Great, private location but close to many activities.
Our group had a great time staying at Tom's place. Plenty of room, clean and comfortable. Close to many activities, golf course across the street. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again .
The check in process was seamless and the house was great! It is the perfect getaway and place to stay with friends and family. Location wise, it couldn’t have been better!
Loved staying at this property and will definitely be booking again. It felt like home and was everything we needed for our group. I hosted some friends after a fun day of skiing. It was an easy drive into Petoskey too.
Tom's place was a perfect place to lodge. We loved gathering in the kitchen, gazing at the zillions of stars at night, sleeping in the comfortable beds. We were minutes away from Walloon and not far from Petoskey and Boyne City. It was a great stay and we'd return for sure.

Tom
Great home, perfect for our large group. We lost power during our stay, Tom was quick to respond to our call and stay in touch with us from the power company. Everything was just as listed - a few extra fans might be nice for Summer guests as there is no air. But despite that, no real complaints!
Spacious home in a great location! Golfing so close by, skiing as well. Walloon Lake just a few miles away. We had a wedding event at nearby Springbrook Farms. It was lovely as well! Thanks Tom. We had a great time!
The area scenery was spectacular.
Our stay was comfortable and we loved the fire place for cozy fires on the chilly nights we were there.
The home was very well set up and clean and felt welcoming.
Areas of discomfort were the outdoor grill gas was empty when we were ready to cook our steaks, the oven was pretty filthy and we couldn't locate the hot tub that was advertised on the site.
Our family had a wonderful time in this spacious, comfortable home. We spent evenings on the front porch or back deck star gazing. Close to Walloon Lake, Petoskey and Charlevoix. The beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and clean. Tom was helpful in recommending restaurants and golf course.

Patrick. Thanks for the nice review. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Welcome back any time.
Home was clean and as described. Everyone said their beds were very comfortable. Communicated with host easily through the app. Host was very responsive to request for early trash pick up as the instructions were to store in entryway. Would suggest other visitors to bring additional fans to save from going to buy them. Keypad for the front door was tricky but we figured it out. When you tap the keypad, two numbers light up. Press those and then the entire keypad will illuminate and you can enter the code then. Thanks for helping us make family memories.
Tom was awesome. We were there for a ski weekend. Place was about 15 min from Boyne Mountain. House is great. Amazing fireplace. Clean. Plenty of room. Host was super responsive. Highly recommend.
The property was perfect for our golf trip up north. The group was able to easily navigate to all the local courses, enjoy downtown Petoskey at night and enjoy ample space on the property during our downtime. From gathering around the large kitchen island for social hour, to playing yard games outside, to bonfires at night, the property was very accommodating. The house had several bedrooms which made it very comfortable for a group of 11 adults.

Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed your stay!
Our vacation at Tom’s place was absolutely amazing. Not only was Tom responsive to questions during our stay but ensured everything was ready to go by the time we arrived. The home was spotless and fit our group perfectly. The house is a short and pretty drive to boyne. You will not be disappointed staying here, it was even hard to leave the house to go skiing! You’ll have everything and more you need here. Planning to make this our yearly spot!! Thanks for the perfect weekend
This house was great to fit our large family! We loved all of the space, and the kids enjoyed the ping pong and games. The fireplace was such a nice feature, and we used it as much as possible. The house is big and airy, so there were times when we were freezing, but layers and the fireplace did help. It's not too far from Boyne Mountain, which was the main reason for our trip, so it was nice to have a place close enough to come back to for lunch and go back out skiing later in the evening. The oven in the kitchen was a bit old, and it needed to be cleaned, but overall, we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the home. Great stay!
We had 13 of us including 5 kids. Three generation family get away for 4 nights. Great space overall. Enjoyed darts, ping pong, and hanging out in the large living space. The place could use a bit of TLC. Some torn screens, doors that are difficult to shut, etc. Had one problem the owner worked to address. No A/C but the place stayed remarkably comfortable despite temps in the 80’s. Big space for a large group.
We had a large group of 11 family members from ages 10-62 for a week staying here. The home had plenty of space to spread out. You could choose to be together or find your own private spot. Plenty of space on the front porch and back deck. We played board games, and cards most evenings. We took many day trips into near by cities and explored. This home feels like a home, not just a house you rent. Any time we had questions Tom responded right away. He is an amazing host.
Thank you again Tom for everything. We will plan to book this home again in the future.

Read amenities clearly!!!
My experience at this home wasn’t good at all. To start , assuming almost every home in America had A/C, this home had no AIR CONDITIONER! It says it in the description but you over look it assuming every home nowadays has one. The linens were not clean as well. The heat in the home made it really difficult to sleep that we had to buy our own portable air conditioner. The host was not quick to reply and would take a few days to get back. I’ve never had such a bad experience.

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay. Surprisingly, most homes in northern Michigan do not have AC because it is cool at night most of the time. And my house is cleaned by one of the top cleaning services in the area and fresh linens are always a top priority. Best of luck on future vacations.

Not good!!!
The house was infested with hundreds of live and dead flies and beetles in the main rooms, bedrooms, and garage apartment. I contacted the owner immediately, and he acknowledged the issue. He claimed he had cleaned up the flies during a prior visit but was unsure how to help us further. We spent two hours vacuuming bugs. The owner had been aware of the infestation for weeks but failed to eliminate the problem. Next, there was a leak in the dining room ceiling, directly beneath the upstairs bathroom. Upon closer inspection, there was a visible crack and staining on the ceiling. We repeatedly tried to contact the owner that evening to inform him of the more serious issue but didn’t hear back until 10:30 PM. The owner claimed he wasn’t aware of the plumbing problem and that we should “just use” the other bathrooms. At that point, we informed him we would be checking out the next morning.Other issues included filthy kitchen cabinets, cookware that needed to be rewashed, a non-functional and moldy fridge in the garage apartment, non-functional gutters causing meltwater to flow directly on the front steps, and rotting wood on the porch. The house could have been perfect for our large group and has so much potential, but the abovementioned issues made it unacceptable. All the problems have been documented through photos and video. The owner issued the maximum refund VRBO would permit. The "Premier Host" designation for this property is misleading.

Thank you for the pungent review of your stay at my Boyne house. I’m sorry that your unfortunate timing resulted in cluster flies and a leaky pipe. I guess not everyone can have a five star experience.
The plumbing issue was resolved in 24 hours and cluster flies are a common nuisance in northern Michigan at the time of your stay. Plumbing issues usually occur randomly without advance notice, as was the case here. The maximum number of occupants allowed to stay in the house is 12, but there were 14 in your group which only adds more strain on the home’s resources.
Renters are told about the upstairs refrigerator not functioning properly, but is clean.
There are a couple exterior repairs slated for the spring (the house has no gutters) that would certainly not impact someone’s stay during the winter.
Good luck on future rentals.
We really enjoyed our time in Boyne Falls. The property was close enough to Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Traverse City that we could visit all three places and still have family time together in the evenings! The home was perfect for our needs

About the host
Hosted by Tom Van Itallie
I raised my two boys in the Clarkston, MI area and we love to ski, golf, fish, anything that has to do with the outdoors. Renting this house makes all that available to those who want a taste of what northern Michigan has to offer.
Why they chose this property
This home is surrounded by beauty and has total privacy. A river runs through the backyard while a golf course with a hundred-year-old barn is across the street.
What makes this property unique
This property is big enough for a large group and the great room is an awesome place to hang with friends and family in front of the huge fireplace (and I provide all the wood)!
Premier Host
They consistently provide great experiences for their guests
