2Bed/1Bath Upstairs Home, 1mile to Beach, Next to State Forest, Custom Finishes
There is a black sand beach nearby to explore (Kehena), and a lava tube hidden in a kipuka surrounded by a lava field, and geothermally heated ponds, forest trails, farmers’ markets, yoga classes, chocolate and mushroom farms, dances, waterfalls, drum circles and maybe wild dolphins… we hope you thoroughly enjoy the nature of the big island!
Garden of the Phoenix is a 2 bed/1 bath, upstairs unit with a lanai facing State Land, 100s of acres of native Ohia Forest, the first tree to sprout and grow on fresh lava. It is about 1.5 miles distance to the clothing optional black sand beach known as Kehena where wild dolphins sometimes swim with beach goers and Sundays are drum circles. The neighborhood has a Dark Sky policy to promote star gazing. Uncle Robert’s offers a variety of Farmer’s Markets and evening music with a bar and smoothie shack.
Just built and completed in 2020, the upstairs is completely yours, 2 bedrooms and 1 beautiful bathroom, tastefully furnished, with a lanai facing the backyard gardens and forest. Insulated walls for sound and temperature control with large ceiling fans and vaulted ceilings in every room. Large windows catch the trade winds.
Shared laundry machines on the ground level lanai with the on-site property manager who lives in the ground floor unit, with a dog, Bubba. Super friendly born 12/2020. Pet friendly house. Respect your neighbors! Only do laundry between the hours of 8am and 8pm.

The property is full of lush landscaping, and the accommodations are beautiful and well appointed. Plenty of pantry items, which is a huge plus compared to most rentals. Jacob was always responsive and helpful with answering questions about the area. We'll be back!
The property is beautiful. It has a very Zen like quality and while close by and accommodating, the owners are not at all intrusive.
We had plenty of space the kitchen is set up well for cooking with pretty much everything you need.
The property is in an area that is very quiet while a tad remote it doesn’t take long to get to the closest town.
Thank you again for our wonderful stay!
As we were driving a series of long winding roads to this property we said to ourselves, “this place is going to have to be really nice to be worth the drive.” And it was. The nature sounds were amazing. Eating every meal on the lanai was lovely. The kids fought over who got to sleep on the lanai. It’s close to a beautiful black sands clothing-optional beach, and otherwise there’s not much to do out there. It’s not the best jumping off point for lots of island touring, but it’s the perfect spot to get away from it all and relax.
The space and the grounds exceeded our expectations. It is gorgeous and all put together with a lot of thought. Like it is noted in the description, the space is new and it feels that way. If our kids weren't in need of some adventures I would have been content just to lay on the lanai couch and read for days.
We have three kids and there is a small park a block away. Some evenings it seemed like the whole neighborhood was hanging out there so we got to meet some other kids.
I spent two nights in this beautiful home and I felt like I was in the middle of the jungle. My favorite part was the outdoor shower. Loved the decorations inside and the day bed on the balcony was so relaxing.
We loved our stay here. The house is beautiful and the garden is incredible. The area was just what we needed: peaceful, quiet, off the beaten path, but close enough to everything we needed. The geckos on the gorgeous patio in the morning, and the chorus of frogs at night, was such a delightful treat. We highly recommend this beautiful healing space.
Myself & my 3 best friends rented the place for my 50th birthday. It was even more beautiful than the photos showed. The decor was unique with a fully equipped kitchen & luxury bathroom. The sounds of the birds & frogs from the deck were unreal. It was like a jungle retreat. River was very helpful & friendly for whatever we needed. Bubba was great company as well. He helped us not miss our own dogs as much. I would recommend this place to anyone who values tranquility & relaxation. Thanks to Jacob & River. We all appreciate you having us as your guests & hope to visit again one day.
Wanting to explore Volcano/Pahoa area for a few days with our maltipoo, Jacob's place was perfect!
'Garden of the Phoenix' is a great name for Jacob's space: so lush, green, clean. We own a condo in Waikoloa Village where we escape Alaska winters. With friends from Alaska visiting us, we wanted to explore with them Volcano and Pahoa area (the Lava Tree State Monument and the monkey pod grove). It took us about twenty minutes to get to Pahoa (highly recommend Kaleo's for lunch or dinner there) and Volcano was about an hour's drive from Jacob's place. But we didn't mind the drive and really enjoyed the quaint community--great place for early morning walks. Enjoyed exploring a different part of the Big Island. Jacob's place is comfortable, clean, newly constructed with fun, unique decor. Our favorite spot was the beautiful deck/lanai space overlooking their backyard. Highly recommend!
