About this property

Group Basecamp for Mountain Getaway overlooking Trapper Peak w/ Wifi

Looking to get away from “the grind”, romantic getaway for two or are you looking for a “basecamp” for an adventure for a group of family or friends? Have you ever wanted to sit on a mountainside and see for over 10 miles on a clear day? Do you want to show the next generation what a star filled sky looks like? Well, you have found “it” in the Cor Belitore Ranch. This 2800 square foot home is situated on 40 acres that overlook the notorious Trapper Peak as seen on the acclaimed television show “Yellowstone”, the Selway-Bitterroot Mountain Range, the State of Idaho, and Rye Creek Gulch to name a few. The area is naturally stocked full of wildlife to include but certainly not limited to elk, deer (mule and white tail), big horn sheep, eagles, hawks, hummingbirds, ground squirrels, chipmonks and some of the more rare mammals such as bears, moose, coyotes, wolves and mountain lions to name a few. While drinking your coffee, deer have been known to frequent the shade of the house during the day including right on the front porch. The property adjacent to the west is a working 26,000-acre buffalo and cattle ranch, so you might catch sight of a buffalo too.

The Ranch is within driving distance of several outdoor attractions such as the Lost Trail Ski Resort, Lake Como, Painted Rock State Park, world class trout fishing, mountain biking and countless hiking trails ranging from a short, easy walk to "more adventurous". Additionally, there are several outdoor ATV/snowmobile rental/tour companies in the local area and if you bring your own ATVs, you can ride from the house directly to many of the trails. Bring your OnX apps and put them to work right out the front door. During the summer time (May to September), daylight hours range from 5:30 AM to darkness being after 10:00 PM.

This property caters just about any range of guest. From the adventurer to those who want to sleep late and read a book or binge watch television. For those who want to sleep late, we have installed blackout curtains for you. Yes, grab your favorite beverage and take a soak to watch the sunrise or sunset on Trapper Peak. Either way, we think you'll be impressed either by the views or the wildlife who are curious about the noises coming from the house. It is not uncommon for the deer to come within yards of the occupied living room just don't drop your phone or let the 5 year old scream, "Deer!" Yes, it's happened but the deer usually come back in a day or two after the screaming excitement and no, we don't cover the cost of the new cellphone so make sure you have it insured.

Outdoors:
This property is situated on 40 acres that bring an inner peace or a fantastic background for photos whether it’s a rock formation, a weathered downed tree, a mountain, or big sky, you should have no problems finding a place to take a portrait. Or you could sit atop the hill and read a book or consume a beverage of your choice. There is plenty of parking for vehicles and your toys. Let us know if you are into watching wildlife, we may be able to help with a few tricks that we learned.

Base campers:
If you or your group are looking for a basecamp for the area’s recreational activities, what a place to start. In the warmer months, there is hiking, fishing, off-road activities, and various other activities within about 30-60 minutes of the ranch. During hunting season, it’s your choice, be in the woods 45 minutes earlier, or sleep 45 minutes later. This is a great place for spouses to hang out during the day while others “venture out”! The ranch is located in the 270 hunting district. The owners have supplied a cooler for the use of our guests for day trips or picnics. With Starlink service, this is a good spot to hunt or fish early and then late, while coming back to a warm dry place to check some emails, catch a movie, relax or just a nap!

Once inside the house, you will find the interior professionally decorated by a talented Bitterroot Valley interior decorator that is furnished with amenities that the owners would want if they were a guest. The furniture is newer if not actually brand-new including quality sheets, pillows and blankets.

Upper Level:
-Common areas: There is a fireplace that is quite capable of heating the entire upper floor or a forced air heating system. There is a “family style” dining room table that overlooks the back yard valley including a deck style balcony to sit outside and enjoy nature. In the living room, there is a couch and a love seat which both have recliners for your weary legs and feet. There is a 55" flat screen television that you can stream shows and movies from your private accounts or plug into your own device and catch a downloaded movie or show. There is a set of high-powered binoculars that sit atop of a tripod to view anything at a significant distance to include, game, vehicles, people hiking across the valley or even helicopters flying through the valley below. (Yes, “below”. It is common for them to fly through the valley at a lower altitude than the house.) The kitchen is stocked with new appliances and some of the basics for spices. The laundry room is also on this floor that is equipped with a front loading washer and dryer.

-Kitchen: Is stocked with pretty much anything you will need to cook your favorite meal to include a new gas 5-burner grill just outside the dining room door overlooking the valley. Pots, pans, mixers, a blender, knife set, steak knives, cast iron skillets to name a few as well as some of the basics for spices.

-Bedrooms: There are three upper bedrooms which include a king size bed (master) and two queen beds in the secondary bedrooms which are referred to as the “Bear Room” and the “Compass Room” as the décor presents. The upper floor will sleep a total of six adults and there are two full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a dedicated full bathroom and a walk-in style closet as well as another 55" television. The secondary bedrooms have full closets and share a full bathroom.

Lower Level:
The lower level has been decorated with the kids or at least the kid at heart, in mind known as the “bunkhouse”. There are two sets of bunk beds that will sleep a total of four, a lounging area to watch the electric fireplace, read a book, or just somewhere for the kids “to be kids” to include the 75" television. (Sorry kids, you'll have to bring your own game system.) Adjacent to the bunkhouse, there is a pub style area for socialization or a great game of foosball. The electric fireplace can be for heat or aesthetics only. This level has a walk-out door to the backyard and a full bathroom.

Some quotes of others who have visited the ranch.
"The pictures on your site don't do your property any justice..."
-“This is like looking out of a helicopter.”
-"Now I know what a million dollar view looks like."
-“This house is in the clouds.” (Referring to the altitude of the home and when there are clouds in the valley, you will be looking down at the clouds.
-“I could just sit here all day and drink my coffee.”
-“I thought I would just come here to relax, read a book and watch some movies but the only thing I accomplished was relaxing.”
-“The drive alone was worth it.”
-“I don’t want to leave.” (Male, age 32)

Breathtaking
This felt like a true mountain vacation. The house is gorgeous and the views are breathtaking. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud. We loved the deer that came every day. Trent (host) was the best. He gave so much information ahead of time which allowed us to plan well. This truly was an amazing experience.

Amazing
I can't say enough positive things about this property and the experience we had during our stay! We used this as a base for multiple day fly fishing trips. The views in the pictures do not do it justice. The night sky on a clear night was incredible. 5 Stars plus. We will be back!

Amazing Getaway with great views
We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Communication with Trent was was easy and always helpful. He worked to find us a photographer who was amazing and did a fantastic job. Shelly (housekeeperextraordinaire) was helpful and so kind. The house was amazing. Everything was up to date and so cozy. We really did not need for anything except another week to enjoy it. The view is stunning. We saw lots of wildlife I especially loved the chipmunks but the mule deer where everywhere . You will need to expect a 20 minute drive down the mountain to get to the highway only because you are at the top with your beautiful view so it was worth it. So much to see in Darby, Hamilton and the outdoors providers you with days of entertainment from fishing, to scenic drives, to swimming and hiking. It was a great stay. It provided us with the relaxation we needed to spend with our children!

Beautiful
The road up is a little intimidating if you are afraid of heights, but it is safe and the view takes your breath away once you arrive. Having coffee with the mule deer in the morning and watching billions of stars at night is how I would love to start and end every day. Plenty of chairs on the deck for stargazing but I would bring fold-out chairs that lay flat for the driveway that leaves no obstructed view of the night sky. During the day my family and I had fun whitewater rafting, fishing the rivers on the way to Painted Rock state park, swimming at Lake Como, hiking Baker Lake, the Darby Rodeo and horseback riding. We had a wonderful family vacation with our 3 teens. Thank you for letting us share a little piece of your heaven :)

Amazing
This place was absolutely Beautiful!! The views from the house are amazing the pictures listed doesn't do this property & landscape any justice. This was our first time to Montana & we will be back again! Trent has been awesome since we’ve booked the place an throughout the entire stay, Shelly came to pick up the trash while we were there an gave us some in sight on waterfall near by. Great People! The house is very nice up to date & was very clean. We had some friends meet us there for a few days we had a total of 5- Adults, 2- Teens, & 3- 6-10yr olds the house had more then enough room for everyone. Our friends stayed a total of 3 nights we stayed a total of 7 nights there was 5 of us that stayed the remainder of the trip. The wildlife is in abundance around the property & along the drive to the house. If you want the scenery & the seclusion away from everyone where you can just kick back relax an take it all in then, I can’t recommend this place enough the sky at night an the views during the day just beautiful.

About the host

Hosted by Trent Helms

Host profile image
We are a dual veteran owned property who love Montana and want to be able to share it with others, at an affordable price.

Connie and Trent began traveling to Montana in 2019 were we first stayed in the Big Sky area and loved it. However, it was quite expensive. The following year, they traveled to the western side of Montana and fell even more in love with Montana, more specifically the Bitterroot Valley. During that stay, they actually stayed in a VRBO property that is near this one and simply felt "grounded". We spent well over a year working with a realtor to find "a place better than home" ranging from Corvallis as far south as the Lost Trail Ski Area and east as far as Livingston (east of Bozeman, Montana).

We continued to work with local small businesses and contacts in an effort to build relationships where people from any walk of life will feel, well "at home" as we did. We also wanted to find and purchase a place that was affordable, yet has a "mystic" about it.

Welcome to the Cor Belitore Ranch. "Cor" was the name of a German Shepard that we had when we met several years ago and unfortunately, is no longer with us. He has an inspiring story that is memorialized at the "Ranch".

We have been staying at VRBO's for many years and have enjoyed most, endured several, and could not get out of a few fast enough for one reason or another. We wanted the Ranch to be the location someone cannot get enough of. Period.

Why they chose this property

So why the Cor Belitore Ranch? Connie and Trent purchased the property with the intent purpose of having a place that was affordable for a couple or a retreat for a group. It sleeps 10, in beds not "fold out couches". The couches do not fold out, but if you'd like to take a nap, it's highly encouraged. We hired a local interior decorator and planned the house "as if it was your second home" and not a "We/I have extra space, so let's see if we can make some money off it." The intent of the property is be warm, welcoming and to be Cor's guest, not "a client".

The property is located remotely and some who live in the area full time consider this to be one of the best locations on "the mountain". It is extremely quiet and about the most activity is seeing a neighboring ranch vehicle drive by. With this house, literally being at "the end of the road", you might not see any vehicles for days.

We find the Ranch to be close enough to "go and do", yet far enough away that you feel "disconnected" to recharge.

In the current state of society, we allow 24 hours between guests to allow the professional cleaning staff to appropriately clean the house, allow disinfectants to cure and allow the air filtration system to cycle several times to maximize a healthy environment. We do not support a "turn and burn" mentality. We desire a place were we would have our own grandchildren to stay.

What makes this property unique

It is located about 50 minutes from Darby, Montana were there is a small grocery store, a Dollar Store, several small eateries and other quaint small businesses. If you desire something a little "more", Hamilton is another 10 minutes north on Highway 93. Some of the best micro brewed beer is found in Darby, we encourage you to try one; responsibly of course. Or, take some back to the ranch for an even better experience.

If you would like to have a bit of time to yourself, we encourage you to walk up the mountain to the highest point on the property with a folding chair and enjoy a beverage and the view. We will warn you, beware of all the deer droppings. They don't pick up like neighborhood dogs do.

Velvet Road and 4 Mile Road are privately maintained dirt roads and therefore does not afford large volumes of traffic. To be exact, there are only 2 additional homes on 4 Mile Road from Dugout Gulch Road to the Ranch. This affords the Ranch to be isolated and quiet, yet no one to interfere with a gathering of 10.

There is extremely limited cellular service on the property and we are awaiting on the Starlink(tm) satellite equipment. Additionally, we will be installing televisions with a satellite television system after the winter months. We are also looking to have a hot tub installed on the property. Please follow the Ranch for updates. We also have a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CorBelitoreRanch. Stay tuned for updates.
