Frank was a friendly and responsive host. The property was spacious and clean, and we really enjoyed the secluded feeling of the cabin, especially while enjoying the decks and hot tub. Thank you!
Peaceful and secluded without being completely on your own if something goes wrong. Plenty of room inside and out. The photos of property did not include bathrooms so I was anxious. However they were clean, modern and good water pressure. We did not use the hot tub due to the warm weather but I peaked and it is new and in very good condition. Beware there is a landline telephone behind the living room television that rings sometimes but I’d advise against answering All in all we really liked the cabin and would recommend.
Lovely and tucked away property. Very peaceful and quiet, surrounded by woods. We enjoyed the hot tub, star gazing, marshmallows on the fire and swinging on the porch. Our son really loved the disc golf course on the property. Mammoth Cave was great and we also adventured to Bowling Green for the Lost River boat tour. Relaxing mini vacation for our family. Thanks for everything, Frank!
The cabin is perfect for families! There were board games in the basement, and a cute setup for the kids to play video games or watch movies together, I also loved the murphy bed. The hot tub was wonderful too, the property was spacious and absolutely beautiful!
Clean, well-kept, comfortable, and well-managed hideaway. Beautiful surroundings. The guidelines for check in and check out were easy to follow. Great escape for a home away from home while investigating Mammoth Cave.
The cabin is so cozy and tucked away so nicely in a wooded area. The owner is so nice and helpful with great knowledge of the area. Highly recommend staying here. 10 out of 10
I’m a little late here leaving a review but had a wonderful stay here. We had our grandkids with us and couldn’t have asked for a better place. The property owner was so accommodating and even gave a lesson on disc golf. The kids loved staying downstairs and played games in the evening and like the bunk bed and pullout couch plenty of room for their own space. We had a great stay.
We had a good experience staying at the cabin. The disc golf course on property was a highlight for us and our kids. Host was available and responsive.
We had a lovely time at the cabin! The kids loved the hot tub. The beds were very comfortable and everyone slept well. Thank you for this wonderful place.
Spacious, clean, and close to everything we wanted to see. Frank knows the area well and helped us get to everything we wanted to see and do. We enjoyed the hot tub, disc golf (even as beginners), and s'mores over the fire. Thanks for a great stay.
My family of 4 stayed here for spring break and really enjoyed the cabin & hot tub! It's nice, clean and spacious. The frisbee golf course on the property was a bonus too! It's a 30 minute drive to most places but the cabin is well equipped with full fridge, oven, microwave, toaster oven & Charcoal grill to serve up nice meals.
We wanted a comfy place to stay while we visited the longest cave, Mammoth Cave. This cabin was a perfect place to chill for this busy family. If youre looking for outdoor adventures and doing “camping things” without camping, this cabin is perfect.
Beautiful property, well-kept on a disc golf course. Secluded but with ready access to town. Our family had a great time and the owners were very easy to communicate with and informative. Would definitely book here again!
Hott tub was not clean which was a big reason we rented this cabin but everything else was great

I am sorry if you had problems with the hot tub. I check the tub before each guest arrives. If you had asked I would have checked again and taken care of anything you thought was needed.
We loved staying at this quiet, clean, relaxing cabin! Our 3 kids stayed downstairs and it was a great space for them. We loved our bedroom upstairs with a jacuzzi tub. We used the Green River ferry to get to the Mammoth Cave tour. We loved the hiking near the cabin at Nolin Lakes Park. The cabin was a great space for our family of 5 who loves quiet, natural places.

About the host
Hosted by Frank Hayes
I’ve been welcoming guests to Hickory Cabins for many years and enjoy sharing this part of Kentucky with people visiting the Mammoth Cave area. I’m usually nearby and available if guests need help, but I also believe a cabin getaway should give you the space to relax and enjoy your stay.
I enjoy working on the property, disc golf, technology and, more recently, astrophotography. On a clear night you may even find me outside with a telescope photographing galaxies and nebulae from our dark Kentucky skies.
My goal is pretty simple: provide a clean, comfortable place to stay and help guests have a great experience while they’re here.
Why they chose this property
We didn’t really choose this neighborhood—it has been part of my wife’s family for generations. Her family’s history in this area goes back to the early 1800s, and this property belonged to her grandfather before being passed down through the family.
That history gives this land a meaning to us that goes far beyond its location. Today, we have the opportunity to share a small part of that family heritage with our guests while they enjoy the woods, hills and natural beauty of the Mammoth Cave area.
A lot has changed here over more than two centuries, but it’s still a quiet, rural part of Kentucky where you can spend the day exploring and come back to the woods, wildlife and dark skies at night.
What makes this property unique
Hickory Cabins is more than simply a place to sleep while visiting Mammoth Cave.
Our three cabins are surrounded by 86 wooded acres, and guests have access to Wolf Knob Disc Golf Course, an 18-hole championship course designed by John Houck. It’s a destination in its own right for disc golfers, but you don’t have to play disc golf to enjoy the property.
After dark, there’s another experience overhead. Mammoth Cave National Park is an International Dark Sky Park, and our location offers wonderful opportunities for stargazing. Guests can even rent our Seestar S30 Pro smart telescope, which I set up for them, and try capturing galaxies, nebulae and other objects during their stay.
It’s a combination that’s difficult to find elsewhere: a cabin in the Kentucky woods, Mammoth Cave nearby, championship disc golf outside your door, and dark skies overhead.
