The only issue we had was the long walk to the water, but it worked out. It was a nice stay!

My family went to celebrate our mothers 70th birthday. We loved the house. It had everything we needed and the views and landscaping were stunning. The living room was so comfortable and we spent a lot of time lounging there. We also loved the proximity to so many fun things to do. We definitely hope to visit again.

Jamie, we're delighted to hear that you and your family had such an amazing getaway at Lake Lured Away! We appreciate you taking the time share your complimentary feedback with us and future guests, and we look forward to hosting you again soon.
Everything about our stay was positive. There was plenty of room for my group to host everyone that was staying in Lake Lure comfortably. In my group there were 6 that stayed at Lake Lured Away and everyone had their own space and was very comfortable. All my other family members were only 5 minutes away in other cabins which was so nice. The air conditioning in the entire cabin was awesome! Everyone was able to find their own level of comfort. We hosted a family dinner one night and the kitchen provided everything that was needed that we didn’t bring. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous! The walk down to the dock wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I thought it would be. Nice railing to hold on to. There were only two areas where i feel like there should be a hand rail and after my sister fell leaving one night i was even more sure of it. Going down the stairs off the porch from the main area and before you get to the actual 80 stairs going to the dock. Us seniors needed assistance in these areas.During down time it was super quiet and peaceful. It rained the entire trip so we were limited as far as activities were concerned, but it was still a super relaxing fun time. There was plenty of parking, which was great considering we had a large group. The only things I can think of that would have made our stay even more perfect is for the bathroom door on the main floor to be able to be locked. There was one walk in incident because it won’t lock. Steam cleaning furniture too.

We apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future so we might find the perfect vacation rental to fit your needs and exceed your expectations.
Rambling lake view house with lakefront dock is family and pet-friendly. Spacious, comfy three-story floorpans provides ample quiet and social spaces. Watch boaters from the two-story dock or put your pooch in the big red canoe and explore Lake Lure. Loved the short drive to Black Mountain and Hendersonville. Wi-Fi wasn't always reliable, but other than that, a sweet summer getaway!

Thank you for your five-star review of Lake Lured Away, Nanci! We're delighted that you had an overall wonderful getaway, and we hope that we'll get the opportunity to host you again when you return to the area.
The property and grounds are a mature sanctuary! It’s so rare to have level yard, vegetation, lake front with a dock. It was the perfect retreat for our family.
While it’s an older home, the accommodations were comfortable, kitchen well equipped for cooking, and we enjoyed both the charcoal grill and solo stove.
The double deck/dock were thoroughly enjoyed, with plenty of toys, floats and life jackets!
Only suggestion would be to check/replace the kayak straps that are broken on both the 1 and 2 seater.
We will definitely return!

Kristy, we're so happy to hear you and your family had a fantastic experience at Lake Lured Away and enjoyed the gorgeous grounds and well-stocked dock. We can't thank you enough for your review, and we look forward to your return!
We had our dogs, mother in law, 3 adult kids, 2 daughter in laws & 1 grand baby. This house plenty of room to spread our all be together. Plenty of outdoor seating. We loved have our own dock to swim & fish from. Every bedroom has its own thermostat!!! More than ample supplies for all of us. My only suggestion is if you have a little one bring baby gate to keep them off the stairs. That is a personal need and did not discourage us to want to return.

This was one of the best trips we've had in a while. Lake Lure is such an underrated gem, and it'd be great to keep it that way. We had coffee on the porch in the mornings, watched bunnies in the yard in the afternoons, played ping pong and games in the basement and played card games upstairs.
We used the canoe and kayak and were treated to some of the best lake views as soon as we paddled out of our cove. We'd been to Lake Lure before, but we will definitely stay at this home again.
In addition to the views and the overall lovely home, Greybeard Rentals was far and away amazing. We had an issue with another home's teenagers trespassing on our dock, and the team immediately jumped into action and handled everything exceptionally well, even though it was after hours for them.
Thank you for an exceptional start to the summer. We will definitely be back.

We're also extremely pleased to hear that your interactions with our team at Greybeard Rentals just enhanced your experience all the more. We appreciate you sharing your valuable feedback with us and fellow travelers who might be considering this home for their lake retreat, and we're excited to help you plan your next trip to the Lake Lure/Asheville area soon!
We had a great time at this property. The actual property itself is beautiful and very spacious with plenty of parking. It is not exactly on the lake, which I feel was a tad bit misleading, however, it is a very short walk down a private walkway to their dock, which is on the lake. The upper deck of the boathouse was very comfortable, lots of shade and seating.. The boathouse itself had lots of toys and floats that we and the kids got a ton of use out of! The house itself is very spacious with plenty of room. It’s very comfortable. The only negative feedback I would have is that one of the upper bedrooms on the top level did have a dog urine scent to it which is probably unavoidable in a property that allows dogs. Otherwise the individual air units in each bedroom worked wonderfully and we were nice and cool the entire time. We would definitely return to this house in the future!

Alyssa, while we're delighted to hear you enjoyed your time at Lake Lured Away and loved the comfortable, spacious interior and private dock, we are so sorry for the issue you encountered with the dog urine smell. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so our housekeeping team can take care of it. I am pleased to share that as a direct result of your feedback, we've adjusted some of the listing information to clarify that while the private dock is lakefront, the home is across the street from the lake. Thank you again for your valuable review, and we look forward to hosting you again in the future!
We stayed for the Christmas holiday to be near family. The house easily accommodated the 8 of us. We enjoyed the first floor family room with TV. Unfortunately it was too cold to hang out downstairs to play games or ping-pong (would have been nice if it was wamer and there was a TV down there as well).
The house was amazing the view was spectacular. The last day warmed up enough to even enjoy the outside abit.
Very close to Chimney Rock Village which was nice go visit.
We cooked all meals in the galley kitchen which was well equipped with plenty of dishes,.pots, pans etc. The oven seemed slightly low in temperature vs the setting so we needed to drastically adjust some of our cooking times.
As indicated by management cell service and internet was very very limited. Which made it difficult to stay connected to work related items that we needed to attend to while away.
Overall our stay was great and we would certainly stay again if the opportunity presents itself.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback with us and future guests, and we look forward to hosting you again in the future—perhaps for a sunny spring or summer getaway!
We were so excited about visiting this house, and the communication with the property managers was excellent. But there were several problems that made it difficult to enjoy our weekend. First, my husbands foot went right through the rotting wood on the dock. He was lucky to escape with cuts and splinters - he could have broken his ankle. Second, the air conditioning did not work. It was so hot and humid in the house that all of bread got moldy - no bagels or toast for breakfast. Third, there were so many ants in the kitchen. The trash can did not have a lid and there was a long line of ants up the wall from the trash through the pantry. The heat, the ants and my husbands worry that someone else would fall through the dock
made it a very disappointing weekend for us.

Lauren, while we're pleased to hear that the communication with our team was excellent, we are sorry to hear that your overall experience at Lake Lured Away fell below expectations. We apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your honest and constructive feedback with us. I am happy to report that the dock has been repaired, and the home has been treated for ants since your stay. Regarding the air conditioning, this home has central AC on the main level and localized mini splits in the upper-level bedrooms (which we have made note of in the property description as a direct result of your feedback). All of the AC systems were working properly when we inspected them prior to your arrival. However, you are always encouraged to reach out if something isn't working or negatively impacting your stay so our team can resolve it during your stay. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future so we might regain your confidence and exceed your expectations.

Easter Break 2023
The house was very clean and the neighborhood was quiet and it would be a perfect spot if we would have been able to enjoy the lake activities as advertised. We rented this place on the lake for our family including 3 teenagers to enjoy the amenities that a lake has to offer. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and discovered that the lake level had been lowered in January for repairs and we did not have access to the kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. It was very disappointing for the family. It would have been nice if we had been informed of this when booking so we could have made other arrangements. We were told by neighbors that the lake level will be lowered every Jan for several years to fix the sewer pipes, so future renters should be informed if they plan on utilizing the lake activities. Also I would recommend someone check the unit before renters arrive as when we arrived, 2 smoke detectors were going off and there were no replacement batteries so we had to find a grocery store at night (in an area where we were unfamiliar). We tried calling Greybeard however the cell phone service was poor and would not let calls go out. We did enjoy the ping pong table and hiking. This would be a great place if the lake had water!!

Linda, while we're pleased to hear that you loved the quiet neighborhood and rec room with the ping pong table, we are so sorry to hear that your stay at Lake Lured Away was anything short of excellent. We apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. I wanted to confirm that we include lake draining dates in the listing description for guests who are considering booking the home during that time frame. While the lake typically begins refilling at the end of March, the exact timeline of when it is completely back to normal levels varies based on rainfall and other factors. In the future, we'd encourage you to reach out to the Town of Lake Lure to ensure it is back to normal for the dates you're looking at. Also, we require an inspection before every guest's arrival, and this home's inspector did not report any issue with the smoke detectors, which leads me to believe the issue came about after they checked the home and before you arrived. We do hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future so we might redeem this somewhat poor experience and exceed your expectations!

Over all it was a beautiful areas and the lake was amazing. We rented a boat and that was amazing! Things stated in listing that were suppose to be there for water enjoyment were not there, the did give me a little refund for that ( no kayaks, life jackets, water toys etc) There was a horse fly issues in bottom half of house so kids weren’t going down stairs to play ping pong. The bed was comfortable and the size of house was great. We just able to use the whole house. The communication was good but we probably won’t rent from this rental company again.
