About this property

Old Fashioned Suite - Cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan

The Old Fashioned Suite is a quaint cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan. The main room is an old log cabin. We remodeled this comfortable space into the main living area with a wood-burning fireplace, bathroom, and laundry accommodations.

Added to the front of the cabin are a new kitchen, counter for cooking/eating, and dining area. Above the living area is a roomy loft with bunk beds. Facing the lake, at the back of the cabin, is a bright and sunny sitting room with a pull-out sofa and a master bedroom with a queen-size bed.

A spacious deck faces the lake and provides a porch swing and umbrella-topped table and chairs for open-air dining. Adirondack chairs surround a large fire pit near the shoreline. Sunrises and moon showers can often be seen.

It is fun to see the large ships and sailboats as you enjoy the sight and sounds of the waves. The nearby ship canal and the Land Trust have many hiking trails and there are several sandy beaches that are accessible by foot, bike, or car. The property is located in a secluded setting far off the main road making it a wonderful quiet escape to enjoy campfires, swimming, and outside activities.

Weekend Retreat with Family
The cabin is exactly as described online. It is an old cabin. Therefore, there will be a couple of cobwebs, but overall the cabin was very clean. Located in a very quiet wooded area right on the lake. Really enjoyed the large lawn for the kids to run around on. The beach consists of crushed shells, which my kids were amazed with! Our kids also loved all the kid friendly touches in the cabin, from the dvds, books, and games to the wooden Noah's Ark. There was no heat, but the cabin stayed pretty warm throughout the night. Did use the space heater for a little bit downstairs. The kids stayed plenty warm in the loft. Overall, it was a great weekend stay!

Magical stay on Lake Michigan
Our second stay at the Old Fashioned Suite, but certainly won’t be our last. The old fashioned suite is a wonderful mix of the old classic log house, but with all the updates and additions to make it modern and comfortable. Being right on the lake is so peaceful and beautiful. Had a great week - we’ll be back!

Sturgeon Bay perspective.
We have been coming to Door County for over 20 years and usually rent in the Fish Creek to Bailey's Harbor area. This was our first time near Sturgeon Bay. The Cottage was very nice and the view of Lake Michigan was great. The Sturgeon Bay area has plenty of attractions and good restaurants. The Cottage was cozy and comfortable. Our hosts Sandy and Art were great neighbors and we enjoyed meeting them.

Nice Place to Stay
The house location was great we have bomb fires almost every night. The breeze coming from the lake was very nice and cool. The house could use a deep clean and the back screen did not stay on the door so we could leave the door opened. We would stay there again everything was nice. The loft bedroom could use a different type of bed. The cute baby bed was only good for our luggage, A twin or even a full bed would be better.

Great set up & use of space. Loved the spiral staircase to loft. Comfortable beds. Enjoyed the games on hand. Could hear the waves lapping the shore. Sunrises we’re beautiful. Took several trips to lighthouses & canal up the way.

My husband and our family have been coming to Door County most of our lives and thoroughly love the location. It was always a dream of mine to own a place on S. Lake Michigan Drive. In 2007, we were lucky enough to find our dream cabin.

Why they chose this property

After a decade of enjoying that little piece of heaven, the opportunity arose to expand our dream and purchase the neighboring site and cabin which we now lovingly refer to as "The Old Fashioned Suite".

What makes this property unique

This property offers seclusion and privacy.
