Birches Lodge is an Adirondack Style Lodge situated on beautiful Mirror Lake. A 5 minute walk has you enjoying Main Street in Lake Placid with shops, restaurants and beautiful scenery.

This is a wonderful house in a super spot. The view of mirror lake each morning and watching the fog roll off the lake is amazing. The hot tub, the dock, the location, all make this such a great vacation spot. We also appreciate how clean the house is. This was our 5th visit, and hoping to come back again next year

Wonderful property, plenty of space for our family. House was well stocked and had everything we needed. It was great to have access to the kayaks, pedal boat, and canoe. We will definitely return next year!

Perfect family place

Birches lodge was the perfect place to stay in Lake Placid. We loved being right on Mirror Lake in an amazing house with plenty of room for the 9 of us to relax. The kitchen was well stocked, the interior/exterior of the house was beautiful and clean, and there were plenty of things to keep us entertained, including kayaks, hot tub, outdoor fireplace, games, and common areas for the family to gather. Downtown was an enjoyable walking distance. Wonderful experience!

Amazing property and wonderful host!

The house was extremely clean, well decorated and was more than enough space for our family of seven. The yard was very well kept and we enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor fireplace. We will definitely be back. Barbara is a wonderful host.

You should stay here!

This is an excellent rental property. The pictures make it look dark and drab inside, but it is actually beautiful inside. We were 3 families, totaling 6 adults and 5 kids, and there was plenty of space for everyone. Loved having 5 full bathrooms. The house is directly on Mirror Lake which is so beautiful and peaceful, as no motor boats are allowed. The house has more boats than listed- 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, 1 paddle board, and 1 paddle boat- plus plenty of life vests in various sizes. That was a pleasant surprise. The map in the listing shows the house on the south side of Mirror Lake, which is where the town of Lake Placid is. But it is actually on the northern tip, about a mile from town- but still walkable, we did it every day. The kitchen was fully stocked, there were plenty of towels, etc., and the beds were comfortable. I would 100% stay here again if I ever make it back to lake Placid. You can’t beat it!!

Just Awesome!

We absolutely loved our stay at the house. Such a beautiful home and the best location. The storage room was great for storing all our extra stuff. We cooked each night in the kitchen which was well equipped. We loved the hot tub with the fabulous view of the lake.

Ideal location

Barb and Rodney’s lakefront property was absolutely perfect for our stay. The house was ideally set up for families with spacious rooms and lots of common space. The outdoor hot tub was very clean and a great after a day of skiing or walking downtown. We came for a large scale international skating event and this house was ideally located so that we could walk to town if needed all while being out of the busy downtown area. We look forward to our next stay!

Perfect stay!

The pictures do not do this beautiful house justice! It is absolutely gorgeous and in a perfect location. It is about a 15 minute walk into town to the shops and restaurants. Check in process was easy and Barb was an amazing host. She provided quick responses to all of my questions, which I really appreciated. The house was spotless upon arrival and everything was in working order. Being on the lake was priceless. The kids loved being able to take out the paddle board and kayaks every day and it was especially helpful that life jackets were provided, one even small enough for my 5 year old. I would highly recommend this house and am hoping to return soon. Thanks Barb for a great vacation!

Beautiful but HOT, HOT, HOT

The home is beautiful and the location is amazing. The problem was that there is no air-conditioning. It was in the mid 80's and the upstairs bedrooms were like ovens and made sleep impossible. The house was just stifling hot - we ate out all the time just to get in some air-conditioning.

Excellent stay!

The property itself is amazing- very close to town and as close to Mirror Lake as you can get. The house featured an all out Adirondack/rustic theme and fantastic decor and pictures throughout which we loved. We enjoyed using the canoe, fishing, swimming, the hot tub and the outdoor fireplace during our stay. We prepared some of our meals at the house and found the kitchen to be more than adequate. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable and it was a definite plus to have so many bathrooms available. A minor smoke detector battery issue came up and the owners were available right away to help us troubleshoot which was appreciated. Ahead of time- they were very prompt in replying to any questions. We would love to return, and would definitely recommend this property. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Ski Week

Fabulous location and great property, just needs a little tweaking in the kitchen, but that’s easy once reviewed (better coffee maker, water filter changed in refrigerator, check the DW and add a few more pans… needs larger fry pan and non scratched pans). Clean out duplicate items and replace with better quality in utensil department. Stove top might not heat properly., and hot water to master bath upstairs not abundant… These are just suggestions that some visitors might not notice, but with five kids along and exhausted after day skiing, we enjoy preparing meals in a minimally but well appointed kitchen. Easy to correct! And all in all, the house is lovely and we would certainly look forward to another visit. Thanks so much, happy holidays!

Great location but problem checking in

It’s a beautiful lakefront property. Lots of space inside, quiet, close to restaurants, shops. Upon check-in, which was listed at 4 o’clock, we realized that the property including sheets, towels, refrigerator floors, bathrooms had not been cleaned at all. I contacted the property manager who told me that I should leave for a few hours win a cleaning person would come and not to come back until then and to go to a restaurant or shop. This was unhelpful as I had already done that during the day when you arrive at a property you want to unpack and situate yourself and maybe spend time there! The cleaning person arrived at 4:30, there had been a misunderstanding about the day, which is forgivable, however, we were confined to a living room space until 7:30 PM when she left so we could not eat, or cook, unpack, or use the facilities. After contacting VRBO, they said they would contact the host. However, we were unable to use the property until the evening, but we’re paying 500 a night for that. That is not acceptable at all, and no offer of compensation was provided to me the rest of the time in the property was very nice and it was a great house otherwise once we got clean bathrooms and sheets on our bed etc. and could use the refrigerator, kitchen etc.

Tremendous Home in a Terrific Location

Great property. We visited in the summer (July) for Ironman weekend and the week after. Overall, the property is even better than is shown in the pictures. I didn't really know much about Lake Placid or Mirror Lake before booking....so here goes for those who don't either... Home - Incredibly spacious...bedrooms as described and all in great condition. Kitchen updated / great for cooking & gathering. Large family room on main level and nice upstairs room with Curling table as well. Deck in back is a beautiful location to enjoy the lake...grill situated so that you can stand and look over the lake while being just outside the door. Outdoor fire place sheltered from rain/wind so easy to get a fire started. Dock / Mirror Lake - House is situated on Mirror Lake looking directly down the lake into downtown Lake Placid. You can get into the lake and swim directly from the dock at the house...only about 2-4 feet deep for the first 40 feet from shore, then starts to get deeper. Very nice lake for swimming (no motor boats), canoeing (they have a canoe at the house), and stand-up paddleboarding/kayaking (they do NOT have these at the house). Town - Walkable to town on Mirror Lake Drive (very popular with runners, bikers, walkers), probably about a 10 minute walk either way (will put you on opposite sides of the town depending which way you head). Loved Lake Placid, this house, and the entire Ironman weekend experience. Summer lake living in the Adirondacks is definitely a vacation!

This house is absolutely gorgeous. It sits on the north end of the lake where it seemed like every day a breeze softly blew in from the water. It has large windows that let in so much beautiful sunlight. It was wonderful to just sit in the chair and read a book with the windows open enjoying that lake breeze.There's so much room here for your family to just spread out. Everyone has their own space. The fishing was great off the dock as we caught several smallmouth bass. The paddle boards, kayak and canoe were also used during the week. The lake is a non-motorized lake, and that makes it a safer, quieter, and even better stay.The Olympic theme through out the house was also very cool! If you are a lacrosse family and you have tournaments in Placid this is most definitely the place to stay. You were just two minutes to the Northwood school and 10 minutes or less to the North Elba athletic fields. There are multiple restaurants for every taste within walking distance in Downtown Placid .Hannaford grocery is less than five minutes away. Lake Placid Marina is less than a quarter of a mile away for all your charter needs. I recommend Cpt. Zack Horrock!We are already making plans to return early next summer. if this property is available for your dates, you need to book it. It truly is a special place that will create memories ! Communication with Barb was simple and easy. She always gave quick responses and answered all of my questions. She is good people.

Thanksgiving

Home was perfect! Beautifully decorated, inviting and relaxing. Location is great, easy walk to restaurants and shopping. There were 11 of us and the home never felt crowded. The lake view is spectacular. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Another great year!

This is our 2nd year in a row staying at Barb’s place and it was just as great of a stay as last year. The access to the lake and proximity to town and attractions can’t be beat. We’ve already booked the trip again for next year.

A dream vacation for us

Location is outstanding!! Comfortable place to stay!! Loved having kayak, paddleboat and canoe. Plenty of space for everyone!! Minor issue with grill. This place helped make our first family vacation with our adult children and grandchildren all together very special! We hope to return here !!!
