New Modern/Rustic Mountain House, Breathtaking Views at Lazy Moose Retreat
This modern-rustic retreat known as Lazy Moose was designed by its owners and is nestled in five acres just outside of Fairplay, Colorado. A getaway for family and friends, the sharp clean lines of this house with its green roof and natural eco-treated wood siding was designed to blend into its surrounding...with the non-human visitors, including Moose, Elk, Deer, Bear and Great Horned Owls, we think it has. The 700 square feet of decking offers a great viewing for sunsets and wildlife. An open kitchen with raised counter is wonderful for watching a chef do their thing. In the living room, a high-efficiency fireplace can act as either a focal point or the backdrop while warming up with the people you care about. We have three exterior active recording cameras on our house - one on the front of the house to the right of the porch, one on the north side and one on the south side of the house. The cameras are motion sensored.

Absolutely beautiful property that was perfectly suited for our ski trip to Breck and Vail. Stunning mountain views and well-appointed house that comfortably accommodated our entire family. The downstairs game room was a hit from everyone where we enjoyed pool, darts, ping-pong, and some Karaoke. Loved it.
My family and I stayed at this beautiful cabin during christmas through new years and we absolutely fell in love with the place. The hosts were great and communicated perfectly. The cabin offers everything you could possibly think of, and everything was very modern and spotless. The location was perfect and offered a breathtking view. We loved spending time by the fireplace and playing pool in the basement. Great stay, 10/10 recommend for a winter getaway!

Michel, thank you so much for the kind words. We were honored to have you be our first guests and we are thankful for treating our place with such respect. I found the ping pong equipment and it is now available...sorry that you didn't get to be the first to play.
Thanks again,
Dan and Anna My
Go get a glass (or bottle) of wine, put your slippers on, and prop your feet up. This review may be a long one. This home is more beautiful than the photos show! Everything is so neat and clean…well stocked kitchen…exquisite view! This is the place that has it all! From the start, Dan has been wonderful in answering my many questions prior to and after booking. Because our family cannot get together during the Christmas holidays, we chose to all meet in Colorado this year. Dan and Anna left the Christmas decorations up throughout the house which made our holiday celebration so special! The only problem we had in this lovely house was having to leave and head home. Many thanks, Dan and Anna!

Bonnie, thank you for entrusting us with your family holiday celebrations. We are so happy you and your family had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our home. Hope to see you again!
This property was hands downs stunning! Mule deer were our neighbors and swung by each morning while we were having coffee. The back deck looks out over the mountains giving you an amazing view of the state. The fireplace in the living room was a great addition. The smell of real wood set the mood for our stay. The home was very clean and the kitchen was top notch we cooked all our meals here and never had any issues with anything in the home. The home is situated down in the trees so you are secluded with no sight of neighbors. We were there in March and had 4 wheel drive vehicles. I highly suggest this as the driveway is steep and if there is snow you will need 4 wheel drive. My wife and I are already planning a summer trip to come back and stay at the Lazy Moose Retreat!! Thank you Dan & Anna for your beautiful home!!

Thank you so much for the kind review, Phillip. We were honored to have you at Lazy Moose for your celebration. We look forward to your return!
We love this area because of its central access to amazing hiking and stunning views whichever direction you look. Fairplay is minutes away and still carries the laid back mountain vibe while still having access to the necessities with some local flavor. When you combine those things with a property of this caliber; it made for a perfect week. The kitchen perfectly accommodated our large family with a stunning view of Pennsylvania Mountain and Mt. sherman. We love to cook and had everything needed. The sleeping accommodations, ample bathrooms and downstairs entertainment were all spot on. There is plenty of room outdoors to roam and explore as well with beautiful landscape and wildflowers galore! It was hard to leave, but we'll hold the stay in our hearts.
I have used a lot of vrbos over the years and this one by far exceeded all expectations. The location was perfect. The house is just an amazing property. The owners were attentive and easy to reach with any questions. I HIGHLY recommend staying here.
We are a large family. The home was super clean and beautiful. The outdoor views are amazing. Check in and out was easy. The owner sends a link that gives information about the home explaining all details about the home and location. Highly recommend this home for your next vacation.
Dan and Anna thank you so very much for the excellent hospitality. Your home is beautiful and very comfortable. Me and the ladies love every bit of our stay.
We never got around to playing the guitar though. I give you guys a 10 plus.
And Dan thank you for staying in contact with us during our stay.
