Awesome place to stay! We saw elk from the cabin a few different times. Easy location to get to the Buffalo Outdoor Center where we floated the Buffalo River. Also close to hiking. We can’t wait to come back!
This place was perfect! My son and I were in the area for a mountain bike race and The Bunkhouse was the perfect place to stay. We really enjoyed the indoor ourtoor/living.
A perfect place to get away from the hustle and relax. The cabin allows for a comfortable place to sleep and get cleaned up while the kitchen and activities keep you close to nature. We definitely recommend staying here.
My sister and I wanted to visit cousin's in Hilltop, Arkansas so we booked our stay at the Bunkhouse. The hosts told us where we could see elk only a short drive from the bunkhouse toward Ponca. The area is absolutely beautiful! I encourage you to check out the Ozark Grand Canyon and the Buffalo River National Park.
Eric and Ashlee were excellent hosts. They were very helpful giving us great tips on trails to visit and directions to find the bunkhouse. I would stay again in the future if I return to that area.
This place was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for! The “Kich inn” outside was perfect and had everything we needed. The fridge and little freezer worked great and stored what we brought for the weekend no problem! The location was perfect to get to so many trails and scenic drives. The hosts were so responsive and so helpful with tips on swimming holes and trails! Definitely will be back during the rainy season to explore again!
Mainly just needed a place to sleep as our family met up at the RV park down the road. We were there visiting our last remaining aunt and spending time with cousins. Even though an inside kitchen would have been nice, we just use the refrigerator for a couple of items and it wasn’t to cold going out and getting creamer for my coffee. Would definitely consider staying here again.
The description was very accurate. The refrigerator was inside the room though, which was great. Along with the coffee pot. My husband did see an elk which made the whole stay worth while!
Eric and Ashlee are great hosts. They answered all our questions before we arrived, made us us feel super welcome and couldn't have been more helpful.
The location of the cabin is beautiful, set in rolling countryside with stunning views, close to Ponca, and there are some great family walks nearby. Lost Valley is great for young children. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the Buffalo River area. Thank you. Martin
We enjoyed our stay so much. This cabin was perfect for that camping feel without sacrificing comfort. We have been wanting to stay here for a while and I’m so glad we finally got the chance. The cabin was the perfect size for adventuring and coming back to sleep. The outdoor kitchen was neat. We didn’t cook anything or get to use the fire pit because of the burn ban and wildfire risk, but we hope to do that next time. We loved the isolated feeling. There aren’t a bunch of cabins or houses stacked right up on top of each other, so it was very peaceful. At the same time, we weren’t so isolated that we couldn’t get help if we needed it. We were super close to everything we wanted to do, like elk viewing and hiking trails. Always do Lost Valley Trail. It’s jsut beautiful. We finally did Hawksbille Crag. They say it’s a bucket list hike, and they aren’t lying. Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca has gas and souvenirs and coffee. There were also two dogs who visited us who were so sweet. My kids cried and cried when we left. They loved the dogs. They named them Columbia and Shadow. I wonder what their real names were. The only improvement I could recommend would be wifi. Not because I was wifi, but because our cell signal was really bad and we had trouble communicating with family back home who were watching our animals and wanting to know when we made it in from hiking. But that’s not to say we had no cell signal ever. It was jsut spotty. Again, we really enjoyed our stay and the owners were very helpful. We plan to stay again and have already recommended it to friends.
This is a lovely property. The cabin accommodated our family perfectly and gave us a feel of camping and the outdoors with the outdoor kich-inn and fire pit. This location is miles from anything so make sure you bring your groceries and drinks. The cell service was very spotty for us but it gave us the perfect family time and break from all devices that we needed. My only complaint and it was not the fault of anyone just nature were the flies. Be sure to bring some fly spray or traps. Otherwise, enjoy the peace!
We had a wonderful time spending three nights in the cabin. It was just me and my two children and it was awesome! Very clean, comfy beds, nice bathroom, outside kitchen area and grill, fire pit, and perfect location. As a single mom, I worry about safety but the area was perfectly safe and we had a blast! The owners were great and had quick response times! Thank you!
HAD A WONDERFUL TIME DRIVING AROUND AND SEEING THE COUNTRY SIDE AND SHOPPING DURING THE DAY AND AT NIGHT SITTING AROUND THE FIRE TALKING AND HAVING SOME WINE AND CATCHING UP WITH OLD FRIENDS THE CELL RECEPTION IS NOT GOOD BUT THAT DIDNT BOTHER US AS WE WERE THERE TO VISIT AND SEE THE ELK
We visited to see the elk and do some hiking! We stayed last year at this same property (different owners) and loved it just as much! A great place to get away and get to view the wildlife!
We talked our teenage boys into going on a last minute get away with just us parents. They just about died when we told them that we most likely would not have cell service for the weekend! We all giggled when we pulled up and saw the bunkhouse and kitch-inn! We had a great time exploring the area hiking and we also floated the river. My favorite thing was sitting by the fire pit in the evening and watching the lightening bugs out in the field.
We planned ahead and took food in ice chests and we’re glad we did. There isn’t anything around for several miles or at least we didn’t see anything!
We had a great weekend and would recommend staying here and going off grid for a few days. Our family enjoyed it!
The Bunkhouse was the perfect place to stay for our 4th of July getaway! It was the perfect location, very clean, and serene. We even saw two elk in the pasture behind the cabin! We will definitely be back!
My kids and I came up to Ponca to float the Buffalo and do a little exploring. This cabin was the perfect place for us. It was exactly like the listing described. It is a beautiful place and we had the best time. We will definitely be back.
