About this property

Alpine Lodge - Lake Placid, Mirror Lake

Summary:
Welcome to Alpine Lodge! Our home is located just below Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY and is the perfect getaway for friends and families to enjoy. The house itself was recently renovated to have all the modern amenities (including ones you might expect from a resort hotel), but also has the thoughtful charm of being your home away from home.

STR-300020

The Space:
Enjoy your morning coffee by the fireplace, gazing out the picture window into the lush foliage, or an afternoon cocktail al fresco on our patio overlooking the large yard surrounded by trees. We have everything you need for the perfect getaway, whether you love hiking, skiing, swimming, relaxing, cooking, adventuring or all of the above.

The Living Room is our favorite spot to enjoy in the house. Start up the electric fireplace and make the house feel super cozy. Lounge on the leather sofas and gaze out the picture windows to take in the view of lush foliage, switch on the Smart TV (where you can easily sign into your Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming account) for movie night or the big game, or enjoy one of our board games with your group. The living room is adjacent to the kitchen which has an expansive island and stools for gathering around and a dining room with enough seating for your group to dine together.

Sleeping Arrangements
Alpine Lodge has 6 traditional bedrooms and an additional bed in the upstairs loft area, which altogether can sleep up to 13 guests. With 3 King Size Bedrooms (two of which have a bathroom en suite), 2 Queen Size Bedrooms, 1 bedroom with a trundle bed and 1 twin bed in the upstairs loft, you will find room for your entire group to spread out. All bedrooms feature Casper Mattresses, quality linens and are thoughtfully decorated. Smart TVs are in five of the bedrooms as well where you can easily sign into your Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming account. Most bedrooms have spacious closets with shelving so you can comfortably unpack for your stay. In the lofted upstairs area, you will also find a nook with a small desk, perfect for working on a laptop. Each room has its own climate control so that guests can adjust to their individual preference.

The Kitchen
The Kitchen is equipped with all new appliances and finishes as well as cooking utensils, pots and pans, general spices, and basically all the tools you need to make morning pancakes, spaghetti Bolognese dinner, and everything in between. (Groceries not provided.) For morning coffee, there is a coffee machine, please feel free to bring along your favorite roast. You will find all the dish ware, serve ware, and drink ware you need for such a large group to dine, but don’t worry, we have you covered with a dishwasher too.

Bathrooms
There are 4 bathrooms at Alpine Lodge. On the first floor, you'll find two full bathrooms, with one being located off the main living area and the other one nested within a bedroom. On the second floor is another full bathroom, accessible from the corridor. Within the second floor bedroom, is an en suite bathroom, which has a spacious shower as well as a large soaking bathtub, perfect for filling with bubbles or salts to kick back and relax. All of our bathrooms are stocked with toiletries, a hair dryer in each, and super plush towels.

Outdoors
Step out back and you will find a wood deck with an outdoor seating to enjoy al fresco dining, surrounded by towering trees. If BBQ-ing is your thing, we have you covered with a propane grill. An extra tank is provided in case the one there runs low and needs to be swapped out. Further out in the back yard is a fire pit surrounded with Adirondack chairs for your entire group to gather around. We provide you with a fire starter kit and a good amount of wood for multiple nights of fires.

For the kiddos (and parents)
As parents ourselves, we understand the fun and challenges that come with traveling with kids. We’ve stocked our home with creature comforts to make your stay with smaller guests more enjoyable. For dining we have BPA free plastic dinnerware and cups for the kids as well as a high chair for our smallest of guests. Our home has a crib, which can be folded down and moved to your room of choice, and our shared bathroom that has a shower tub combo has a handheld shower head to make bath time a little easier for parents. Outside is a swingset playhouse on our grassy area, with line of sight for grownups from both the dining area and fire pit.

Guest Access:
Guests can enjoy the privacy of the entire house, private deck, fire pit and seating areas around the yard.

The Neighborhood:
Nestled on the South side of Whiteface Mountain, the house is a quick 15 min drive to the Whiteface Mountain ski slopes, 5 min drive to Mirror Lake, and 3 min drive to Lake Placid Village. The location is perfect for winter skiing, sledding, and snowboarding. In the fall, hike below the beautiful foliage, and in the spring/summer be sure to check out Mirror Lake, more hiking, antiquing, and local farms & vineyards.

There are a handful of markets nearby, including a supermarket as well as a couple of wine & liquor stores for your convenience. This house is so well located that you will find great Food & Drink options moments away, including Generations, ‘Dack Shack, Ere’s Pizza Ristorante, Redneck Bistro, Simply Gourmet Bakery, Kanu, Cocoa & Dough Co., Great Adirondack Brewing Company, and so much more.

If you are looking for the great outdoors, there’s something for everyone - year round. A quick 15 min drive gets you to the base of Whiteface Mountain, the fifth-highest mountain in the U.S. state of New York, and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Set apart from most of the other High Peaks, the summit offers a 360-degree view of the Adirondacks and clear-day glimpses of Vermont and even Canada. Whiteface's ski area boasts 90 trails stretching over 25 miles and encompassing three peaks. In the summer months, enjoy the Adirondack High Peaks from the comfort of an eight-passenger, high-speed gondola cabin, on the Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride. You can also hike a variety of trails for every level to explore the mountain, which is particularly amazing in the fall months as the leaves are turning colors.

During the warmer months, you can zip over to Mirror Lake, just 5 minutes away by car. Enjoy a 2.7 mile stroll (or run!) around Mirror Lake in the center of Lake Placid. This is a flat, scenic loop that's perfect for as many laps as you like. Or canoe, kayak, stand up paddleboard, or aqua bike across this gorgeous 128-acre, one-mile long lake. Lake Placid Public Beach a summer dream come true. Its sandy beach has a pier and a launch site for canoes or kayaks, there's a changing facility, tennis courts, and even a playground for the kiddos.

Great Family Stay!
Comfortable stay for adult couples and kids during our skiing trip. We loved that the kitchen was stocked with all necessary items to make and eat meals as a family. The house also had items for a baby - crib, bouncer, high chair - which was very convenient. There were plenty of bedrooms for our entire family and the beds were comfortable, along with enough bathrooms that sharing was minimal. Overall, great find in a central location with a 15 minute drive to Whiteface slopes.

Guys trip
We stayed with 10 guys and we had a blast. Property was clean, beds comfortable and well equipped. The owner ensured there was plenty of firewood, toilet paper, paper towels, pots/pans etc. Overall a wonderful experience I would definitely recommend.

Great Home...Super Gross Cleaning
So this home is really nice. It's well appointed, and the location is ok but they don't show that the driveway is small and is on the main road so be aware of that. The home is set up well for a group, there is AC in every room that works really well and big bathrooms. With that said, the cleaning of the unit was totally disgusting and almost made us want to leave on arrival. 1- None of the sheets were clean, there was hair, dirt, etc..in each bed. Totally gross. 2- There were standing pools of grease on the deck from the grill, and all the chairs with filthy and stained one of our friend's clothes when she sat down. 3- The kitchen sink totally leaked. To their credit, they had it fixed immediately, but the sink was completely broken, the water was running right through it onto the floor! 4- They have a dumpster on site that was just disgusting. It was full of maggots, smelled up the whole back yard, was not cleaned out the enite time we were there. Its a shame, the place is great, but whoever is managing it is doing a crap job at keeping it ready for renters. As we paid a cleaning fee, that is even more frustrating as what is that fee going towards as clearly it's not getting done between rentals. We would not stay with Lina again unless we had some assurances on hygiene, it was so gross. With everything going on, to have dirty sheets on beds is just unacceptable, much less a totally broken kitchen sink and weeks-old trash lying around. yuck.
