About this property

Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point, WiFi with YouTube Tv, Divide, Woodland Park

With closeup views of Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point, “Rocky Mountain Heights” is perfect for vacations and getaways for couples, friends, or for small families, and is a fabulous spot for “working from home.” The cabin is on 3.2 acres atop a hill in the western foothills of Pikes Peak. View Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point while snuggled up in the sun room, or stretched out in the Adirondack lawn chairs. Hundreds of acres of undeveloped BLM forested hills provide privacy and amazing views. As you view down the stunning valleys, listen to the narrow mountain stream that flows into the beaver ponds on neighbor’s private property. Watch for the yearly visits of mama moose with their newborns. Wildlife abounds, with moose and elk nearby, and with mule deer grazing in our yard, and foxes, rabbits, chipmunks, soaring hawks, and songbirds cheering your spirits. From 9,500 ft, unplug, relax, and watch beautiful sunrises, brilliant stars, quaking Aspen, and silent snowfalls. Security/Game cameras are installed in the front and back of the property. The cabin is one level, with no stairs and easy parking, and a low fenced front and back yard for the kiddos.

Charming mountain cabins often do not provide all the conveniences that we have: a workspace/ adjustable height computer desk (sit or stand) and chair; a gas fireplace, dishwasher, washer/dryer, new comfy king and queen beds, televisions in both bedroooms and the living room, new propane bbq grill, and a sunroom. Plus sunrises and MOON rises over nearby Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point and undeveloped forests. The log cabin exterior and the interior woodwork add to the mountain charm, with vaulted pine ceilings throughout, and hickory hardwood floors in the living and dining areas. YouTube television and internet are available, and you can prepare meals from the well-appointed kitchen.
Activities Galore are in every direction!
Our area is a hiker’s dream! Just 5.7 miles away are the trailheads to The Crags ( 7 mile trail up the backside of Pikes Peak) and Raspberry Mnt, as well as popular Mueller State Park, with 50 miles of trails of all levels on FIVE THOUSAND ACRES! Or just drive through for vistas of Pikes Peak to the east, and the Continental Divide to the west. Horse Thief, Dome Rock and The Pancakes Trails are minutes away. In Cripple Creek, 12 miles south, are the casinos, the nationally famous Ice Castles (winter 2023-2024), and the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine Tours. Just 25 miles away, travel up Pikes Peak by car, or take the cog railway up from Manitou Springs, or take the kids to North Pole-Santa’s Workshop Amusement Park. On the way to Colorado Springs, also visit the Rocky Mnt Dinosaur Resource Center, Cave of the Winds, Indian Cliff Dwellings, Garden of the Gods, The Air Force Academy, the famous Broadmoor Hotel and Seven Falls, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Kids and adults love it!

Our central location allows you to enjoy all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer: hunting, skiing, river rafting, kayaking, world class fly fishing, snowmobiling, sledding, hiking, biking, ATVing, Jeeping, zip lining, and rock climbing. Colorado Springs is just 45 minutes away. The Royal Gorge is 57 miles away, offering river rafting, extreme zip lining, train rides, and gondola rides across the Gorge. The snow ski areas of Breckenridge and Monarch are less than 2 hours away, without the high cost of lodging, and the travel congestion of I-70 from Denver.

One of our favorite spots is less than 30 miles from the cabin — Eleven Mile Canyon. (Not to be confused with Eleven Mile Resevoir nearby). Drive through and ask the ranger to point out the huge bald eagles’ nest on the way in. The South Platte River rushes and tumbles between the stunning canyon walls, in the quintessential, picture-postcard Colorado wild. Picnic, hike, fish, fly fish, or never leave your car. A photographer’s dream! A Must See!

On the way back, visit the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center.
All the roads leading to the cabin from every direction are excellent highways, except for the last 1.2 miles, which are 2 lane, decompressed granite roads which are well-maintained by the county after rains and snow.
Come home to the gas burning fireplace in the cabin, nestled in Colorado mountains, where “nature’s finest” is right out your door!

Great cabin!
This cabin is described perfectly in the listing. Hosts were extremely helpful. Great location if you are looking for something secluded, but still close to everything. Probably the cleanest rental unit we’ve ever stayed. The hosts thought of everything and provided way more than expected in the way of amenities. Definitely recommend!

Amazing Location
We were looking for something remote but near all the things we wanted to experience. We found it in this property. Pikes Peak was visible from the back of the house. The owners were great to work with and even reached out to us about things that may interest us during our stay. This is an amazing rental and we had a great time.
