Coming through the front entry, you will be greeted by soaring ceilings in the living room. Our grand river-rock fireplace stands tall and proud, drawing the eye upwards to the skylights and tall windows that surround it. Opposite the fireplace is the state-of-the-art kitchen, and in the middle, our 10ft Restoration Hardware sofa entices you to kick your feet up and relax while watching the fireplace roar or catching glimpses of the forest views from every angle.

Into the kitchen, you'll find all the modern amenities. We have everything you need to cook a world-class meal: A commercial-size fridge and freezer, gas range and oven, Instant Pot Pressure Cooker, dishwasher, trash compacter, and ample countertop space. In addition, the kitchen is stocked with oils, an array of spices, and all sorts of cooking utensils that make for easy cooking and clean-up. The chef in the group can go to work while the others visit and watch on from the bartop that connects to the kitchen counter. Off the kitchen, is the formal dining room. A solid Oak, round dining table with service for six stands in the middle of the dining room that is framed by three walls of picture windows.

Down the hall from the kitchen is the laundry room with a washer and dryer, and a door to access the two-car covered carport. Past the laundry room lives a half-bath to the right and the master bedroom to the left.

The family room upstairs holds a large sectional and massive 75 inch flat-screen TV for movie night as well as board games and a shuffle-board table for game night. In the corner of the family room, there is a 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧 for those who need to "work from home" while staying at your new home away from home.

The backside of the property is where things get truly magical. Giant pine trees sprinkle the property, and the seasonal Strawberry Creek babbles below. The expansive back deck has a dining table, and a sitting area with a fire pit to cozy up in and listen to the wildlife chatter. The ultimate indulgence after a fun-filled day sits in the far corner of the deck: a Sundance Hot Tub. Off the deck, you can walk the grounds of the 1.5 acres that the Lodge sits on. A second outdoor dining table sits creekside for dining under the pines.

Getting Here: The Three Main Routes
Idyllwild is accessible via three scenic mountain highways:
* From the Desert (Highway 74): The "Pines to Palms" Highway from Palm Desert. Features dramatic switchbacks and expansive views of the Coachella Valley.
* From LA / Banning (Highway 243): From I-10 in Banning. This is the most direct path for those traveling from LA or Ontario, offering several beautiful forest overlooks.
* From San Diego / Hemet (Highway 74 West): A more gradual climb through high-desert ranch land via Anza and Mountain Center.
Nearest Airports:
Palm Springs (PSP): 1 hour drive. Closest and most scenic.
Ontario (ONT): 1.5 hours drive. Best for avoiding major LA traffic.
John Wayne (SNA): 2 hours drive. Great Orange County alternative.
Los Angeles (LAX): 2.5–3 hours drive. Primary international hub.
Local Transportation and Walkability:
Once you arrive, the village is wonderfully walkable. The heart of town is pedestrian-friendly, with shops, galleries, and restaurants in a central hub. All of our Experience Idyllwild cabins are located within one mile of the village center and within a mile of each other, making it easy to coordinate between properties.
Important: Note on Rideshares:
Please be aware that there is currently only one Uber driver in town. Local rideshare options are extremely limited and often unavailable. There are no traditional taxi services or Lyft drivers based on "The Hill." We strongly recommend renting a car at the airport to ensure you have reliable transportation for your stay and for accessing various trailheads.
Dates unavailable or need more space?
If your dates are not available, ask us about the other cabins in our collection. All of our Experience Idyllwild retreats are located within a mile of each other—including two that are right next door—making them perfect for group getaways.
Our Collection:
* Proximity: All cabins are within 1 mile of each other.
* Small Groups: Ask about booking neighboring properties together.
* Service: We offer personal concierge help to find your perfect fit.
Stairs & Accessibility
* Entrance: All access to the Lodge involves stairs. The front door is the most accessible entrance, featuring a short staircase with sturdy handrails.
* Layout: Once inside, 1 of the 3 Master Suites is located on the main floor. The remaining 2 Master Suites and the family game room are located upstairs.
Nightly Minimums:
Weekends typically require a 2-night minimum; holidays and events may require 3-4 nights. Every booking is reviewed before acceptance to ensure these requirements are met.
Woodpile Option
We provide on-site access to our seasoned firewood pile for a small additional fee. This covers the cost of sourcing and stacking local wood so you can enjoy the original wood-burning fireplace throughout your stay without having to run to the store.
Professional Cleaning:
Your comfort is our priority. All of our cabins are professionally cleaned by our longtime, trusted local cleaning company using high-grade disinfectants on all surfaces and linens.
