About this property

Peaceful Adobe home between Taos/TSV- Mountain Views, Hot Tub, Summer Garden

Welcome to Pinon Paradise, our serene mountain retreat! Located between Taos (10 miles) and the Ski Valley (9 miles), it is perfect for summer and winter activities. Shops and restaurants in Arroyo Seco are only 3 miles away.

This home is truly special and unique. The extensively landscaped grounds are incredible. Guests are encouraged to pick and eat seasonal herbs and vegetables as well as cuttings from the wildflower garden. Depending on the time of year, you may be able to enjoy herbs, fresh vegetables, apples and grapes! In the winter, the snowy backdrop is the perfect end to a powdery ski day.

The home has high vigas ceilings and radiant heat floors. The back of the house has breathtaking views of Taos Mountain and spectacular sunrises. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to prepare meals. There are two king bedrooms and a queen sleeper sofa (that is actually comfortable! It is a platform pull out with a gel mattress). There is one full bathroom.

Outside, there is a private hot tub with overhead string lights. The hot tub has views of the mountain that are the perfect end to a long day. The fire pit is surrounded by four large Adirondack chairs and encourages you to sit and relax (blankets are provided for the cool desert evenings).

If you are traveling with small children, there is a pack and play available.

4 wheel drive or chains required during snow.

Please note there is a Casita on the same property, situated with maximum privacy for each home. The homes are about 20 yards apart. Each home has it's own driveway and hot tub, but the grounds (fire pit, garden) are shared by both properties. If you have a larger group, please see the listing for reserving both properties as a "compound."

While this is a new listing, this property has been rented for years with numerous five star reviews. We have decided to rent without a management company because we want to know you, our guests, better!

Great place for a ski vacation!

If you are coming to Taos to ski, this is a great place. Warm and clean. Make sure to be clear in directions before you get close, because cell signal is rough.

Nice Outdoor Area

The outdoor garden was beautiful, The sitting area at the end of the walk had a nice view of the mountains. Firewood was provided and we had a nice outdoor fire in the round covered fireplace. Some convenience/maintenance items could be improved. The Fire detectors were missing, there weren't a large number of steps at the entrance but they were very tall and hard to walk up, the bedrooms were dimly lit and had no chairs to sit on to put on shoes, the hot water heater had a repaired pipe that was slightly leaking and this heater was very loud cutting on and off, the bed was very tall and was very hard to get into with no step stool, the picnic type dining table with the long bench seats was uncomfortable to use.

Magical property with stunning views

We absolutely loved this property. The adobe home was charming and rustic while also being well supplied with everything we needed. The views of the mountains, the fire pit, the hot tub, and the garden all added up to make this home a very special slice of New Mexico that my family and I would love to return to. The host Amy was also super friendly and responded quickly to questions.

Wonderful paradise

The property was perfect- everything was clean and tidy. The home was well equipped with bonus items (oils, spices, extra paper towels, laundry soap) that were unexpected but awesome! The hot tub was great and clean and comfortable. We enjoyed it most evenings. We loved the view of Taos mountain in the morning with coffee and in the evening. The gardens were another added bonus and the yard and grounds were immaculate. Can’t wait to come back! We miss it already..

Wonderful Casita!

My friends and I had a wonderful few days in the beautiful house at the end of March. The interior was very comfortable and had many personal touches not common in rentals these days. We also enjoyed the fire pit with it's gorgeous views of the mesa and mountains, and even made friends with a local dog. The hot tub was also amazing for relaxing after a day skiing or just simply relaxing. We would happily stay again!

A very nice house with a beautiful mountain view

We love our warm and cozy 5 nights stay in this skiing season. It can be one of the hottest properties in VRBO if it's organized and cleaned better. We love the remoteness of the house. It's better to arrive before dark for an easier drive on the unpaved road with sharp turns. 4 wheel drive is preferred. The way to Tao's Skiing Valley can be called a scenic drive. Ms Amy is quick in responding, check in is smooth.

Adobe home with gorgeous mountain views

We loved this beautiful adobe home. It was artfully decorated, cozy, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen/dining/living area is large and open; the bedrooms are roomy with comfy beds. There are huge picture windows and an outdoor seating/firepit area that were great for watching the gorgeous sunsets overs Taos Mountain and stargazing in the clear night sky. We appreciated the outdoor blankets that allowed us to sit ouside in the cool temperatures. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub. There are many scenic drives and hiking opportunities in the area. We had wonderful meals at Farmhouse Cafe and the Taos Mesa Brewing mothership location which is close to the Rio Grande Gorge bridge. The host provided excellent directions to the home and was always quick to respond. We’d love to return in the summer in order to experience the garden.

We had a longer summer vacation planned and stayed at the property for a few nights along the way. We stay in places as a getaway from the heat as well as the hustle and bustle of the city and this rental provided. It has amazing views of the mountains and is relatively secluded. There are plenty of activities within driving distance, we went hiking, white water rafting and some shopping in the Taos plaza. I didn't book through VRBO and didn't have phone service, so had no way of communicating with the owner or caretaker. There is a rulebook with a way to contact the caretaker if you book through VRBO. We wanted to use the firepit but after having to research the laws, it's illegal without getting a permit 48 hours ahead, so we refrained. The kitchen has a full array of utensils if needed. The beds are comfortable but I forgot that not many houses in Taos have central cooling so it made for some warmer nights than we're accustomed. Unfortunately for us, the hot tub water was filthy.

Cute taos trip

Very cute Lil home. Clean and comfortable house. Hot tub was great. Comfortably fit four adults. Road in was a little off the beaten path but as long as you followed directions you were fine. Wish I could have been there in the summer to utilize the gardens! Less than thirty from the ski resort

Perfect Property. Why Would Anyone Stay in the Ski Valley?

If you're coming up to Taos to ski and considering staying at one of the overpriced properties in the ski valley itself you should probably reconsider; your judgment is questionable. Poor decision making is not something you want to bring to this mountain. Over the years I've stayed at a number of rentals, both in and around the ski valley, and can say without hesitation that "Pinion Paradise" is where you want to camp out. Fifteen minutes from the base area, sited on some seriously gorgeous wooded acreage with nice views of Taos Mountain. Newer house with a large, well-equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms each with a television and a living room made for relaxing after a hard day on the slopes. The private outdoor hot tub comfortably seats four and is just outside the kitchen door. There appears to be another rental nearby (maybe 20 yards away) but the only "neighbors" we encountered were the local pack of curious pooches who came around whenever bacon was being fried up. If this is your first trip to the ski valley, particularly during the winter season, save yourself some money and stay here. Taos Ski Valley isn't Aspen or Vail, not by a longshot. Unless you want to drive in to Taos proper there's not all that much to do and very limited dining options, particularly on weekdays. You're better off sticking around this cozy corner of Valdez, maybe grabbing dinner at Aceq in Arroyo Seco (10 minutes away) and soaking the night away thinking about which runs you're going to hit the next day.

Beautiful Taos adobe cottage

We loved our three nights in this cozy adobe cottage! Short drive to Taos ski resort(20min) and the house was just lovely! Gorgeous snowfall made it a winter wonderland while we were there and our kids enjoyed the sleds available and we all enjoyed the hot tub to end each day and the gorgeous views!

Beautiful setting with mountain views

The house and grounds were lovely and comfortable. The artwork and decor were very tasteful and appropriate for northern New Mexico. We enjoyed the views of the mountains, the hot tub in the cool evenings and access to the vegetable garden (picked carrots and squash for dinner one night). Location is close to the Ski Valley, Arroyo Seco and Taos. The owner was always quick to respond to questions and the check in process was super easy. FYI, there is another home on the property close to this one. This is very clearly stated in the description. We had neighbors for part of our stay which decreased the feelings of solitude but did not detract from the overall satisfaction of our visit.

Wonderful get-away!

Beautiful and well appointed house. All amenities - hot tub was great to relax muscles after hikes, bouldering and fishing streams. Beautiful view of mountains, fruit on trees, vegetables in garden, flowers in garden. Quiet, remote, easy access to Arroyo Seco and Taos town center. Our best stay in Taos yet!

We purchased this property in 2017 after a ski trip to Taos that winter reminded us how much we loved this special corner of the world.

Why they chose this property

From the first time we set foot on the property, we knew that it was "our place." We wanted a home where our children could play and where we felt at peace. It has become our haven in this crazy and busy world, now more than ever.

What makes this property unique

We absolutely love the outdoor space of this property. From the garden and fresh lavender in the summer to snowy winter mornings, it is amazing.
