This updated cozy cottage is one block from Lake Michigan. Located only 5 minutes north of South Haven and 20 mins south of Saugatuck/Douglas.

At the Hygge Cottage you're a short walk from catching spectacular sunsets. Located on a quiet block the home offers a nice sized backyard for activities, grilling, and two patios for outdoor dining / morning coffee.

Located only a 2 minute drive from Cogdal Winery and Hawkshead Golf Course. When you are ready to visit the surrounding area, take Blue Star north and hit the farmers markets, galleries and downtown shops in Saugatuck/Douglas or head south to South Haven for amazing restaurants, boat rentals, and public parks and beaches.

Whether you are looking for lots of activities or a quiet peaceful getaway, The Hygge Lake Cottage offers the best of both worlds.

* One block away from Lake Michigan cliff. Due to erosion, there is no direct access ( stairs or tram) to the shoreline at the end of the block. We are short drive to lovely public beach access. The cliff provides great sunset / sunrise views.

Home is only 1 hour away from Notre Dame.

Second stay in 2 years

We love this property. The house is very clean, location is peaceful & it’s within few minutes drive time to the beaches and shops. We could not open the shower door over the pan but the owner addressed this issue immediately. We would stay again.

This property was very well maintained, clean, comfortable, and well stocked with conveniences. The cottage was just charming, with blooming bushes out front, that my wife just loved. The kids loved the firepit, the backyard, and the wide screen TV. At the end of the road, one block away, we could view the sunset over the lake, and there were stairs down to swim. It was very conveniently located to great beaches: just a 10 minute drive from North Beach South Haven (25 minute bike ride I took three times in 4 days !), 15 minute drive from Saugatuck, 30 minute drive from Silver Beach. Would definately consider going back next year !

Very clean, bright, with welcoming home! This was a much needed weekend away for us. We felt comfortable and at home in this exceptional place.We hope to visit again when the weather is warm. Suzy was responsive and helpful!

Great retreat location

This cottage was completely adorable and SO clean! The pictures on VRBO don't do it justice. The decor had a natural (loved the live plants!) and soothing feel. The area was very quiet and perfect for my solo retreat. It's also a very short drive to Kal-Haven trail, which was a delight. I plan to rent this again as this is one of the nicest VRBOs I've stayed in.

Lake Getaway

Fun at Hygge Cottage

Second stay here: love it.

This is my second time staying at this home and I love it just as much as the first. Great location to restaurants, marina, highway but super quiet and peaceful. Everything you need in the kitchen is provided, board games, tv with Roku as well. Beds were comfortable and the deck was perfect to relax. Definitely my go to spot when visiting South Haven. Highly recommend.

Cutest Cottage!

Pictures do not do this place justice. It was the most adorable cottage and perfect for all of our needs. The location was ideal for exploring SW Michigan towns and lakes.

Wonderful stay!

We were close enough to town but also far enough for some quiet. :). Communication was great, house was clean, wasn’t full of heavy smells from fake fragrances thankfully and we had everything we needed. Lovely little spot. We had a nice visit!

South Haven 2023

Our trip to South Haven was wonderful. The property was exactly as listed. Everything we could need was there. The house is in a great location, close to anything you'd want to do.

Great Secluded Stay

I love where this was located. It's off a dirt road and the house is surrounded by trees. You can see the neighboring house behind the property, but it's still very secluded. The house is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The flowers were beautiful and you could tell everything is very well taken care of. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to visit Michigan!

Very cute house. Very clean and has all the amenities. Beds were comfortable. My one complaint would be the shower. Not great water pressure. Could have been user error. But other than that we loved it. Nice area. Short drive to the beach.

so relaxing

Quiet neighborhood within walking distance to lake views. No access to the actual lake shore due to recent landslides, but you can walk there and watch the sunset. Super clean and comfortable home, with easy access to all of the regional attractions. Everything in the home was great; very comfortable beds and pillows, fully functioning kitchen with all the basic food prep stuff like pots and pans, utensils, etc. My kids enjoyed the trundle beds, and we had fun with some of the games and puzzles. The only thing is that the light switches are a bit quirky. Some of them don't seem to control anything, and I couldn't figure out how to turn on the fan and overhead lights in the bathroom. The shower door doesn't close all the way, but we just put an extra towel on the floor and it was fine.

Perfect weekend getaway for family of 4

The pictures don't do this property justice. It's a sweet little beach cottage that has been beautifully updated and is comfortable. Our family had the best weekend visit (3 nights in total) and didn't want to leave. We enjoyed a walk to the beach, a day in South Haven and a day in Saugatuck. We highly recommend both towns and this cottage is easily accessible to both. The beds and bedrooms were comfy, we had plenty of room to eat meals and enjoy the games and puzzles in the main living space. The home is well appointed and we didn't notice much that would need to be changed. All in all a great visit!

Perfect location!

This very nice beach house is located a block or so from Lake Michigan & although there is awful beach erosion, the sunset views were incredible! There are so many Lake Michigan beaches so close to the house - it literally took us less than 10 minutes to get to several! Also, proximity to Phoenix Street and historic downtown South Haven was wonderful! The house sits on a beautiful lot and you have no neighbors close by so it's very quiet! It is decorated really cute with tons of real plants & every comfort of home - soft throws, comfortable furniture and bed, coffee beans with a grinder for fresh coffee & various teas and a tea kettle. Only utensil we couldn't find was a pizza cutter, but a large knife worked great! It's bright and airy and we would definitely stay here again.

Hidden Gem

We have been using VRBO for years and have booked numerous accommodations through them. This little cottage house was 5 star all the way. The description of the listing is 100% accurate, which often isn't the case. In fact, the pictures don't really do it justice. Every room, every piece of furniture, and every blanket or bath towel was beyond comfortable. That can't be overstated. The bed was so wonderful (and we're picky) that we didn't want to get out of it! Suzy was an excellent host and immediately responsive to any questions. The house was IMMACULATE, so kudos to the cleaning company. Also, we like to cook on our weekends away and the kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could possibly need. Again, we often don't find that to be the case in our rental experience. The location is great, with the house being on a dead-end road and not close to any busy road. The trees offer tremendous privacy. We highly recommend this property---you won't be disappointed. Thank you Suzy!
