About this property
WATERFRONT COTTAGE RENTAL
WATERFRONT COTTAGE BUILT 1952
An iconic Seldovia home is now available for rent. This idyllic cottage home, built-in 1952, has been home to many Seldovia families. It is built on the historic old boardwalk that once ran the entire length of Main Street prior to the 1964 quake. The lower level on the boardwalk is a warehouse with a washer & dryer, up a gentle flight of stairs to the kitchen & sitting area, two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The kitchen is fully appointed with Cuisinart, Kitchen Aid Mixer, and press pot for coffee; owners live next door if you need anything. A steep staircase takes you to two more bedrooms. The wrapped deck includes a BBQ, planters, and furniture. We purchased the house in 1976 and enjoyed it as a weekend retreat from our busy lives in Anchorage. It is one of the most photographed scenes in Seldovia, the first glimpse of town from the bridge when arriving from the airstrip. The home is built on pilings over the slough, a tidal estuary of Seldovia Bay. Enjoy the energy of the daily tides and the many varieties of birds, including eagles with scenic mountains in the background. You can fish for salmon from the beach below the deck in June, watch the 5K salmon shuffle run down the boardwalk the morning of July 4th, see otters playing in the slough below the house, and admire the perennial garden park just outside the door. Visit www.seldovia.comto see what’s going on in the community, see live webcams, and make plans for activities. You otter be here, you're going to love it!
The rate is based on two bedrooms on the main floor. If you need a third or fourth bedroom, the rate is an additional $25 per bedroom per night.
