Private Home & Yard ~ Hiking, Creek & River Nearby!
Enjoy a peaceful retreat at this private residence tucked into Suck Creek Canyon where swimming holes, hiking, biking, paddling, fishing, and climbing abound. This updated home is both a place of respite for those seeking time in nature and conveniently located to downtown Chattanooga. Within close walking distance are seasonal (rainfall dependent) blue holes to take a dip in Suck Creek. The Cumberland Trail wanders close by and the Tennessee River is just a mile away!
Nestled into the mountainside of Prentice Cooper State Forest, this recently updated home offers everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well appointed for all your culinary needs. There are three bedrooms with two queen beds and a double, as well as a fold away single. There is plenty of room to roam with a sprawling yard, large deck, fire pit, and a gas grill. Additionally, we have lightning fast Wifi and large TV with a Fire Stick.
Just across the street is Suck Creek with seasonal (rainfall dependent) blue holes and breathtaking boulder gardens. The house backs up to Prentice Cooper State Forest and its 26,000 acres of semi-protected land. The Cumberland Trail and the Tennessee River are just one mile away. And the climbing mecca, Tennessee Wall, is just down the road. So, there are plenty of outdoor attractions for everyone.
Despite the feel of being far from the hustle and bustle, we are located just 15 minutes from Downtown Chattanooga.
In addition to the carport, there are spaces for two additional vehicles. We share a driveway with our one and only neighbor, so cars must not block access to their property.
The house straddles the Eastern and Central time zones. Be aware that cell phones may alternate between the two when in this area. Again, please note that the water levels for all our local creeks are dependent on the amount of recent rainfall.

Home was clean and well supplied, only hiccup we experienced was a bit of a strange texture with the water. Host was very friendly and had great communication.
We had such a lovely stay here and really enjoyed our time! The home was well stocked with thoughtful touches—there were so many board games, kids books, and toys, which made a huge difference for our two little ones. They had an absolute blast and stayed entertained the whole trip. The location is beautiful, with water right across the street and so much nature to explore nearby. It really gave us that peaceful Tennessee feel we were hoping for. We also really enjoyed spending time around the fire pit in the evenings—it was such a nice way to unwind.A couple of things to note for future guests: the home is older, but it is well maintained and everything felt clean and functional. We did notice a wasp nest outside, so there were some wasps flying around during our stay. It wasn’t a major issue, just something to be aware of if you’re spending a lot of time outdoors.Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this home to others looking for a relaxing, nature-filled stay!
We stayed in Chat while on collegiate tours for our son. Great nature surroundings and fun ti explore in our extra time. Love the sound of the creek at all times. Perfect getaway.
Beautiful property located in an ideal location for all the fun things to do in and around Chattanooga. Wonderful communication with the owners. Would book again.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
House was nice with all the basic daily necessities. Driveway to enter property was narrow and dangerous to enter and exit the road. The water hole that is advertised was across the street and dry, No water at all to swim or get wet in.

Thanks for your comments, Beth. We're in the process of making changes to the driveway. Some drivers on Suck Creek Road can be a challenge. Unfortunately, we have zero control over how others drive. And just to be clear, I note in the listing several times that creek levels are dependent upon the amount of rain we've recently received. I'm sorry if you missed that, but even when dry, Suck Creek is beautiful to explore.
Our stay in Chattanooga was memorable and comfortable. This small house is well-equipped and perfect for our needs. Very clean throughout with comfortable beds. While visiting the area we went to Rock City/lookout mountain, Chickamauga National Battlefield, downtown Chattanooga, and evening kayaking for the endangered grey bat emergence at Nickajack refuge area lake.
We stayed here for thanksgiving 2022. The house was lovely, cozy, and spotless. A great kitchen for food prep and cooking (although the coiltop range is maybe not my fave—overall it seems like natural gas is not common in this area). Beds were comfy and plenty of room for our family of four. We could’ve easily had an additional family stay with us! I must also mention the couch, which was velvet and sooo comfy. I want one just like it! One thing to mention—not a flaw or a fault—but the well water is quite well-y as well water tends to be in the south. It didn’t bother me but leave extra time to rinse conditioner out of your hair! There was an awesome water filter in the fridge for drinking water.
I’m sure the surrounding natural areas are wonderful to explore but we didn’t get to do that given all the thanksgiving festivities. However, the views were sublime and the yard was great for the kids to run around. It was a quick ride into town as well, with easy access to all kinds of shopping and activities.
The owner Susanna was lovely to communicate with. We didn’t have any issues but I did ask her where the heck she got that couch! And she also had to get in touch with us after we checked out bc we hid the tv remotes from our kids a little TOO well. Whoops.
I’d absolutely stay here again!
The house was clean and very cute. Very well appointed. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Susanna was a dream to work with. Communication was awesome!
