Joe lives on a beautiful plot of land in the Texas Hill Country. My favorite part of the stay was the wildlife - I saw deer, birds, possums, and feral goats. Joe even put out deer pellets one time so I could see deer while I ate my dinner on the cabin patio.Communication was great, and Joe was accommodating even as my ETA kept getting pushed back amongst work obligations and traffic (he was kind enough to loan me a flashlight when I arrived at 9:30pm so I could easily make it to the barn restroom). This is a great, secluded getaway spot with a friendly host.

Stayed here during the Bandera trail race, loved how quiet it was and getting to see all the wildlife around. Cabin has comfy beds and everything we needed.

JAMES--- THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW. HOPE THAT YOU WILL STAY WITH US AGAIN. IF THERE IS ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO MAKE YOUR STAY MORE ENJOYABLE PLEASE LET US KNOW. JOE
I came to this neighborhood looking for stay during eclipse. While weather did not cooperate this time around, on the other hand I enjoyed my stay in vicinity of San Antonio, where I was able to visit not only historic Alamo site, but thanks to my amazing host, also many other hidden historic gems in the area. Joe is amazing host and his cabin is great place to stay. I can’t recommend any other place to stay than this one!!!

I had a great time hanging out with Darko and visiting many historic sites in the area. I sincerely look forward to having Darko as my guest to next time he visits
the beautiful San Antonio area with it's rich historical sites and fanciful cuisines.
Some friends and I stayed here during a recent motorcycle trip. Location was very quiet and the owner of the property allowed us to park the Harleys in his large garage.

Jeff-- We are so happy that you stayed with us again. Looking forward to your next visit. Joe
Off the beaten path and that was what I was looking for on the trip. Joe is an awesome host and more so a quality person. Very interesting conversation and generous as well. Both of us wanted to sit and talk with him to share stories, but we were limited on time...guess we'll just have to go back for a longer visit!!! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and accommodated our needs. We were greeted with fresh tomatoes, and some fresh meat to grill compliments of Joe (unexpected). The grilling area was great and the area was full of wildlife, Joe's dog Angel (great dog), chickens and roosters (couldn't even hear them while inside cabin), rabbits, and other "critters" that call the area home. Didn't want to leave actually but had a long drive ahead and had to get on the road. Will be back for hunting or relaxation without a doubt.

Wonderful guests and awesome people. Can't wait till they visit again !!!
I can't say enough amazing things about this property. Joe is an incredible host & is so welcoming. My husband and I have stayed here before and are planning to make it a regular vacation spot!
One of my favorite moments from our stay is witnessing the wildlife roaming the grounds while we enjoy our morning coffee, it is so beautiful & peaceful...such a breath of fresh air from the city. My husbands favorite feature is cooking ALL of our meals on Joe's massively impressive BBQ pit only a few feet from the cabin. Joe does offer small cookware items such as a crock pot & hot plate available upon request...but we never needed to use them because we loved cooking outdoors for our meals. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that Joe had a selection of wine available in the cabin for us to enjoy for a very affordable price...I thought that was a very nice unique touch.
Overall, I give this location a 10/10...it has quickly become one of our favorite relaxation retreats & we are always so sad to leave. Thank you so much Joe for all you do, we will be booking our next stay with you again very soon!

Gena---So glad that you loved your stay again. Looking forward to seeing y'all again real soon. Joe
A friend and I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We decided to explore new places and came across this gem. We met up with Joe, the owner upon arrival. He approached us with a warm greeting, gave us information about the property, and offered assistance if we needed it. I was naive to think that there was a kitchen to cook our meals in, however, found there was none. Joe allowed us to use his grill outside, we were very thankful! We learned a new skill and cooked some amazing dishes on it. Joe stopped by to check in on us from time to time. What a beautiful soul he is. We enjoyed his company so much we offered for him to visit us more often. This was our decision. He is very respectful of our privacy. We most definitely would encourage anyone to rent this nice little quaint place should you need to escape for a bit, enjoy nature, and rejuvenate your soul. We did and met a new friend! Joe messaged me the day after we left to inform me that he added a few new cooking options for the inside. He does take great care of his guest and will go out of his way to make you feel welcomed.
I met up with family and friends here over spring break. Beautiful setting in the hill country. Cabin was very clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit and seeing all the wildlife. Lots of birds, deer, and hogs. Joe is a great host.
Quaint & Charming Cabin in the Texas Hill Country!
I would love to start this review by saying what an amazing host Joe was...he is a local historian and was so knowledgeable about the whole area & was inspiring to talk to. My husband and I had a wonderful time on our vacation and are both so happy with our stay at the cabin.
The cabin was extremely comfortable and cozy during the freezing weather at night. I loved the log furniture decor and the unique tin ceiling. Although the private shower & bathroom is separated from the cabin by a few yards, we found it completely satisfactory and I personally loved that nice towels, rugs & bamboo mats were provided to ensure extra comfort & accommodation. Everything was very clean, tidy and more than adequate.
Waking up in the morning enjoying a cup of coffee in the gazebo, we were able to view a variety of wildlife roaming the grounds such as deer, turkey & quail...it was blissful. We spent hours exploring the beautiful grounds & enjoyed the gazebo for lunches and sitting by the fire in the evenings...I can't wait to come back during the summer months so we can take advantage of the cement pond & spring for the bluebonnets & wildflowers. I was mesmerized by the wide variety of plant life like the blue agave, pitas & bougainvilleas ...i'm a professional photographer so I am already planning on booking again to utilize the unique location for a client photoshoot.
My husbands favorite features were the giant impressive BAR-B-Q pit & the stainless steel game cleaning station...he harvested a hog during our stay and we grilled medallions the following evening. It certainly is an outdoorsman's dream location.

What a kind and very thoughtful review. It is always a pleasure to meet guests like Gena.
I can't wait to see some of the up-close wildlife photos that she took. The ones of the 12 point buck ought to be classics.
My husband and I were so delighted in our stay here. The cabin is very spacious and could accommodate 5 guests with 3 to a bed and 2 couches. It is expensively furnished with log beds, leather couches, full size refrigerator, large coffee bar and has a cleverly designed tin ceiling. It is very well insulated and has a large A/C and a space heater. The cabin holds its temperature very well too, which was such a plus considering it was quite chilly during our stay. The grounds accommodate the biggest BBQ pit we’ve ever seen and they have a beautiful cold tub and huge fire pit. There is even a stainless steel game cleaning station that my husband was quite impressed with after shooting a hog the previous night! The Bath/Shower area is detached but is only a few steps away with hot water, a shower, sink, and toilet. In addition the bathing area has such nice soft towels and the floors even have bamboo mats. Would 100% recommend! We can’t wait to come back.

Thank you for those kind words. Frankly, we have never had anyone complain about walking a few steps to an enclosed bathroom, shower & sink.
