About this property

Rustic, one bedroom, cabin, hot tub, creek access, firepit.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Come and enjoy trout fishing on 1000 feet of our private, stocked, creek. This is a very popular area for vacationing because of the trout fishing, kayaking, gem mining, whitewater rafting, and hiking. There are many vacation homes along Wayah Creek, and along this road. The "Bear's Den" is a one bedroom, rustic, unique and cozy cabin, located in the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. Surrounded by the beautiful mountains, it is the perfect getaway for couples or singles looking to relax, escape city life and unwind. The inside is rustic with barn wood accents, including barn wood window shutters, and a beautiful, hand crafted grey and brown barn wood queen size bed, a pebble stone tiled floor in the bathroom with glass shower doors, and plush bathroom towels. Relaxing in the hot tub is the perfect way to end a long day of sightseeing, which is complete with lights and a waterfall feature. Take a short walk to the creek for a dip in the cool mountain water, and make sure to bring your fishing poles! You might get lucky and catch a rainbow or brown trout. The creek is shared with the owners, but our guests are welcome to relax and enjoy the property as well. Our property has easy access all year long with a flat driveway.
The Appalachian Trail is about 15 minutes away. The property is 12 minutes to downtown Franklin. Our beautiful town is an “Appalachian Trail Community” and attracts many hikers and people just wanting to see our exquisite waterfalls, mountain lakes and majestic mountains.

Weekend away at the bears den
My husband and I had a very relaxing stay at the bears den. Everything was clean and very cozy! Loved the hot tub! It wasn’t quite as isolated as it seemed in the pictures but it was still very nice!

Beautiful and comfortable
The kitchen was well stocked. It’s close to amenities but you feel like your remote. I recommend this cabin!

Lovely place, beautiful setting, and wonderful hosts
I have over 3M+ air miles from my business and personal travel all over the world for the last 40+ years. Have experienced the highs/lows of resort, hotel, and residential accommodations (like VRBO) in many wonderful places. But...we found a slice of heaven at the Bear's Den that I am almost afraid to share with others. Gina and Brian are excellent hosts. Their place was immaculate, well appointed, nicely designed for a couple of any age, and the location is breathtaking. Franklin is a short distance away and we visited Highlands within an hour. And if you promise not tell anyone; if you head east on the road that the property sits on, you may experience some of the most fabulous scenery my wife and I have ever seen. Well done, Gina & Brian, well done.

AMAZING!
This cabin was AMAZING! My husband and I loved every detail of it. It has beautiful craftsmanship, well thought-out needs for the traveler, and was in a perfect location for all the outdoor adventures we pursued. The creek provides soothing and relaxing sounds after a long day of outdoor activities. Autumn was just about to fully show-out in this area and we were so glad we got to experience it here. Y’all have a very special place here and we hope to visit again! (P.S. who knew the heater in the bathroom would be such a great touch?! Me!! 😊)

My husband have lived in Franklin for twenty years and absolutely love living in the beautiful Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. We own a construction business and have four kids. This is our first VRBO listing and we are very excited to host guests!

Why they chose this property

This is a beautiful, quaint, one bedroom cabin surrounded by majestic mountains. The cabin has barn wood siding, a front porch with two rockers, a screened in porch with a hot tub, and a table and two chairs for outdoor dining. There is an outdoor firepit and a grill as well. Inside the cabin is one queen bed, a living/den area with loveseat, chair, TV, internet, kitchen, tiled bathroom floor and shower. The cabin is decorated with barn wood furniture built by my husband, including barn wood shutters.

What makes this property unique

Flat driveway with easy access all year long, close to town, close to Appalachian Trail, hiking on nearby trails, beautiful local waterfalls, kayaking, tubing.
