Modern Country House on the Shenandoah River

Come and immerse yourself in year-round nature and beauty of the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, only 70 mins from DC. There are 3 comfortable bedrooms and 3 full baths, and plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax in. Take a nature walk down to the beautiful Shenandoah river to float or kayak, visit many award winning wineries & breweries, farms, charming historical towns nearby, try your luck at the Charles Town Casino and hike the Appalachian trail!

The space
Enjoy the tranquility of this updated, modern house with vaulted ceilings and a large skylight. Open the patio door and surround yourself in nature; enjoy the view of the river and the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains (This area is known to be a "birding hotspot") or take a beautiful nature walk down to the river. During the spring and summer months, you are free to use the provided kayaks, river floats and other river accessories at your own risk, after signing an activity waiver.

There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the main level with SmartTVs; the master suite offers a King size bed with a premium Nectar Memory Foam mattress, the second comfortable queen bedroom with a it's own full bath. The brick room downstairs also has a SmartTV, books, toys, board games, a daybed and a full bathroom. The third bedroom, from the brick room, has a twin over full bunk-bed with a trundle and is perfect for children or guests who want more privacy.

There is a solo stove, gas grill on the deck and a large firepit just below.

You can spend your entire stay enjoying the calm rolling hills, abundant wildlife and the beautiful Shenandoah River, never leaving the property.

In 20 minutes, you can reach 3 Appalachian trailheads; Raven Rock, Bear's Den or Harper's Ferry. In addition, the house is ideally-located to follow the attractions and history of the Washington Heritage Trail, including Charles Town, Harper’s Ferry, Shepherdstown, Martinsburg and Berkeley Springs; where you can learn history, hike, shop, dine, and even soak in the healing mineral waters in America's first spa. Charlestown has a casino and the oldest horse racing track!

Or explore many award winning breweries and wineries in the surrounding Middleburg Virginia and Shenandoah Wine region. There are many family friendly farms in the area and fun activities for the kids.

We were drawn to the property because of the waterfront area with the fire pit. Upon arrival we found that the first fire pit had no accessible wood and the chairs were mostly broken. When we got down to the water we couldn’t even find the fire pit area because it was so overgrown there was no room for people. The wood was down there but we had no way to get it up to the house. The house proper was as advertised and the host was quick to respond. We didn’t have enough towels and had a hard time finding toilet paper for all the bathrooms.

My friends and I had a great memorial weekend. Songyee was very flexible with a couple of our requests and I very much appreciated it. Nice fire pit with wood available, a grill, and even some s'mores for roasting.

No response for door code No AC once in - temperature high 90’sAfter hours on the road to relax - with no response regarding door code, was very frustrating. Once we got into home, NO Air conditioning- the heat was unbearable. Never had such a bad experience.

Hi Christine, I’m so sorry about the mishap with your visit. We were visiting my parents in Korea, and I mistakenly got confused by the time difference and neglected to send you the access code. I have never had that happen before, and I felt absolutely awful about it. To make matters worse, the severe storm that passed through the area appears to have caused a lightning strike or power surge, which burned out the air conditioning control board. As soon as I learned of the issue, I immediately contacted an emergency HVAC technician to arrive as soon as he could. While waiting for them to arrive, I also reached out to several neighbors to see if anyone could help troubleshoot the problem. In the meantime, I also offered the use of our next-door neighbor’s cool living room as well as a neighboring VRBO for the night, but I understand you chose not to accept those options. I truly feel that I did everything I could to resolve a situation that was completely unexpected and beyond my control. I always strive to provide my guests with a comfortable and enjoyable stay, so I was genuinely heartbroken that your experience was affected by these unfortunate events. Again, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish you and your family all the best.

The house had plenty of room for our group. We appreciated all of the board games and ability to spend quality family time together. It was a bit of a hike to get to the river, but absolutely beautiful when you got there.

Stayed here with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday and explore Harpers Ferry. We enjoyed the house very much and we found all of the games and supplies that came with the house to be superior to other rentals that we have had. The hike to the lake is definitely as advertised for someone that is in really good shape part of it is stairs and the other part is a rudimentary trail that is on an incline. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed as city people having a weekend in the country feeling far away from everything. It felt like camping without all of the hassles of setting up and staying in a tent. We would definitely come back and the host was very responsive and generous.

Had a wonderful weekend with a beautiful view

We stayed there for a relaxing guys weekend. The house was lovely and very comfortable and the view was amazing. The host could not have been better. I recommend this place for anyone wanting a relaxing getaway and would go back myself sometime.

Open concept was very nice! Lots of extra sleeping options. Beds were very comfortable. The view was amazing and the hike to the River was a bit steep, however we all enjoyed the exercise! The only disappointment was the air quality in the house! The vents needed some attention and it had a Smokey smell to the main living area.Overall a nice VRBO!

Comfortable house with a beautiful view

Enjoyed our stay, hosts very easy to deal with. The house was comfortable and we enjoyed the view and the outside spaces and kayaks were a big hit with the fishermen, however access to the river was not ideal for our family of mixed ages requiring a drive to access the water.

You can use the tollway and the greenway and quickly find yourself on peaceful country roads, and surround yourself in nature. This home is perfect for nature lovers, adventure seekers, history buffs and casino goers! We've been mindful of guests of all ages and placed many touches around the house to make your stay comfortable and memorable.

What makes this property unique

There is so much to do and explore around here for people of all interests, all within a 20 minute to 1hr drive. Or stay on the property and enjoy everything that the beautiful nature walk and the Shenandoah river has to offer, (floating, kayaking, fishing and swimming) as well all the beautiful nature and animals that surround the house.
