Aurora Skies Lodging - Private Cabin with Open Loft Bedroom - Sleeps 3-6
Welcome to Aurora Skies Lodging!!
The Australis Cabin is close to Lost Lake Trailhead and family-friendly activities. A hidden gem just three miles outside of Seward city limits. You’ll love it because of the high ceilings, the kitchen, the open floor plan, the comfy beds, and the coziness. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families.
One of two beautiful little loft cabins nestled just off of a dirt road in the mountains about three miles outside of Seward city limits.
There is a full kitchen with a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot. We offer a wireless sound system, complementary wifi and a 40" smart TV. The cabin also includes a Bar-B-Q grill on the back porch for outdoor grilling and a fire-pit for roasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories. Please bring your own firewood for the fire pit and charcoal for grilling.
The cabin sleeps 3-6 in three queen sized beds. Be advised that two of the beds are located in the loft of the cabin. In order to access the loft one must climb a ladder like staircase. The third bed is on the first floor for those guests who are squeamish about heights. There are three queen beds in all. We ask that the host provide an accurate guest count at booking so that we may provide the appropriate amenities for each guest. Unfortunately, we can not host parties larger than 6 and pets are not allowed on the property.
The cabin is one of two identical cabins on our property. Your neighbor is also a guest of ours. Please be respectful of their stay by keeping late night noises to a minimum.
**Please note that the fire pit is subject to availability in winter months due to possibility of heavy snow.
We are located just off the Seward Hwy on a dirt road that is well maintained by the city of Seward during all four seasons.
There is private parking available for up to three vehicles next to your cabin. You are welcome to park a snow-machine trailer or small boat, but doing so will count as one of the three vehicles. Please allow plenty of room for the guests staying in the cabin next to yours to park and exit the driveway at all times. No RV parking or tent camping on the property.
The cabin is located just 1/4 mile from the Lost Lake Trailhead! Cross-country skiing, biking, and hiking is allowed on the shoulder of the road. Snow-machining to the trailhead from the cabin is also permitted. **Please note, there is not a private off-road trail from the cabin for skiing, hiking, biking, or snow-machining to the trailhead.
Other things to note;
SECURITY SYSTEM The cabin has an active “Ring Doorbell” for securing the safety of our guests and property. The system is located to the left of the front door under the porch light and provides the owners a view of the front porch and driveway with audio.
EARLY CHECK-IN Due to increased cleaning protocols we are unable to promise checkin times before 4:00 pm. Request for an early check-in must be communicated with the host through direct message only. Upon request, we are happy to let you know as soon as your cabin is ready on the day of your arrival.
CRIB/HIGHCHAIR REQUEST If you would like to make use of our travel crib or highchair please request it before you arrive so that we can make sure it is in the cabin at check-in. Storage in the cabin is limited so we keep these items off site until needed.
WATER USAGE: Your cabin uses a private well and septic system. Please conserve water whenever possible and never flush anything other than toilet paper.

We absolutely loved our stay at Aurora Skies. It was tucked away far enough to feel remote but was easily accessible to the highway and the town of Seward. It was so nice to come back each night to a clean, warm & cozy cabin after exploring in the rain every day. I highly recommend these cabins to anyone visiting the Seward area.
Really enjoyed the location and the fire pit. Very quiet. We like to cook and would have appreciated a little better stocked kitchen. Overall would recommend this cabin.
Cozy cabin, smaller than photos suggest, really a studio with a loft, but very clean and comfortable. Nice information about local activities and resting, and the chocolates and fresh eggs were a lovely touch. Would want a washer/dryer for longer than a few days stay here.
Excellent location to outdoor activities. Extremely clean and well kept cabin. Beds were very comfortable and all needed amenities were provided. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. Thank you so much to the owners of the cabin! My boys and I had a great stay!

Thank you, Kevin! It was a pleasure to host your stay in Seward. Thank you for taking such god care of the cabin. We hope to see you again.
Cabin was tucked away in the woods and was great for our short stay. Great communication with the owner and there is a fire pit outside. There are few options when staying in Seward so this is a nice alternative to hotels. Probably best suited to shorter stays.
First of all - most comfortable beds ever!! Easy check in/out procedures. Great, quiet location - quick, easy access to the highway but set back in the woods just enough for that 'up north' feel! The cabin is cozy but has everything you need! It was one of our favorite places we stayed while in Alaska! Would highly recommend!

Thank you for the thoughtful review, Shelly! Happy trails!
Came to this cabin to visit Seward and the surrounding areas with my husband and two kids. My Mother Father and Grandmother in law stayed in a cabin down the road. This was a perfect place for a family of 4 with room when the rest of our group hung out for dinner and cards . The host was friendly and helpful and really cares about the cabins, the land, and your experience. We would absolutely visit again.

The cabin was lovely and in a beautiful quiet area 3 miles outside of Seward. It was clean and had everything that we needed. The host, Meegan, was extremely pleasant and quickly replied to any questions that I had. We had a very lovely evening there and would be happy to stay again when we come back to Seward.
Thank you!

Thank you, Deb. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family.
Overall, our stay was good. It is not a big cabin but fit the three of us well. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It is surrounded by trees so unable to view the mountains/water; however, so peaceful at the cabin. It is a short drive into Seward. We did not cook any meals but the kitchen did have some basic supplies. You have to handwash dishes since there is no dishwasher. There are 3 Queen beds with 2 of them up in the loft. The stairs leading up into the loft are well-built and steep. I was a little nervous climbing them but our teenage son was fine. When checking in, you will get the access code about one hour prior to check-in via the VRBO inbox. We would stay there again if visiting Seward.
We absolutely loved staying here! The hosts thought of everything a traveler could want. The cabin is in close proximity to Seward. Meegan was quick to respond to our questions about the area and a whole binder is provided with recommendations to local places. Will definitely recommend this place to others.
We truly enjoyed the cabin! It is very close to Lost Lake Trail. Where you can go for a nice hike or pick blueberries.
The cabins were very clean and comfortable. The cabins were perfect to unwind after a day for the kids playing in Seward and at a wedding all day!
The cabins are wonderful and peaceful for everyone to relax!
Our family truly enjoyed this home. My husband and I travelled with our two sons, 17 and 19 years old. The home allowed space for us to all sleep very comfortably without being completely on top of one another. The home had all the modern conveniences we didn’t necessarily expect in Alaska! While not located right in the heart of Seward, it is maybe a 5 minute drive. We liked the location near the Loat Lake trail as well as the proximity to Kenai Fjords NP. We are excited to plan our next trip to Seward and would stay here again without question.
Lastly, the hosts were incredible. Meegan was responsive when needed, and wanted to ensure we had a comfortable stay.

About the host
Hosted by Meegan Miller
Hello Guests!
We are Tom and Meegan Miller. We met in Seward at a coffee shop downtown in 2014...
Tom grew up on a homestead located on Resurrection Bay just outside of the city limits. His family practiced the subsistence lifestyle and as a result Tom learned to fish, hunt and forage at a very young age. His maritime upbringing and passion for travel provided him with the opportunity to work on several research vessels. His employment with the US Antarctic Program, among other research contracts, took him from the Arctic ocean down to the furthest reaches of Antartica. He currently runs water taxis and fishing charters in Resurrection Bay from Lowell Point..
Meegan was visiting Alaska from New York City when she met Tom. She grew up in the mountains of Truckee, CA and immediately felt at home among the landscape of Seward. Before receiving her bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Meegan was an artist and actress. Her acting career took her from San Fransisco to Los Angeles and eventually landed her in Manhattan. Since relocating to Alaska, Meegan has begun her career as an Interior Designer and Event Planner. She has also enjoyed refining her sea-kayaking skills and never tires of hiking the trails surrounding her new home. She is always eager to share all that she loves about Seward with out-of-town guests.
We were married on the beach at Lowell Point in May of 2016 and joyfully welcomed our first daughter into the world in March of 2017. Today we are a family of four! Our second daughter was bon in October of 2018. Aurora Skies Lodging is not only a business and a dream to our small growing family, it is also our home. We live just across the property from where you will stay and are always available to answer your questions or supply you with an extra set of towels when needed.
We look forward to meeting you and showing you what we love about Alaska!
Sincerely, The Millers
