We, (myself, husband and two teenage sons) came to be close to my 88 year old mother in Bothell for Thanksgiving as well as to have access to the Puget Sound for kayaking. The location was perfect and we really enjoyed the access to the sound and place to store our kayaks while here. Also loved the ferry ride and ability to walk to the most excellent restaurants and shops. We will be back.
We really enjoyed using the Kayaks that were provided. Outdoor foot hose to rinse off. Cute sea lions and birds. The bedding was super comfortable. Very nice washer and dryer with soap provided! The walk to town is like two blocks! Super convenient. We drove to Bainbridge Island and took the ferry to Seattle. You can also take one from Kingston. Host is very nice and is there for all your needs! Coffee, wine and music in Kingston. Looking forward to staying here again.

Very clean.. and a well equiped kitchen
We were impressed with how clean the entire hose was. In many rentals you have to make do with a slim assortment of pots, utensils, etc. Not here... the kitchen was very well equipped. The location gives you privacy, but convenient access to stores, restaurants and activities in Kingston. The TV is huge. The view from the deck was great. A bird watchers paradise... Blue Herons, Hawks, Kingfishers, Geese, Gulls, etc.

Highly Recommend! Fabulous house and location!
We couldn't have found a better location for our recent WA vacation. This super cute beach house is walking distance from the ferry and many restaurants and shops. The private beach and deck are a great place to get away from city life without sacrificing comfort and convenience. The views from the deck were amazing! We had coffee on the deck every morning and watched the sunrise with Mt. Rainer in the background. There was a pair of Kingfishers who were also there every morning and so fun to watch! We stayed a full week and it was not near enough time. We will most definitely be back as the owners were wonderful to work with!

Perfect spot with amazing view
There is nothing like the view from this home. The house was clean, close to nearby shops and the ferry, very comfortable beds. Our children loved building sand castles on the little strip of beach out back. Quick drive to Poulsbo, one of the most beautiful towns I have ever seen, and Central Market (an amazing grocery store). Really nice large screen TV in the living room we could access our netflix account from.
One more important point to mention is how nice the owners were to work with. There was an issue with our reservation (Homeaway, not the owners) and they resolved the issue quickly and were very responsive and easy to work with throughout the process. Our family had a very nice time and we highly recommend this home!

Great time with our family
This house was very comfortable for our family of 5 for Thanksgiving. We loved being right on the water. The view of the boats and activity on the cove is amazing. We even saw a bald eagle overhead. And the location was perfect for walks around Kingston.
The owner made things very easy. Very simple check in and check out and quick to communicate. The house is clean, well-equipped and maintained. We have never had a better TV and cable service in a rental. It is important item for sports fans over Thanksgiving holidays.
We would like to come back in the summer and explore this wonderful area and would not hesitate to rent this house again.

Not as pictured - disappointed with the rental
Don't be mislead by the photos on the site. Kayaks pictured are the neighbors, although they are listed as part of amentites. Pictures of views of the city and Mt Rainer were not taken from property. Apartment not equipped with any amenities, not even the basket of toiletries that are pictured. Pier virtually unusable over half the time. The television was nice and the beds were comfortable. Rental overpriced.

Response from VrboOwner on 1 Aug 2021
I am truly saddened for your disappointment in renting our Kingston Beach House. As you can see our steps lead to our dock not our neighbors dock. Since they had a small kayak on their dock I am sorry you assumed it was our kayak. Under the listing of amenities for Kayaks/Canoe....if you would have highlighted over it, as I tried to explain with my correspondence, you would have seen all the details in regard to renting a kayak nearby. I must admit that I think VRBO could have done a better job in their format regarding amenities. I did try to contact you to explain this with no response. Also, I can not predict the weather to be clear so you can see Mt. Rainier from our deck nor tide changes and the positioning of our dock. Don't quite what amenities were missing; except for the wicker basket that was on the bathroom counter. We are located in Kingston and the Space Needle is your view coming into Seattle from the Bainbridge Ferry..... which I did mention for those wishing to visit Seattle.

Everything it promised and more
This beautiful place offered a stunning view of the bay with Rainer in the background. It was quiet, comfortable and clean. Absolutely within walking distance of several nice restaurants and the ferry. We can't wait to return.

We wanted to Stay Longer
We loved everything about this place. The ' Kottage" was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were extremely comfortable. The view from the patio and the living area was beautiful and peaceful. The location could not have been better. We were a short walk away from the 'downtown' area, with many restaurants and some shops. The ferry to Edmonds was about a 3 block walk. We took the Bainbridge Island Ferry to the waterfront in Seattle and the Edmond ferry to just about everywhere else. It was the first best leg of our trip to the San Juan Islands. We had a few questions upon arriving and Linda was very quick to respond. We really wish we had reserved for a longer visit. For those who might be interested, there were Pickleball courts just a block away.

What a peaceful waterfront cottage!
I had the chance to vacation in the Pacific Northwest and decided to spend some of my time in Kingston given it's proximity to Seattle and activities on the Olympic Peninsula. This home is lovely! Upon arriving we realized how secluded it feels though it's located within walking distance to the ferry and downtown. The house is clean, bright and clearly well cared for by the owner.
The highlight of my trip was watching my daughter play on the beach and search for sea shells. Second to that would be enjoying the stunning, unobstructed view of the water both from within the house and on the deck. We found it fascinating to watch the tide change throughout the day and evening and see all the activity on the water (paddle boards, sailboats, wildlife, etc.). What's more, this unobstructed view didn't seem to give up any privacy.
The amenities are wonderful in this home. I found the beds/bedding to be very nice and everything I needed to make myself comfortable was provided to me. There's a huge TV in the main living area with all the VOD and cable channels we are accustomed to having and we didn't find ourselves wishing for anything that wasn't already there.
I can't wait to find myself in Kingston once again so I can stay here longer. A big thank you to the owner for providing a quality VRBO listing that is true to it's description!

About the host
Hosted by Linda Bortels
I moved from Michigan to Cody, Wyoming in 1983. I have been a Host with VRBO for many years. I had two vacation rentals from 2011 until 2020 in Wyoming. During that time I also had a VRBO for a couple of years here in Kingston. While in Cody I owned and operated an Overnight Horse Boarding Facility, among other interesting business ventures. In Wyoming my guests would bring their horses and rigs from all over the United States just to ride in and around Yellowstone and the spectacular Wapiti Valley! I truly loved riding in the mountains with my guests with horses being my true passion. I moved to Kingston in 2021 to be near my family and again started another short term rental here in Kingston with VRBO in 2025. Now I not only have my family and the mountains; but also the Puget Sound in my backyard. I have truly grown to love the Pacific Northwest too!
Why they chose this property
The property is in walking distance to downtown Kingston with restaurants, a farmers market and concerts in the park. There are also tennis and pickleball courts and a playground almost across the street. So much to do in such a little town not to mention two ferries with one taking you right into downtown Seattle without having to drive!
What makes this property unique
The property is most antique in that it is situated on Kingston Cove where my guests can Kayak right from my dock. They can also enjoy sitting by the water overlooking Mount Rainier and the Kingston Cove Marina.
