Absolutely adorable both inside and out, this classic cottage is perched on a hilltop within 1000 feet of Lake Michigan! With partial lake views in the winter and an abundance of dense foliage in the summer, there will be no shortage of breathtaking sites surrounding you regardless of when you choose to visit. Plus, the grassy sideyard, private hot tub, and screened porch are charry on top when it comes to the exterior. Step inside and you will be spoiled by the remodeled interior boasting soaring ceilings, a contemporary full kitchen boasting white subway tile and stainless steel appliances, and modern furnishings throughout! The chef of the group can easily whip up tasty meals after a full day of adventure while the rest of the gang cozies up by the fireplace or streams a favorite movie in the media room complete with a mounted flatscreen TV and plush sofa. Plus, when it is time to hit the hay, one bedroom awaits on the main floor, and a lofted bedroom awaits upstairs to give everyone their own sense of privacy!

Fun Family Trip

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the house. The kids loved the hot tub and having fires in the back yard. We loved seeing the local deer roam through the neighborhood too. The house layout was great, plenty of room for our family to spread out and relaxed. We played some of the boardgames there and enjoyed movies at night to wind down. The walk to the beach wasn't too bad, but be prepared to hike down a lot of stairs to get there. We would come back again, we enjoyed our time here.

Quiet getaway

Very nice home in a secluded area with lots of outdoor animal friends! We had squirrels, chipmunks, birds and deer visit us! The hot tub felt amazing and we were a short drive to several beaches!

We loved the house and the location. The only downside would be parking, not much for a bigger vehicle, but overall not bad. The master bed was pretty stiff, nothing a mattress topper couldn’t fix. We loved how secluded it was, and the amenities such as the provided towels, washer, dryer, and hot tub. Overall, would recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay on Lake Michigan.

Delightful Retreat

Loved our stay in Michiana. Fantastic location, great neighborhood with private beach access just a short walk away. Had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. Rental was clean and instructions were clear. One note would be that the bed on the main level was a bit uncomfortable, would love for it to be upgraded to a new mattress and king size. Would definitely stay again!

Quick get away to check off another national park

Oh my goodness what a wonder property and a lovely stay! Hot tub already ready when we got there in December! Great location to see the dunes, local restaurants and breweries, and coffee stops. Will stay again! Only small improvements- better description of drive way really just a parking spot still a great parking area, instructions and safety for the fireplace in the inside only due to my Profession just looking out all, and shelves in showers. Other then that truly great

Perfect Girls Getaway!

A quick weekend getaway was in order for we busy moms and this was the best place! The cottage was the right size for us and had all the things we needed! Beds were comfy, home was clean and we were all comfortable. Seeing all the deer everywhere was super cool also! Just a note for anyone staying there, lots of steps to the cottage and inside to get up to the loft, wasn’t a big deal but just FYI! Also, only feedback would be to have lamps or a light source in the upper loft area. Otherwise it was awesome! Conveniently located for all the things we needed! Thank you!

Wonderful Location

This cottage was wonderful for our 4 night stay. The hot tub was so relaxing and the backyard area was very private. The updated kitchen and bathrooms were very nice and the 2 sitting areas made it easy for us to each watch what we wanted. The cottage does need a little TLC as there are a few cracked windows and some rotting wood outside. This listing is a short 5-10 minute walk to the beach and you can hear the calming sound of the waves from the backyard. We will be back again soon.

Nicely remodeled. Nice hot tub. Nice screened in porch. (Screens could use a cleaning from spider webs though) Having no bathroom in upstairs bedroom was inconvenient and it has to be quite cool downstairs for upstairs to be comfortable on hot days. Ad says there is a king bed, but there are only queens & twins. Enjoyed our stay.

This will be corrected on the listing. The screen doors catch a lot of cottonwood fluff that is hard to get completely off, but we will continue to try. Thank you!

Cozy cottage

This is in a good location to drive to a lot of things. Also, the master bed is comfy (the only one we used), and the hot tub is a nice plus. If you like to cook, and you drove to the property, you may want to bring a few of your own favorite kitchen implements. It was still cold enough at night that we were lucky to use the indoor fireplace. We did bring our own firewood. The saddest thing was that the walking beach access was closed for erosion replanting. It doesn't look as though that will reopen any time soon. There are several nice beaches within a 15-20 minute drive. There is enough room to spread out your toiletries if you move the towels around in the master bath, but as another mentioned, there is no dresser, so you will have to live out of your suitcase. We were there for 4 days. It was good for that amount of time in nice weather. Quiet, pleasant neighborhood.

Really Good

Pretty much everything I will share is consistent with the listing and past reviews. Very close to Lake Michigan. We could see it through the trees and hear the waves when the wind died down. Could be a 5* review with a couple improvements. A few things were broken. * The window above the kitchen sink is cracked. * There's a broken knob in the master bathroom. * The water level in the hot tub was down 6-10 inches. * There was no hot water in the master shower. Master sink yes, plenty... master shower no. Also the hot tub is "private" if by that you mean that you have exclusive use. But if by that you mean secluded and that you can't see five houses within 90 yards of the tub then it is not so "private." Otherwise the property was great and the management was very good and prompt to reply via text.

Quiet get away

This is a cozy little cottage tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. We were relocated to this property as the property we originally booked was temporarily unavailable. Vacasa did a great job getting us into Hillside Cottage and moving us back into the property we booked. We can’t say enough about their great customer service. The roads getting to Hillside are narrow with no sidewalks. Be careful as there are often walkers with pets on the roads. Also, we encountered a few golf cart drivers who didn’t stop at a stop sign (or even look right or left) The property is on a hill and you have to park at the bottom and walk up a couple flights. It’s a bit of a haul up to the house. It was only an issue for us when loading and unloading. The stairs aren’t lit so be careful if coming in after dark. The step into the house is a big one, so again be careful. The kitchen is really nice but there isn’t sufficient dining space if seating more than four people. There is a larger table on the patio that will seat six. The downstairs bedroom is big and the bed was comfortable. There isn’t a dresser so if staying for more than a couple days you either live out of your suitcase or use the dressers upstairs. There are two full bathrooms but neither of them have any shelving or ledge to place product or soap. The interior issues were really minor and overall our short stay was great.

Perfect stay

The home was exactly as advertised; instructions for access, parking, and the home were mailed the morning of check in and they were very simple and easy to follow. The home was very clean and stocked with all the necessary household items, as well as firewood for the firepit and fireplace. The hot tub was already already set up for use which was an added plus. The area was quiet and residential, and very close to Lake Michigan. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
