin was by far the best place to stay in Homer! From the most comfortable bed I have ever laid on, to the most breathtaking scenery that you can imagine. This cabin had it all, and the host was wonderful too! We will definitely be returning!

A whale of place!

We spent every evening sitting on the deck or at the dining room table watching whales feed and sea otters float around. This place was perfect for our family. Appliances worked great, space was comfortable, and it was extremely easy to access and find. Highly recommend for people visiting Homer!

Property is very eclectic. Beautiful views, and great location on edge of town. Watch out for the stairs because they are easy to bonk your head on.

Charming cabin

Great view! Beautiful grounds. Very well equipped kitchen and lots of nice towels and bedding. Photos and descriptions are accurate. We had plenty of room for four adults and two children for two nights. Only drawback was the way the keys worked with the bunk room—a little inconvenient.

What a view!

Our family had a wonderful time staying in this well appointed and rustic cabin. The views across the bay are outstanding. There is a separate entrance for the kids' bedroom. Also be sure to try out the hot tub in the greenhouse down the hill. Be sure to bring an eye mask for sleeping in the summer months, as the loft does not have full blackout curtains.

Wonderful place.

Minor flaws still make it an 11/10. The view is to die for. The location is very close to downtown Homer. Downside it is on the main highway but as everything's facing the other way it doesnt really matter. The cabin is beautiful. We very much maxed it out with 6 people, as far as cutlery and bathroom size go. All is nevertheless functional. We had a great time. Evelyn was super helpful in communication and flexible.

Great location with amazing views!

The Dovetail Cabin was so great! Amazing views from just about anywhere in the cabin and definitely from the deck! We had binoculars and a spotting scope and watched whales from the deck. The cabin had what we needed for our stay to make it convenient and comfortable for me, my spouse, and our two college age children, and allowed space to hang out together but also have our own space. The location was perfect for us, still near everything but not right in the middle of it. The communication with the host was quick and easy, as was the check-in process. I have nothing but good things to say about this cabin! If we ever make it back to Homer we will for sure want to stay here again. Thank you!

Very easy to book and communication was great about the travel itinerary. Easy to find and great location for Homer access. Kitchen and cooking were awesome, including the use of an awesome barbecue. View splendid. We don't feel sleeping info accurate. We feel it sleeps more like 4 comfortably. But overall we had an awesome time.

Why they chose this property

This beautiful property is located in Homer, very close to amenities and tourist activities, but very private on the side of the hill, overlooking the Kachemak Bay and surrounding mountains. Guests frequently report whale and bird watching from the deck, as well as frequent wildlife sightings.

What makes this property unique

Along with a 280 degree view of the bay with the plush green landscape with groomed trails and photo opportunities, you enjoy a large deck equipped with furniture and a BBQ, where you socialize while watching a sunset, watching eagles play on the wind and moose will mosey past. (You are safe.) Great photo ops as you walk our summer trails and enjoy the plush green nature.
