Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, from the custom craftsmanship and premium finishes to the spacious gathering areas overlooking beautiful Lake James.

Wake each morning to breathtaking lake views. Spend your days swimming from the dock, enjoying the rare sandy, shallow swim area, exploring the famous Lake James sandbar just across the lake, or cruising the water aboard our optional pontoon rental. In the evening, gather around the fireplace, roast marshmallows over the fire pit, or relax on the covered deck while watching another spectacular Lake James sunset.

Perfect for family vacations, reunions, and multi-generational getaways, The Green Cottage comfortably accommodates up to 14 guests with four bedrooms, four full baths and two half baths, two fully equipped kitchens, two fireplaces, and over 3,000 square feet of beautifully designed lakefront living.

Main Living Area

The heart of the home features an open-concept great room with a gas fireplace and expansive lake views through a 16-foot sliding glass door. The gourmet kitchen showcases maple cabinetry, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a large island designed for gathering family and friends.

Step outside to the 300-square-foot covered deck with a vaulted ceiling, comfortable seating, and panoramic views of Lake James. It's the perfect place for morning coffee, family meals, or watching the sunset over the water.

Upper Level

Designed with comfort and privacy in mind, the upper level features three private ensuite bedrooms. The spacious primary suite showcases a soaring cathedral ceiling and a luxurious ensuite bath with an oversized walk-in shower, rain shower head, handheld sprayer, and bidet.

The second king suite offers its own private bath.

The custom bunk room comfortably sleeps up to eight with four full-size bunk beds, each thoughtfully designed with its own reading light, storage cubby, and awning window.

A centrally located loft includes a full-size washer and dryer, making extended stays as comfortable as home.

Lake Level

Just steps from the shoreline, the walkout Lake Level offers 850 square feet of beautifully appointed living space designed for comfort, privacy, and relaxation. This inviting retreat features a king ensuite, fully equipped kitchen with maple cabinetry and quartz countertops, a cozy living room with a gas fireplace highlighted by a handcrafted copper mantel, and its own washer and dryer.

Warm walnut and red oak accents, milled from trees harvested on our family property, bring the beauty and history of Lake James indoors. Sliding glass doors open to a covered lakeside patio with a gas fire table, wood-burning fire pit, and easy access to the dock, sandy swimming area, and lake.

Crafted with Character

The Green Cottage is more than just a newly built vacation home. Throughout the home you'll discover handcrafted details that reflect our family's connection to Lake James, including a walnut accent wall in the primary suite, custom red oak beam wraps and kitchen ceiling details, and wood milled from trees harvested on the family property behind the cottage.

Outdoor Living

Life at the lake is meant to be enjoyed outdoors. Relax on the covered deck, gather around the lakeside fire table, roast marshmallows over the wood-burning fire pit, or spend the afternoon swimming, floating, boating, or exploring the sandbar.

Guests enjoy full access to the boat dock, swimming area, and lake. The owners may also have boats docked there and may occasionally access the dock during your stay.

The rare sandy, shallow lake bottom makes this one of the best swimming areas on Lake James for children and adults alike.

An optional 20-foot pontoon boat rental is also available, making it easy to spend the day exploring the lake.

Reservations

Our summer calendar fills quickly with returning guests who reserve year after year. Summer rentals are Saturday to Saturday, with check-in at 3:00 p.m. and check-out at 10:00 a.m.

Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends typically require a 4-night minimum stay, while spring and fall shoulder season stays are generally available with a 3-night minimum.
