Located on one of the most highly rated bass lakes in the nation, this waterfront home, aptly named Lake Effects, is beautifully remodeled, with wonderful views of Toledo Bend. Lake Effects is situated on a quiet lane and offers an inviting back porch, a cozy fire pit with seating near the water for gathering 'round in the evenings, a wonderful fishing pier with built-in seating, and many of the comforts of home, including WIFI, a large master suite and a fully equipped and well-stocked kitchen. This is the perfect place to fish, kayak, nature watch, spend time with your family and friends, and enjoy all that Toledo Bend has to offer, or just unplug and unwind!
So much splendor and beauty awaits you at Toledo Bend. Of course, fishing is the number one attraction, and if you decide to leave your boat at home, there are many boat rental businesses and guide services available to take you out on the lake to fish, or you can always wet your line right off the pier! It's true that many come out to fish, but there are so many other activities awaiting you!
If golfing is your thing or if you'd like to try it, bring your clubs and go golfing at nearby Cypress Bend Golf Course, an 18-hole, championship golf course on the Audubon Golf Trail, with breathtaking views of Toledo Bend! Cypress Bend Marina also boasts a beautiful pavilion, boat launch, and a beach for swimming!
Just a few minutes away is the Toledo Town area (just west of the 4-way stop at Hwy 6 and Hwy 191), where you can find groceries, fuel, restaurants, tackle and other fishing supplies, and just up the road into the town of Many, you will find more shopping and dining.
Just 45 minutes away is Natchitoches, Louisiana, the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, full of history, beauty, heritage and wonderfully unique architecture. Natchitoches shows off every year at its Christmas Festival of Lights, which runs each season from late November to early January, with a fabulous fireworks display every Saturday night. Natchitoches is also home to the oldest general store in the state, Cane River Brewing Company, and Northwestern Louisiana State University (Go Demons!). From the banks of the Cane River, you can also enjoy a riverboat cruise or a tour in a horse drawn carriage.

Loved that you guys had such a good time that you extended your stay with us, and absolutely loved all the individual notes the kids left us about what they enjoyed the most. Seems like the pier and the beds were the big winners there! Thanks for all the fun toys you left for others to enjoy!
Great property, super clean and comfortable. Host was great as she met us on check in and made sure there was nothing we needed. Would highly recommend as a place to stay. Outdoor arrangement was a nice touch and allowed for a relaxing stay!

This place was very clean. Renter had a lot of extras that were much appreciated. We loved the down time to visit with other family members and just relax. I would definitely recommend this rental.

Thank you for booking with us and for being amazing guests! Loved the adorable drawing your sweet children left us! (Will frame it and proudly display it.) So happy you caught big big fish off the pier!!! Hope to host you again.
Inside was immaculate and roomy but not big. The back porch is the perfect spot for your morning cup of coffee and the view is relaxing. Fire pit and fishing deck was a nice little downhill walk but niceWe will be back with our adult children

Thank you so much for the kind words and for booking with us for your Toledo Bend family fishing trip! It was a joy to meet you and your beautiful family! Looking forward to seeing y'all again!
We loved the cabin and the location. Being that it was on negreet cove that's where we wanted to fish. Lovely dock that runs out into the cove. We enjoyed several nights by the fire pit close to the water and the kids played hide and go seek around the yard. We had a very relaxing time. Would recommend this cabin.

About the host
Hosted by Matthew & Christi
Our occupations have necessitated us traveling all over the country, staying in some nice and, to be frank, some not so nice rental properties. Being southerners, I think we are born to be hospitable, as I've rarely met one who wasn't. But also, our time spent traveling has taught us a thing or two about hospitality -- how we want to be remembered as guests, and now how we want to be remembered as vacation rental property owners.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this property in 2017 and became weekend warriors, remodeling and making changes here and there. Almost five years later (how time flies!), our home is beautifully furnished and decorated, and only wanting of wonderful people who want to enjoy lake life and make lasting memories here. We will continue to make upgrades and improvements on the property.
What makes this property unique
Rurally situated, yet within minutes to shopping, parks, and local activities, this home offers most of the comforts you would find in your own home, including a fully equipped and well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and beautiful and peaceful views of the lake, whether you're sitting on the back porch, sitting around the fire pit, fishing on the pier, standing at the kitchen sink, or lounging on the loveseat in the living room. Don't be surprised to see an eagle fly over you while you're sitting on the pier, or see a majestic blue heron walking the shoreline, or graceful egrets as they wade and fly over the lake! This is the perfect place to be serenaded in the morning by song birds, or to see a roadrunner speeding by or deer grazing, and to catch a beautiful sunset as the evening fades.
Thank you for your interest in Lake Effects! We hope you stay with us and make some unforgettable memories here!
