Log Cabin <Sauna> Creekside Mountain Retreat
*Just added - 4 person sauna in backyard nestled under the apple tree!*
Welcome to your home away from home! 3 bedroom, 2 bath home nestled in the pines that backs up to strawberry creek. Cool getaway in the mountains when it's hot in other locations. Magical winter retreat in the colder months. Newly remodeled with all fresh paint inside, comfortable furniture and all the amenities you could want.
Corner lot with fruit trees in the backyard. Enjoy the mountain feel with tall trees, squirrels and the occasional elk or deer. Awesome hikes all around. Downtown Pine is three miles away with great shopping and dining options.
Strawberry, Arizona is a popular weekend getaway place for the desert-dwellers that escape the summer heat from the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. Strawberry sets at an elevation of about 6,000 feet which means meadows of springtime wildflowers, cool refreshing summer temperatures, brilliant autumn colors, an abundance of wildlife and tranquility. Strawberry AZ shares the pristine scenic beauty of the Mogollon Rim Country with its sister towns of Payson and Pine, Arizona. The Rim Country boasts the largest stand of Ponderosa Pine forests in the world.
The historic charm remains today as exemplified by the oldest schoolhouse in Arizona which was built in 1885. As a relic of the old pioneering days, the Strawberry schoolhouse still stands and is a frequent stop for visitors to Strawberry. It is a must-see spot on any visit to the region.
We allow you to self check in and out. We have a separate fenced off, RV space off to the side of the backyard where we spend occasional weekends. If we are there, we are readily available for any issues or concerns. We are also always available through VRBO.
Whole home is yours. Great backyard to enjoy your time in the woods. Spend time relaxing on the front porch or in the back yard. Grill available on back porch.
Our home is pet friendly (up to 2 small dogs or one large dog).
We do have security cameras placed both in the front and in the back of the home and facing the driveway.
While this home is well appointed for a family, it may not be suitable for young children, under 2 years of age as there are many items in the home that can be damaged or broken by little fingers.
Our home sleeps 7 people max. Prior permission must be given for any additional people.
The back yard is not fenced and it backs up to a creek bed that flows around 3 months every year.
Car is recommended. Please note that the cabin is located at a higher elevation (5800 feet) and the last 1/2 mile access to the house is via relatively flat dirt road. In winter or stormy weather, snow or mud may make it preferable to have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. There is room for 3 vehicles to park in the driveway and additional parking if needed on the side of the house for your toys.
The entrance to the cabin is up 3 steps onto the porch. Hand railing is provided, but no ramp is available.

The host are amazing. Check in and out was easy. Our stay was great. Had Elk come by the property every morning and evening. We enjoyed our hikes that were all near the property. Would definitely stay there again.
Nice, comfortable home. Very relaxing. Best part: the "wild"-life...got to pet a cow elk! She and others visited daily!

Our stay was amazing. Let me start off with the elk grazing in the backyard. To be so immersed in nature yet so close to town was incredible. The house was beautifully appointed, and it was such a treat to relax in the sauna after a day of exploring. We can't wait to go back.

Lovely cabin, very clean and quiet! The best part of the stay was all of the animals roaming around, the elk literally came to the yard to eat the apples that fell from the apple tree. And we can’t forget the zebra across the street, such a cute surprise. We will definitely be back for another stay.
The cabin was so cute and cozy. Any issue we had was quickly handled by the owners. They were very attentive to any concern or question. Loved the little amenities they had for us including the Strawberry wine!
Friendly town, lots of great food! Cabin well furnished and comfortable. Really enjoyed all the wild elk roaming around everywhere! Sit on the front or back porches and watch them eat the apples from the trees in the yard. Beautiful animals!

Thank you for the stay, Mary! So glad you got to experience the area and our friendly local elk.
Perfect spot. Close to all sorts of hiking and trails and the Tonto natural bridge is a must.. The neighbors were very welcoming, we joined them one night for a fire and music. The sauna is absolutely perfect! The decoration and layout is absolutely perfect! I would highly recommend if you are trying to get away from the noise, this is the spot.
Cabin in the woods was beautiful. Very comfortable. Very clean and very well equipped with essentials. Enough room for 6 adults. We saw Elk in the yard both days a plus. We loved it and will be back.
Had a wonderful time in this cute little cabin. Enjoyed the little spa. Loved sitting on the back porch. Spent every morning out there until it got too warm. Saw quite a few elk on the property as well. Would like to come again.

Sally was a wonderful guest. We’d love to host her again any time.
I loved this place. It was so beautiful and somewhat peaceful.. lol the donkey and roosters were our alarm but I loved every second. The place was cozy and well decorated. Thank you so much for sharing your home
Cabin wonderful. Extremely neat from outside appearance to inside. Area was like being in a zoo: lots of elk, horses and a baby colt across the street, the zebra, donkeys, goats, and other animals just a block away. Places close by to hike and good places to eat. Cabin looks even better than the pictures. ENJOY!!
The house was easy to find and get into. All of the strawberry decorations and dishes were adorable. The fire pit outside and the sauna were perfect in the winter time, and everyone had a great time outside. Our only complaints were the high pitched keening noise that was audible in the living room, and that it wasn’t as rural as we thought it was going to be.If you're looking for a cozy cabin with room for the whole family, this would be a great choice. Thanks for having us!
We really enjoyed our 3-night stay. The house is well-appointed, was clean, laid out nicely, and has 3 usable, nicely-decorated bedrooms (though we only used one). The sauna worked as advertised and the backyard was a nice place to hang out and chat. The house heated up quickly and wasn't drafty - well-insulated. A quiet neighborhood, though in an area with a lot of chain-link fences, yards filled with "works-in-progress", etc. - definitely not an upscale neighborhood but also felt reasonably safe and folks seemed to keep to themselves. Very close to "downtown" Strawberry (about 1.2 miles) and tons of hiking trails all around. We didn't need to reach out to the owners, but they proactively offered an early check-in which was a really nice touch. Would definitely stay here again!
We stayed for three nights. Super easy to enter the property. Home was extremely clean and bed was very comfortable! The home has everything you need and the owners go out of the way to supply extras- coffee and snacks! Owners were in touch with is from booking to check out. The home is in an area with many animals so if you have kids - they will love it!!
The cabin was adorable and had such a cozy, home feel. Everything was super easy and clean, and everyone on the trip had a blast! Will definitely be looking to rent this place again in the winter!!! :)

About the host
Hosted by Kim Corder
Hi, we're Kim and Jim Corder. We both work our day jobs and have invested in a magical property where we want to spend time in retirement. Until that time, we are opening up this home to others to enjoy.
Why they chose this property
I loved this property the first time I drove up to it. We drove past a little farm that had a zebra(!), and saw this beautiful log cabin with pine trees in front and a creek bed in back. It was just lovely.
What makes this property unique
The house is in a quiet neighborhood in Strawberry valley. Just 3 miles to Pine and 18 miles to Payson. There are lots of birds and wildlife. We often see elk in the evenings wandering through the neighborhood! It's close to hiking, biking, shopping, fishing, and great restaurants. We love it here.
