The best of Mount Desert Island is at your fingertips at this countryside home in Bar Harbor, where you'll be within easy walking distance of Glen Mary Park and a children's wading pool. The center of town and the Village Green is only half a mile north, so you can walk to restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops, and boutiques, not to mention the Bar Harbor Shore Path that traces the ocean coast less than a mile northeast. The boundary of Acadia National Park is immediately south, with several park landmarks - including the Cadillac Mountain North Ridge Trail, less than two miles west; the Hulls Cove Visitor Center, three miles northwest; and Eagle Lake, three miles west.

Built in 1930, this historical home has a classic design immediately apparent on the front porch, where you can come home from hiking, kayaking, or cycling to relax in a rocking chair with a cold drink and a view of the surrounding neighborhood. Inside, you'll find a living room with sofas and a TV and a kitchen that's well appointed with white appliances that include an electric stove and a dishwasher for easy clean-up. Use the gas grill to barbecue fresh Maine seafood each evening, and find comfortable space for four at the dining room table.

Stay away. This is a run down, moldy, musty 100 year old house in desperate need of renovation.
The pictures are very misleading. They don't show the stains, the holes in the walls, the code violating "repairs." the neighbors told us that the place is used primarily as student housing for the local college, and it looked like it. We paid seventyonehundred for 16 days, which comes to over fourforty day. For that kind of money, you should be able to get someplace nice, right? It makes you wonder why you should bother with sites like VRBO since they obviously didn't provide any vetting. A home renovation company put their sign in front of the house while we were there, so clearly the owners knew it needed renovations; they just wanted to squeeze in one last tenant before they fixed up the place, apparently.

Great location, but house needs some love
It was great to have a house to stay in that was so close to downtown and a great playground since we had our 2.5 year old with us. But we would never stay in this house again because it needs a lot of work. The house is lacking in decor and just overall upkeep. Holes in walls, toilet tank chipped, mattresses are old. The kitchen was a plus and did come with all the necessary kitchen supplies but there was nothing in the way of seasonings, coffee/tea, or any other little bonuses. This house is pretty bare bones for the price. We will definitely be looking to stay elsewhere next time we stay in Bar Harbor.

A great location
This is our first time staying in Bar Harbor that is NOT in a hotel. The location of this home is great - a 10-15 minute walk into town, no hassle trying to park. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable. It's great to have a washer and dryer too! We were quite comfortable as a family of 3 in this home.

Family Trip
Location is the number one asset of this house, easy & pleasant walk to town. All the basics were well stocked, paper towels, soap, garbage bags, toilet paper, dishwashing soap & laundry detergent. The AC while typically not needed, worked well. Communication with management company was very good. The furnishings were perfectly adequate. The house was sufficient for our family as we were out and about most days. The front porch was lovely but, needs more furniture. There was only a square table and two chairs. No rocking chairs as indicated in the description. A family could not eat out there with our bringing chairs from the dining room. Lighting inside was poor. There were very few working lamps. The biggest thing that renters need to be aware of are the stairs. They are extremely steep and the steps themselves are very high. While this is typical of older houses, I would be very concerned if I were traveling with children, seniors or anyone with mobility issues.

Good enough!
It is super basic, I was hoping it would have a bit more charm. I will say it was an AMAZING location and had all the basic things we needed (towels, toilet paper, wash cloths, etc.). FYIs: backyard is not usable, grass was overgrown and just not somewhere you want to hangout if thats important to you. Stairs are very steep, not uncommon for old homes, saying in case someone with bad knees is staying. Not bad, not great is my honest opinion. I would love for whoever owns this house to fix it up a bit more, the neighborhood deserves better than this!
