The Cabin by the Pond at Laurel Springs Farm was absolutely incredible. The cabin was well appointed and immaculate, and the hosts were great people. The location was perfect for us, quiet and surrounded by nature. Don’t hesitate, this place is fabulous!
Brenda and Eric's cabin is perfect for a couple's getaway or a trip with a friend. The property was easy to find, beautiful, and private. We especially enjoyed the charming (and very clean!) space and its ample amenities, the hot tub, scenery, and easy access to a number of hiking trails within a short drive. Brenda and Eric were thorough with directions and quick to respond when a storm prompted a repair to the hot tub cover. Great hosts, great property, would gladly stay again!
me and my partner had a beautiful stay at this cabin. the attention to detail and atmosphere was absolutely what we needed during our winter storm. we want to come back in the summer to see the pond!
I was unable to use the hot tub because i am diabetic. I loved soaking in the claw tub. Location was great. Went to rockbridge and walked thru antique mall. Loved the cabin. It was so peaceful.
We had a lovely stay here. The tub and sights were gorgeous. When we temporarily lost power due to a severe wind storm the owner was very helpful and quick to respond. Overall a beautiful spot tucked away for some peace and quiet.
Our stay at this cabin was fabulous and a perfect location to celebrate our anniversary weekend. It was so cozy! It is so beautifully decorated with so many extra touches of charm. I highly recommend staying here.
Such a beautiful weekend! This cabin was quaint, cozy and perfect for our weekend getaway. Short 15 min drive to Hocking Hills State Park attractions. Would recommend it to any couple looking for a nice romantic getaway for the weekend. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating.
Laurel Springs Farm is a 67-acre family farm situated just three miles from Laurelville in the scenic Hocking Hills. Owned and operated by Eric and Brenda Schmidt, the farm represents both a sanctuary and a new beginning for us.
Our journey into agriculture began after a fraudulent business merger that left us with nothing but this land nestled in the countryside. Faced with adversity, we made the decision to embrace farming as our new way of life. Although the transition presented many challenges, we have found the work to be deeply rewarding.
Each day on the farm brings fresh experiences and opportunities to learn. We feel truly fortunate to have this beautiful land to shape and call our own. It offers a peaceful retreat for our family and friends, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The labor involved in maintaining the farm also serves as excellent exercise, contributing positively to our overall health and well-being.
Why they chose this property
Nestled within the beautiful Hocking Hills region, our property offers guests a truly unique and memorable experience. The centerpiece of our retreat is a cozy cabin, thoughtfully designed and constructed with care and attention to detail.
We, Eric and Brenda, personally built most of the distinctive features found throughout the cabin. Our hands-on approach allowed us to infuse the space with character and warmth, making it both inviting and special.
To ensure the highest quality and durability, we enlisted the skilled Amish community to construct the frame of the cabin. Additionally, some of the furniture was crafted by the Amish, adding authentic charm and lasting beauty to the interior.
This property holds deep personal meaning for us, and we are pleased to share it with our guests. We hope that all who visit enjoy the space as much as we do, creating cherished memories in a place that is close to our hearts.
What makes this property unique
The master bedroom features a suspended, one-of-a-kind porch swing style log queen bed, offering a truly distinctive sleeping experience. In the loft, you will find another custom log bed, though this one is not suspended, continuing the theme of handcrafted woodwork throughout the home.
Artisanal Furniture and Flooring Stained concrete floors run throughout the space, lending durability and a rustic aesthetic. The live edge vanity and dining table both showcase natural wood finishes, and the dining table has the added functionality of dropping down to maximize space as needed.
Architectural Highlights The front wall is constructed from wood slices harvested by the Amish, using trees that were taken down during the tornado that struck the area a few years ago. This unique feature serves as a meaningful and beautiful tribute to the area’s history.
Functional Design and Relaxation Spaces A rolling bookcase door leads to the laundry and utility area, combining convenience with style. The large red slipper tub invites relaxation and comfort, providing an ideal spot to unwind.
Handmade Accents and Outdoor Spaces Most features in the home are completely handmade, including drop cloth curtains adorned with giant safety pins, fringe, and other embellishments for a personalized touch. A custom front bench offers a perfect vantage point to enjoy the firepit and gaze at the night sky. Additionally, a custom inset charcoal grill is available for outdoor cooking. Mom's flower garden features many of Brenda's mother's favorite plants, adding a personal and inviting atmosphere to the property.
Experience Outdoor Activities and Private Cabin Retreat The cabin offers privacy near Hocking Hills Parks and local attractions. Guests can explore several acres of the farm, enjoy Lance's Pond and the fishing shack with provided fishing gear, and inquire about our seasonal fruit. It’s an ideal spot for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions.
