Place was beautiful and close to hiking trails. The house was super clean and the lavender field was gorgeous. Checking in and out was super easy as well. The house also offers fresh herbs for cooking in the greenhouse. The hot tub was also extremely nice. We will be coming back in the future and I highly recommend this place.

This is a beautiful and well-stocked property that definitely has the guest's needs, comfort, and relaxation in mind. Not far off highway 101, but far enough from downtown Sequim to not feel crowded, and close to most northern Olympic Peninsula locations, this is a perfect spot to relax whether exploring trails or the cities in the area.Great kitchen and grill, 3 comfy bedrooms, and overall, just a lovely place to relax for the weekend. Would have loved to have enjoyed this place for a longer amount of time. The host was very communicative and attentive, and prompt to respond to any questions (though everything was very well labeled and explained, so there was little need).I highly recommend this location if you're lookiblng foe a relaxing retreat in the Sequim area!

The hot tub was a fantastic bonus, and the garden was beautiful and peaceful. The location was great, just a short drive to the Olympic Game Farm, which was a highlight of our trip. Our host, Lisa, was wonderful—very friendly and responsive whenever we had a question. We truly felt at home and would absolutely stay here again!

Nice location, very clean, well stocked

We had a great stay at Lisa and Robert’s cottage. Very well stocked, clean and easy to communicate with them. I was very touched to receive flowers, balloons and wine as a birthday welcome! Daughter loved the upstairs hang out area, hot tub was wonderful after hikes. (The waiver that’s required to sign is 4 pages which threw us a bit.) We would stay again if in the area or recommend to others, for sure.

Nice place to stay

The property was very nice. Great views of the mountains, and we saw several bald eagles fly right over the property. Near everything, but far enough out side of town to feel remote. Hosts were very accommodating. We will be back next time we visit the area.

Great time catching up with friends

The house was very clean and stocked for myself and my friends. We really felt that the hosts cared about our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed the variety of things available to us in the house - movies, games, and overall had a great time with friends that haven't gotten together in a while. The location is really convenient to anything you'd want to do in the area.

The Hiking Five

We loved everything about this well appointed bungalow!! It was spotless, had every amenity you could think of, was decorated tastefully and contained quality furnishings! It was close to the lavender fields, the Dungeness Spit and most importantly to Hurricane Ridge! We took advantage of the hot tub and BBQ and then slept well in the comfy beds!!

Great Getaway in Sequim, WA

The unit was very large, immaculate and had everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. Great location close to downtown Sequim. We used it as a 'basecamp' for a series of day hikes in the area. Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park, Crescent Lake, and Dungeness Spit to name a few. We used the hot tub and gas grill in the evenings to relax after the day's hikes.

Great family getaway

Quiet and friendly location. The property had all kinds of things for use in order to entertain a family. Games, TV/movies, infant/small kids play area. What we really liked was not having to buy small items like cooking oil, salt/pepper, condiments... We really appreciated the eggs that came from the property owner upon checkin.

Great PNW Experience

The house was a great location, very close to the amazing sights of the Olympic Peninsula. The hosts were incredible communicators who helped us whenever we needed them to. Their instructions were clear and easy to understand and they had lots of brochures with information on how to spend time in the area. We had an incredible time — mainly sleeping — as we explored the Olympic Peninsula.

Cozy, Comfy, Clean, and Centrally Located!

Always clean, welcoming, and a delight to stay at, when visiting Sequim! The host is super accommodating and has intentionally thought through all the things one might need in a “home” away from home. Our grandkids love it, too! A kids room stocked with fun toys and books and there’s even a path that leads to chickens out in the garden. So fun!!!

Great Place

My friends and I were in town for a birthday shrimping weekend. The home is in a prime location - close to EVERYTHING, yet secluded from the outside noise when you get into the gates. The host was amazing with all communication!. The home was EXTREMELY WELL equipped with everything needed to cook. The host also had all the ingredients for root beer floats ready for us - even down to the mugs frozen in the freezer. Nothing to complain about here. Would definitely return.

2 nights is Sequim

My girlfriend and I were staying for a few days in the Olympic Peninsula making our way out to Forks. This property was one that matched our budget and had plenty of room even for just the two of us. Do yourselves a favor and spring a little extra for the enjoyment of the hot tub. It was perfect after a day of hiking. Also, it is to be said. I appreciate the butter already in the fridge. As someone that cooks more on long trips I enjoyed the variety of kitchen amenities. Great time staying here!

Family Beach Holiday

Our entire family (3 adults and 4 grandchildren, ages 4-12 years) had a wonderful and memorable experience staying at the Wise Old Owl bungalow during our stay in Sequim. Robert and Lisa are very caring, capable hosts who have the comfort and concerns of their guests always in the forefront of their minds. The house itself had the most well-appointed kitchen that we've ever had the pleasure of using, from great cookware and sharp knives to condiments and spices. We ate most of our breakfasts and dinners there, and it was a real pleasure to do so for someone who loves to cook! They even shared their farm-fresh eggs with us! The kids loved the toy room, the hot tub, and watching the chickens and ducks, and holding the very tame chicken with Robert. The home is in a great location for explorers of the area, with beaches or hikes readily available in every direction within 15-60 minutes. We had fabulous weather and spent every day outdoors in nature, and the kids never once asked for tablets or t.v., opting instead for the rocks, sand, waves, and beach creatures. The Texas grandkids are already asking when we may return! We would not hesitate to return to this sweet bungalow and these lovely hosts. Renee July/August, 2024

About the host

Hosted by Lisa Champion

Host profile image
Four years ago, our family resettled from Anchorage, Alaska and Renton, Washington to bring our beloved mother home from memory care. In searching for a place that mirrored Alaska’s quiet strength and natural beauty, we found ourselves drawn to this special pocket of Sequim.
Here, we have created a haven that nurtures peace, comfort, and connection—a space that supports our family and invites others to feel at home. Hosting guests from around the world has always been a dream of ours, and we are deeply grateful this property allows us to share our corner of the Pacific Northwest with travelers from all walks of life.
We come from a background rich in diversity and have a deep appreciation for every unique story and culture. That spirit shows up throughout the retreat—from the expanded gardens, and fruit trees to the lavender fields. Our pet chickens and ducks roam freely, offering a charming glimpse of life at the retreat, and our 43-year-old McCaw, Sebastian, may greet you with laughter or conversation—he’s especially fond of children and ladies!
This is more than a place to stay—it is a labor of love, created with intention and care. We feel blessed to welcome you to our peaceful sanctuary and honored to be part of your journey.

Why they chose this property

When we searched for a new home to bring our mother back from memory care, we wanted a place that offered the peaceful feeling of Alaska, yet was close to the conveniences and community activities that nurture family life. This little corner of Sequim instantly felt right—quiet, safe, and beautifully situated between majestic nature and the comforts of town.
Our property sits on a fully fenced one-acre lot, offering privacy and space while remaining just minutes from everything. Whether you are heading to Olympic National Park, exploring local shops, or strolling through Port Angeles, almost every attraction is within 5 to 20 minutes. The proximity gives us the best of both worlds: tranquility at home, adventure around the corner.
We also fell in love with the neighborhood’s welcoming spirit and natural beauty—it inspired us to expand the gardens, plant even more trees, and create pathways full of native plants and fruit trees. It is not just a place to stay—it is a place to breathe.

What makes this property unique

Wise Old Owl Retreat offers guests something rare: a peaceful haven nestled in nature with fast, easy access to every corner of the Olympic Peninsula. The one-acre property is fully fenced for privacy and security, yet centrally located—putting nearly every shop, service, trailhead, and coastal town within 5 to 20 minutes.
But what truly sets this retreat apart is the warm, welcoming energy poured into every detail:
• A garden sanctuary with native plants, fruit trees, and a lavender field.
• A children’s playroom thoughtfully stocked for safe, carefree play
• Fresh eggs, seasonal fruit, snacks, and touches like Philosophy Beauty products, extra toiletries, and even fixings for root beer floats
This home was lovingly created to care for family and guests alike—with heart, comfort, and connection at the core. It is not just a place to stay… it's a place to breathe.
