Perfect place for a ski weekend. Right down the road from Catamount and the center of town (which has great shopping and dining) The host was so responsive and the place was cozy!
The property was very nice. The views from backyard of night sky were great. Backyard looked amazing with the fresh snow. My children and pet really enjoyed the space outside. Inside was very cozy for all of us to sit together and watch TV
David's house was comfortable and as advertised. The house is close to the town center of Great Barrington. We had a nice couple days in the Berkshires. Thank you.

Location was very convenient to access the Appalachian Trail at several points for our week of day hikes. Property was clean and quiet. Easy access to towns for restaurants, etc. Would recommend this property for a budget conscious renter.
We were only planning to be in the Great Barrington area for a couple of nights and needed a place that was comfortable and close to all the local places of interest. This home was perfect for our needs. It was close, clean, and our host David was very responsive. We'd definitely stay here again.
What a cozy home! Clean, spacious, and in a quiet area. The check in/out process was so easy, communication was prompt, and we appreciated the thoughtful amenities, such as the snack basket in the kitchen!
This cute house was roomy, clean, had a full kitchen set-up and snacks on the counter, plus it was extremely quiet. It was a perfect place to getaway for a weekend, near the quaint village of Egremont and hiking trails. Special shout-out to Mom's Country Cafe for delicious and filling breakfast! Check-in/out and communication was easy. We enjoyed our stay!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Please book again.
Thank you,

Davids's house was just as described. The location is very close to Catamount and made trips back and forth with little ones very simple. There is a ton of space with a family of 4, so it never felt crowded with all our ski stuff. A couple more chairs around the fire area would add to the charm. Housekeeping was easy to reach and helpful. We had a peaceful weekend away to ski.
Older house with lots of character. We were there during a hot and humid spell and the upstairs was on the stuffy side but we were able to open most of the windows and get decent ventilation. There is a mini-split with AC in the kitchen but we had a hard time getting it to cool most of the house. We were in the area for a concert at Tanglewood and it was an easy drive. Overall a great little spot just probably a more comfortable stay in the fall and winter.
Due to our overall medical conditions, was unable to stay at this house, due to the musty smell. Other than that was a great place and location. Just some people can't handle certain allergy triggers.

Sorry to hear about the "smell". The house was just cleaned at the time you arrived. We have not had a complaint like this. Perhaps it was the lemon scent floor cleaner, we were using lavender and perhaps we should switch back.
Thanks for the feedback.

Rustic
It was OK. Very musty odor permeates the whole house. Has nothing to do with cleaning chemicals. Many trip hazards do to the way floors were installed such as at top of stairs and at bedroom entryways. Stairs steep and narrow at the top. One small TV in the living room. High traffic noise during the day. House is close to the busy road. Shower is very slippery with nothing to grab on to. Mattresses and bed linens are low quality and not very comfortable. Comforters are synthetic and don’t breathe. Noise travels easily throughout the house.
If you are looking for rustic, basic accommodations, other than the musty odor, this is for you. Personally, I would not choose this house again.

Our short term rental house was built in the 1930’s by Bill Mielke the grandfather of some local house builders by the name of Race. It’s not the best house but it has some history. Like other houses in the village it was built with some used components from other buildings in the town. Egremont was a fairly large mill town by the end of the 1800’s and around the 1930’s a lot of those mills were being torn down. It is known that many of the houses in the Village of Egremont were built with materials from the old mills. This was not trash, this was labor turned into use. We are going to leave this house as close to history as possible. Also, most of the lumber put into this house was locally grown.
This house reflects a minimalistic impact although the giant bathtub and some other parts may contrast this approach, the house has its own charm or personality. Putting a giant oversized television in the middle of it would probably not support it’s charm. People come to see a historical area where a lot of modern technology was developed. This area was at the forefront of western civilization for many years and just because of individual complaints we don’t feel the importance to modify what already works and is functional.
We maintain a clean and healthy house, which is in the country. There is a farm to the east which may omit odors that are not always pleasant to all, but it doesn’t usually last very long, since the wind usually blows from west to east. Most likely you were smelling the farm from next door. The wood stove can also omit some interesting odors occasionally but we did recently clean that.
We will work to address the other complaints.
Thank you,
David
My partner and I loved our stay. The house is spacious and has plenty of amenities. The wood stove was wonderful, especially since the outdoor temperatures dipped into the negative numbers. Once we got the fire going, the whole house warmed up quickly and stayed warm for hours after the fire went out. The tub was nice and deep, and the jets worked great to ensure a nice, relaxing bath. The location is private, only about 12 minutes from downtown Great Barrington, and is easy to get to when using GPS. David, the host, was really helpful, responsive, and easy-going. We accidentally left a few things behind, and he contacted me right away to make arrangements to get the items back to my partner and me. All the instructions he sent in advance were clear and accurate, and made check-in and check-out a breeze.
We wanted to rent a house in the general Great Barrington area in mid-December, and this is an outstanding vacation rental for the price and time of year. The house was clean and fresh, good beds, everything works, no unpleasant surprises. We would rent this property again. The owners did a great job with the instructions, rules and local interests. Anyone else renting this property, I'd want you to know that the driveway is VERY hard to see, we drove into the driveways of both houses on either side of this rental property before we could see where our driveway was. To be fair, 9 inches of snow had fallen the day before. I would want other renters to know that the entrance to the property is in the BACK (owners, take note), so you would not end up like tromping through deep snow to the front door and wondering if we are still in the wrong place, that having been missing from the instructions. I'd advise the owners to place a cheap show shovel in the lean-to out back where the broom was all we had to clear a way into the house, as long as the snow removers are running late (we arrived late afternoon). But you don't travel to the mountains in winter and expect everything, we didn't, and seeing this region with a fresh blanket of snow, all dressed up for the holidays, made it a great trip. - John
Great spot close to Tanglewood and other Great Barrington area attractions
David and Yasmin were easy to communicate with and had great recommendations for the area. We had 5 adults in town for a show at Tanglewood and we all (plus a dog!) found the house plenty roomy and comfortable. Area was buggy but we brought our own citronella candles and sitting outside was very pleasant - the sky was so clear and full of stars our first night! Perfect accommodations and location for our trip.
Not a suitable lodging for hot weather or aged occupants
The backyard was idyllic. Overlooking a dairy farm and wildflowers. The property was clean. However 5 towels for 4 adults for 4 was unsatisfactory. Ended up using ‘hand towels’ for washcloths.
The shower/tub arrangement was negligent on the owner’s part. I’m 83 years old and there was a 24”-28” step over the side of the biggest tub I have ever seen to stand under a shower head from the ceiling without any non-skid footing. I had to use a local friend’s bathroom to bathe. I know that feature should have been disclosed prior to my renting.
Please, the a/c was one wall unit in the kitchen. One fan available. We roasted upstairs.
I had booked for a pet, but he passed away 2 weeks prior to our stay. No pets.
Great winter rental for the young.
This is a great location for a getaway in Western Massachusetts! The house is spacious with everything you need, the outdoor space is near perfect, and the towns nearby are picturesque. Yasmin was so friendly and responsive & the check-in process was smooth. We visited on a particularly warm weekend and were concerned because the property has no cooling or fans in most of the rooms, but found the farmhouse to be so comfortable even on a 94 degree day! We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return again!

Perfect location, lovely house. Enjoyed my stay and will visit again.
Our stay at this cozy house was lovely. It is on an open patch of property and quite private. If you have children, there are stairs to negotiate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a full kitchen. The town of Great Barrington is just 10 minutes away with lots of options for shops and dining. The paths near the house are delightful for short hikes. We would return for sure.
We enjoyed our stay at the house. Convenient location to the ski mountains and easy check in process. The heat works great, especially upstairs and the shower tub made for great memories. If the coffee pot is upgraded to a larger size, we will definitely be return visitors! Thank you for the great weekend!!

Thank you Brian! Glad you enjoyed the stay! We will be upgrading our coffee pot to a larger one by Feb 12th. Thanks for the feedback!
Great location to catamount mountain. Overall the house was clean a little outdated. Shower is in the Jacuzzi tub which can be difficult for certain people to get in-and-out of. If you're looking to a skiing perfect location. Please feel free to contact with other details.
