The cottage and our stay exceeded all expectations. It was so nicely done from the amenities down to the nautical decor. We look forward to coming back!
The house was the perfect getaway for my husband and I! Clean and so nicely decorated! We loved sitting outside by our bonfire. The location was great. Very close to restaurants, cute river towns and the river tours to the Boldt Castle. Definitely would recommend. Karen and Art. Chesterfield NJ
Very nice cottage. We would return to the same location. Only improvement that needs done is the holes in the driveway. Very very bumpy. Very quiet and we enjoyed the fire pit and view of the water. Even saw some freighters go by.
We loved this place. Sparrow cottage is brand new with modern furnishings. The kitchen is compact but had everything we needed. Pretty bathroom and bedroom. The unit feels like a modern hotel room with the benefit of a kitchen and beautiful outdoors. Each cottage has its own fire ring which is stocked everyday with firewood, situated on a large open grassy area. There is a marina on the property which partially blocks the river view, but we enjoyed watching the boats. The owners were friendly and responsive - we reached them by text and they always responded right away. This is a super cute place, I will definitely come again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "Sparrow" cottage. It was very clean and just the right size for the two of us. The entire property at The Ledges was kept up with the utmost of care. Situated by the docks made just sitting and watching boats and birds a delight. The location is very near the downtown area where all the restaurants and shops are. If you want to get away from it all and unwind, this is the place for you!Thank you, Amy and Nick!
My wife and I were staying in Alexandria Bay for one night and this was a beautiful little private hideaway.
The room was pristine and excellently decorated. Everything was great.
We got to the property after dark, in the rain, so we didn't avail ourselves of any of the amenities, but the cottage was very easy to find.
I highly recommend The Ledges.
Quiet, clean, comfortable. Beautiful views and sunsets.
Renting this property was seamless. Easy rental, check in and check out.

About the host
Hosted by Nick & Amy Schaefer
The Ledges Resort & Marina started with my grandparents Nicholas J Schaefer and his wife Amy. They purchased the property in 1961 and made it their home. In 1963 they built a motel and named it The Ledges. They also opened a German restaurant on the property named The Old World Inn. They closed the restaurant 1982, but continued with the motel. In later years the motel was managed by my parents, Jerome and Deborah Schaefer. They expanded into the marina and cottage rental business. In 2013 after 50 years in business we made a decision as a family to close the business and tear down the motel.
In 2014 my wife and I purchased the property from my parents. We remodeled the old buildings and built brand new cottages from the ground up. We re-opened to guests in the spring of 2015. I was named after my grandfather, Nicholas, and it just so happens that my wife’s name is Amy. So, once again Nick & Amy are your hosts at the Ledges!
