About this property
Between Downtown Savannah & Tybee Beach: 4BR Marsh Home, Hot Tub, Sleeps 10
Summary:
Four bedroom, four bath coastal home on Wilmington Island, sleeping 10. It is about 10 minutes from Downtown Savannah and 15 minutes from North Tybee Beach, on more than an acre of marsh land with a hot tub and a gazebo. The Master Suite has a king bed and a private screened porch. Restaurants, bars and shopping on Wilmington Island are about 1 mile away.
Two Airstream campers on the same lot are separate rentals. Only the driveway and parking area are shared.
The Space:
Sleeps 10 in four bedrooms:
- Upstairs Master Suite: king bed, private screened porch
- Upstairs Guest Suite 1: queen bed
- Upstairs Guest Suite 2: queen bed
- Downstairs Guestroom: two double beds
The home has four full bathrooms. The Master Suite bathroom has a bathtub, a double vanity and a shower.
The living room has white sofas, wicker chairs and a TV. The dining room has a round table with bistro chairs and French doors. The kitchen has a stainless steel range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer and coffee maker, and a breakfast bar with three stools. A full-size washer and dryer are in the laundry room. A covered porch off the living room has outdoor seating.
The home is decorated in a coastal theme. It sits next to the main road, so you may hear traffic during peak hours. The home is raised 12 feet off the ground, and both entrances have at least 15 steps.
License number: OTC-023076
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the driveway, the home, the front yard and the hot tub. The backyard and parking area are shared with guests staying in the two Airstream campers, who are asked to respect your privacy, and we ask that you respect theirs.
Hot tub: turn the temperature up an hour before use (we recommend 98 to 99 degrees) and lower it to about 90 when not in use. Keep the cover on when not in use. Do not stand or sit on the cover. No children under 12 in the hot tub, and unsupervised minors are not allowed. Overheating in a hot tub is not recommended during pregnancy, and use is at your own risk. Our housekeepers drain, sanitize and refill the tub before your arrival, so it may not be warm until later in the evening. A certified spa maintainer services it weekly, usually on Fridays.
The Neighborhood:
The home sits on the corner of Blue Heron Dr and Quarterman Dr, on 1.4 acres of private property with no immediate neighbors in front, behind or to either side. Quarterman Dr is the main road connecting Wilmington Island with Highway 80, so you may hear traffic in the morning and evening.
Getting Around:
Wilmington Island is about halfway between Tybee Island (15 minutes) and Downtown Savannah (10 minutes). Roads here have no sidewalks, so you will need a car or a rideshare. A Kroger is about a mile away, and Walmart, Publix and Kroger are all within 5 minutes. For emergencies, Urgent Care is open 24/7 in Whitemarsh (6 minute drive). The Chatham County Police Precinct and the closest fire station are each about 2.5 miles away.
Other Things to Note:
The Marsh Retreat has three separate listings on the property: this home and two Airstream campers. The only shared spaces are the parking area and the driveway. Unless they are part of your group, guests of the other listings are not allowed in the home or the front yard.
We stock starter quantities of toilet paper, paper towels and other consumables, enough for a typical 3-night stay.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available as much or as little as you want. We live close and are quick to answer by phone or in person. Our priority is that you have a great time and that your privacy is respected.

We did an overnight stop on our way to Florida. The property was great. Clean and comfortable for a large family. The grounds were nice as well as neighborhood. Would stay again.
The property is absolutely stunning! The owners were very friendly and reached out to us frequently to see if we needed anything. Between the hot tub and the great location, it was a great stay. Highly recommend.
This property is super nice and updated. Love that every room has its own bathroom. Quiet location. Perfect for a group of friends. Would definitely recommend to others!
The accomodations are clean, spacious, well maintained, and comfortable. Modern appliances and very pleasant decor. We enjoyed our stay, this location is convenient to fishing, the beach, and Riverstreet is only a short drive away.
I stayed at the Marsh Retreat over the Christmas break with my husband, dog, mom, dad, sister, husband and kids for five nights.Highlights: home is very spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Location was great to enjoy Wilmington Island amenities (yoga, supermarket, nature preserve) and a quick drive to downtown Savannah and Tybee island. The house was super clean, welcoming and well equipped with the essentials. The hosts were responsive and very attentive with details to make sure my family was comfortable. It was a perfect holiday break in a beautiful beach setting. We did a lot of cooking and the large well equipped kitchen was awesome! Thank you for sharing this beautiful home.
There were campers in RVs in the driveway when I pulled into the property. The listing had no reference of this. I had declined to rent at other properties that had similar arrangements because I was willing to pay more to have our own, private place to stay. When I saw this, I assumed I was in the wrong place and both texted and called the owner but never heard back. I finally, as weird as it felt, tried the code on the front door and confirmed this was the right place. Upon check out, I called the owner and left a msg and he did call me back this time. He said the campers were properly declared on the listing. I try to get along with everyone so I said whatever. Neither my wife, my mother-in-law, my son nor myself saw anything on the listing that would even hint at this; as a matter of fact, we saw quite the opposite phrases like “private” in several places describing the property. I would not have stayed here if I had known and I felt deceived. The only reason I didn’t give this the lowest rating is because the house itself was fairly clean and the beds were comfortable.

The home is beautiful, spacious, and thoughtfully stocked. Unfortunately, several issues undermined our four-night stay.My greatest concern was security. Although the interior doors required codes, the barn-style door to the lower entry area did not latch and repeatedly blew open. Anyone approaching from the road or yard could enter that area and stand directly outside the coded interior door. Traveling with four children, I never felt secure. Two rental glampers also share the property. This was disclosed, but guests should be told before arrival whether they will be occupied. Given their proximity to the house and unsecured lower entrance, that matters for privacy and safety. The outdoor areas were difficult to enjoy because of excessive mosquitoes and numerous wasps/hornets, including a nest beneath the stairs near the jacuzzi. Unused cans of wasp spray suggested a known problem. Professional pest control is needed; guests should not have to spray nests themselves. Finally, the upstairs AC failed. The owner responded quickly and restored it, which I appreciated. However, HVAC workers returned the next day and were still working near the primary bedroom when we returned from the beach. Since the AC was functioning and checkout was near, this could have waited or been coordinated within a specific time window. This lovely property has potential, but it needs stronger security, pest control, occupancy transparency, and more considerate maintenance scheduling.
This was my first VRBO stay and it was beyond expectations. The owners stayed in communication with me on everything. Check in and check out was very easy. They gave great suggestions on what to do during our visit. The home was beautiful with plenty of space. The location was perfect for us because it was only 15 minutes away from both the downtown area and the beach. I would definitely use this home again for our next stay in Savannah.
This was the perfect house for our 1st annual cousin’s trip. The location was fantastic with just a short ride to Tybee Island and downtown Savannah. The host was very nice and accommodating. Each guest absolutely loved the home and layout. I like the fact that this home has as many bathrooms as it does, which is a plus if traveling with a larger group! I could go on, but most importantly if I were to return, I would definitely stay again. Thank you Carlos and family.
We enjoyed our stay & the house was great. It is perfectly located between downtown & Tybee. The owner was excellent at communicating & checked on us during our stay to see if there was anything we needed.

Just a bed, not a retreat
This home is a good place if you are just looking to sleep. It is spacious and has a lot of bedrooms. The hosts are very friendly and respond when needed. However, when paying this price, one expects more than just a place to sleep and for the listing to be accurate.
There is NO internet at the home. Due to its location on the marsh, there is very little bandwidth. If there is a cloud in the sky, this means there is NO internet. I had to cancel work engagements, because I could not use the internet. We were there during an especially rainy week with 3 children. No internet meant NO television on the one TV available. It would have been nice to have a DVD player to at least have another option. Even on the semi-clear days, we were only able to watch TV for 5-10 minutes before it would time out.
There is also very little privacy in the bedrooms. 2/4 bathrooms have pocket doors that do not close all the way. The master bedroom has one pocket door at the entry that does not close all the way. There is no door between the master bedroom and bathroom. There are also two French doors in the master bedroom that have no window treatments. Two giant spotlights shine in on the bedroom making you feel like anyone can see in the room. The door knobs to go to the back porches feel like they are going to come out of the door when using them.
Check in was rather late at 5:00 to allow cleaning using COVID procedures. However, we found soiled linens in the dryer that smelled, because the dryer was inoperable. There was also someone's used ice cream in the freezer next to the opened bag of ice that was supposed to be our ice for the stay with no working ice maker or ice trays.
The home is on a beautiful lot but does share a driveway with two Airstream campers for other renters.
This rental has so much potential but did not feel that it was as advertised.
We passed the drive entry 1st time. It was hard to see at 1st pass. We did like how far back from road house was. It has a tree line all around property which allows for privacy and a country feel.
We were surprised to see 2 Airstreams that were also being rented. Guests were quiet and private so we had no issues with invasiveness. We had plenty of parking.
There are doors that either do not lock or lock too well In downstairs bathroom and upstairs master. No private door to master bathroom. This was not a deal breaker but we had to make arrangements for privacy.
We found the house to be clean, well organized, well decorated and spacious. The host is gracious and communication was great. The recommendations for grocery and catering were very helpful.
Our dogs were allowed and we loved having them with us. We slept well in the beds. I would have preferred another queen bed in the room that had two single beds but we made it work. I would also suggest kitchen wash cloths and a broom left for use. We like to tidy up after ourselves.
Over all we had a very comfortable stay and had a lot of fun while in town. My family will not forget that weekend and my mother was very surprised with her 80th Birthday celebration. We would love the opportunity to use this home again.
This property was located in a great location. It was a short drive to both Savannah and Tybee Isand. The house was clean and had amazing beds. The owners were very easy to communicate with. Would stay here again.
Mr Carlos is an asset to the Vrbo community! This house was in a perfect location and very nice!
This house is beautiful, bright and cheerful. Screened in porch? Got it. Open porch? Check! Nice yard the the grandkids to explore? Yup!
The location of the house was amazing as we spent time on Tybee Island and Savannah. Close to a grocery store, gas station and restaurants.
Next trip back I will 100% choose this house. Mr. Carlos is an amazing host and I wish him all the best with this property and any others that he will hopefully rent.
