About this property
Charming Waterfront Home with Gorgeous View
You will think you’re in Italy! This beautiful Mediterranean-style waterfront home and guesthouse with gorgeous 180-degree water views offer you a tranquil retreat on the Kitsap Peninsula -- only one hour from Seattle but a world away from noise and stress. We are located ten minutes from the Kingston-Edmonds ferry on Gamble Bay, near Hood Canal and Port Gamble, just 20 minutes from Poulsbo.
Relax on the large front lawn and watch the eagles and osprey soaring overhead. Listen for the cry of the blue heron, admire the deer that wander through the yard, watch the fish leaping in the bay. The house sits on 1 3/4 acres and is very private and quiet - the houses on either side can't be seen. It overlooks a sheltered inlet on Puget Sound that is great for beach-combing and kayaking. A gas grill and a picnic table make outdoor dining easy. Later you can watch the sun set on the bay and use the firepit to make s’mores. At night, go outside and wonder at the stars – far more than you’ll ever see in the city. Watch a DVD on our 32' flatscreen, read a book by the fire, or listen to music from our CD collection.
Built in 1949 by a master craftsman, the house is completely modernized but retains its original charm with lovely hardwood floors, beautiful architectural lines and exquisite stone masonry. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, two waffle irons and fine culinary tools (I love to cook!) The master bedroom has a king bed, a private bath with walk-in shower, and French doors that open onto a sunny terazzo terrace. Carpeted stairs lead to a mezzanine above the living room which has a king bed and double bed with a shared closet between. This is a loft which overlooks the living room, so it’s not completely private, but there are floor-length blinds that can be pulled down for privacy. A full bath with bathtub is at the foot of the stairs. The living room features a vaulted ceiling which gives an open feeling, and has a sofa that makes into a queen bed. Two dining room tables easily seat 12. A guesthouse is across the driveway from the main house and is included in the rental. It has a queen bed and a queen sofa bed, and 1 bathroom.
Curl up with a good book in the sunny corner window. Play one of our many board games. Or just be still and appreciate the amazing silence. The charming guesthouse has a queen bed, a sofa that makes into a queen bed, and a private bath with shower, making it a perfect separate space for members of your group.
There are lovely walks and hikes right from our front door. A large grocery store is six minutes away. Twenty minutes brings you to the charming Scandinavian town of Poulsbo, forty minutes to historic Port Townsend with its antique galleries and fabulous restaurants, and seventy minutes to Port Angeles where you will find quick ferry access to Victoria, Canada, plus incredible mountain scenery at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Forest. Nearby Bainbridge Island offers excellent golf, restaurants, galleries, and cultural events year-round. A notebook with extensive recommendations for day trips, events, local restaurants and fun excursions is on the table when you arrive.
This is a perfect place for a quiet retreat, a family gathering, or a romantic second honeymoon. Our level entry and master bedroom/bath with walk in shower on the ground floor make it very accessible. Summers are truly beautiful here and last well into October. Puget Sound winters are generally mild (although somewhat damp) but the misty days are perfect for catching up on your reading or finally writing that novel.
Come experience the most relaxing getaway you have ever had. You will feel the calm energy as soon as you arrive.

About the host
Hosted by Cathy Ross
I'm a northwest native, a retired school administrator, and now an educational consultant. My husband and I live mainly in Seattle, but escape to our Kingston waterfront home whenever we can. We hope you love it as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
It is peaceful and beautiful, yet it's only an hour away from Seattle - one ferry ride puts you in another world.
What makes this property unique
We love just sitting and looking at the view, watching the eagles fly overhead, and toasting marshmallows by the outdoor fire pit.
Plus, it's a perfect base for visiting other fun places in the area, such as Poulsbo, Port Townsend, and Sequim - even Victoria, Canada is easy to get to by way of Port Angeles.
