Very private woodsy site, yet near conveniences. Walk to Garwoods restaurant or Watermans beach! A great 'get away from it all'... place!
This all pinewood Mountain Retreat has old Tahoe charm in every room. New kitchen & baths with lovely mountain furnishings make this home a comfortable family retreat for all seasons. Relax on a huge sunny deck or enjoy the warmth of a crackling wood fire. The sun room is a great place to awaken for breakfast before embarking on a backyard ski into the national forest. Adventurous skiers can ski from the cabin and summit Mt Pluto at Northstar resort, then ski back.
Comfortably share the Tahoe experience with friends or another family. A separate playroom/TV room, away from the living room make for quiet adult apres ski conversation while enjoying the stone hearth or outside deck. Off the playroom, an outside sandy badminton/volleyball court or Bocce or Croquet in the backyard make this ideal for young kids. Sports equipment in cabin.
The cabin sleeping arrangements are: Bedroom 1 with 'Queen Log Bed' and exterior deck. Bedroom 2 with 'Queen Log Bed' and exterior deck. Bedroom 3 with 'Log Bunk Bed' twin mattress over full size mattress. Bedroom 4 with full size bed-separate room off the loft with low ceiling-for kids or small adults Twin mattress in the loft Full size pull out couch in Family room.
Gas BarBQue on the deck; sometimes an igloo is in backyard... courtesy of my kids.

This property is wonderfully cozy. Owner has all the amenities the crew will need for base camp to ski and come back and recover. Extensive advice and details provided by the owner really helped make this trip enjoyable and accommodating!
We stayed 5 days at the property for a quick end-of-summer getaway. House was comfortable, owner provided tons of information about the house and local area. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out (Two adults and 3 kids all had their own beds). Kitchen had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed making homemade ice cream using the “ice cream ball.” Will stay again next time we visit!
Everything about our stay was exceptional from the communication with the property owners to the house itself. The place is fully equipped, well located, clean and perfect to make great memories. I highly recommend staying here!
Booking and communication with owner was easy and property exactly as described - even has bonus beds and a dogs allowed policy. All in all - an excellent choice for ski week for our family.
Thanks for a great stay in Agate Bay! Steve was so responsive both prior to and during our stay. The house is conveniently located near Northstar, Alpine, and Squaw as well as great nearby hiking trails. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace was cozy, and the games library was extensive for family time. We will be returning!
Our family of 4 spent a week at this wonderful property. This home was private and quiet but also provided easy access to great restaurants & other amenities. It had a very lived-in, comfort home feel, in the best possible way. We loved the glass-surround dining area and plentiful nature yard space. The owner was very responsive throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Great Cabin Retreat
This cabin home is truly a wonderful retreat, and my entire party was really happy with it. Cozy, warm decor, and well-provisioned. We all had a lovely time, and everyone commented on how happy they would be to rent this home again in the future. The owner was a real pleasure to "work" with, and I really appreciated his responsive yet laid back demeanor.

Great Tahoe House!
We had such a great time at your cabin. The kids loved sledding down the homemade sled run while the adults lounged by the cozy fireplace. The layout of the house was great for two families. We had a great time and hope to come back in the future. Thanks for the recommendation for Granlibakken resort -- we took the kids sledding one day and had a blast!

Great cabin
This is a great cabin for a family visit (although probably not the best for very small children). It is well-appointed, located in a quiet neighborhood, and within walking distance of the lake (maybe a 20-minute walk). A small plumbing problem (clogged sink) when we arrived was taken care of expeditiously.

Unforgettable
My family and I stood at this cabin over a month ago and we continuously talk about our stay. We enjoyed ourselves very much. This cabin had everything we needed and more. The owner was so transparent with the reservation and made himself available for any questions. I highly recommend this cabin!!!
We had a family group of 8 on this stay and could not have been more happy with our stay. There was virtually everything we needed at our fingertips. Wood for the fireplace, chairs for the beach, recommendations for local restaurants, etc. Steve did a great job communicating and you can tell him and his wife put their personal touches on every part of the cabin. Recommend for anyone looking for a classic Tahoe cabin for a reasonable price.

Great Weekend Stay in Tahoe
The house was in a perfect location near grocery store and a small beach that was dog-friendly! My family and friends really enjoyed the stay. The home is warm and inviting...perfect relaxation on the deck surrounded by trees and quiet! Would like to have had more updated kitchen utensils and pans, etc but the grill was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone! Thank you Steve!

Great Location - Walking Distance to the Lake!
We stayed here with our two dogs over Labor Day weekend. The house has a very rustic feel, perfect for that "get away from it all" weekend. This would be a fun house with kids - lots of nooks and crannies perfect for hide-and-seek. Families will enjoy the volleyball court, games, and fireplace. This house can sleep a lot of people, and the large chair in the living room is the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. The owners are very nice, and great to work with! Be sure to grab breakfast at the Old Post Office Cafe - delicious!
Steven and Dorthy’s place is in a Tahoe Vista neighborhood close to everything the North Tahoe area offers. We cooked a lot (covid!) and found everything we needed in the kitchen, even frosty beer mugs in the freezer. Beds are comfy, hangout spaces are snug but not cramped. Fireplace is beautiful and so are Steven’s watercolors on the walls. We had a great stay, and even brought our little dog. Recommend!

Perfect Tahoe Vacation
Our family stayed here with another family (4 adults, 4 young kids) over a long weekend in March 2016. The location is great for either summer or winter Tahoe run-- close to the lake, restaurants, etc and also close to ski resorts, snow play areas etc. The cabin is great-- roomy (there is an extra small bedroom in addition to the 3 advertised rooms which is perfect for kids), fully stocked (games, DVDs, firewood, sleds, full kitchen setup, etc), with plenty of rustic Tahoe charm. They even have a pancake griddle! The owners are very nice and responsive. Highly recommend!!
Lake Tahoe is a very special place for my family. We had a wonderful stay at this property. As soon as I booked, Steve was in communication with me and communicated regularly. He went above and beyond by providing recommendations for our trip. As a result, we were able to explore many new places in Carnelian Bay. I loved the cabin’s layout. The cabin had all the supplies we needed. The kitchen was well stocked. The outdoor areas were fun and relaxing. We loved our stay and highly recommend!

Great Winter Weekend in Tahoe
We rented this cabin on a January weekend and had a wonderful time! The cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable. There was plenty of firewood available for a roaring fire to stay warm. Also, the selection of board games kept us entertained in the evenings. The cabin is perfectly located close to plenty of restaurants and skiing. We rented skis from Tahoe Dave's in Tahoe City which was on the way to Alpine Meadows. The owners provided an excellent book with great recommendations on local restaurants and other activities in the area. We definitely plan to rent this cabin again!

Great Tahoe Gem
My family stayed here for Thanksgiving and had a most enjoyable time. The house is cozy but also spacious for our 6 people and 2 dogs. We got pounded by 2 feet of snow on the drive up and Steve had the driveway plowed early the next morning so we could get to and from the house. He was also very responsive to emails on the lead-up to our stay. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a true Tahoe experience - it was 15 mins from Northstar and 2 mins from the lake. Beautiful!
The cabin was laid out and organized well. The host communicated clearly and responded quickly, and all directions were clear.
It was located in a nice quiet neighborhood, but still just a short drive from a number of activities. There was plenty of room for our family of 4 and a little larger group would still be comfortable there as we didn't even need to use two of the bedrooms.
There were a lot of windows, which was nice for natural light, and watching the snow fall. The dining area and living room were open for easy communication, but there was another living area for when kids wanted to do something different.
Overall, this cabin worked really well for us, and I would recommend it.

Cozy Cabin!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! It exceeded our expectations on all it had to offer. We originally planned on staying in one of the lodges in Tahoe, but after doing some research on VRBO we found this cozy cabin and we were so happy with it. The location was very convenient to everything. Steve and his family really went out of their way to provide so much information on where to go and restaurants to visit. This made our trip so much easier for to get around and enjoy ourselves! Everything was so clean and it felt like home. When we weren't out exploring Tahoe we were able to enjoy the cabin and all of the board games, beautiful porch and outdoor games they have. We really had a great experience and would definitely go back!

Enjoyed our family ski trip
We stayed at this home on our first ski trip of the season. It was super comfortable and we were able to entertain the adults and kids alike. We skied at Northstar and Squaw, both resorts being within a comfortable driving distance, and relaxed in the evenings with raucous games of Monopoly and cards. Highly recommended!
The only minor suggestion I'd make is to upgrade to a larger TV. Watching the Lord of the Rings on a VHS tape in the smaller TV was a novel experience. :)

Just what we needed!
We (2 adults + 2 kids) stayed at this chalet for 5 nights. Cute chalet with everything we needed. Close to the lake, Safeway, forest. Loved the beer mugs waiting for us in the freezer! Enjoyed reading the notes throughout the house. They were good reminders. The fireplace was definitely the place to gather around after a day of skiing. Even our dog did! Everything was clean and well decorated. You could definitely feel that the owners DO care about their place. We will definitely come back in the future! Thanks!

Cozy Log Cabin Retreat
Our group of five (plus a dog) spent the long weekend at this cabin and couldn't be happier! The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and common spices so we ended up cooking most of our meals and then enjoying it in the dining room with a spectacular view. The many available beds meant that everyone in our large party was accommodated very comfortably. A wealth of board games entertained us in the evenings and Steve had mapped out numerous trails nearby for our hikes. (There is a large binder of things to do in the area to offer some additional inspiration!) The only time we needed the car was to drive to Safeway - we ended up walking everywhere else. We loved the little notes all over the cabin and the lived-in feel made the place extra cozy. Thank you for opening up your home to us and we'd love to return for a future visit.

Our family loves the outdoors. Tahoe offers 4 seasons of some of the best weather and natural settings on the planet. Our cabin is ideally located to take advantage of all the year round fun that the Tahoe region and Lake Tahoe have to offer. We are in the midst of world class skiing resorts, including x-country & backcountry skiing right out the back door. Our favorite beaches and restaurants are a 20 minute walk with boat & kayak launches even closer by car. Nothing better than relaxing after a day of outdoor fun next to a cozy warm fire with friends and family!
Why they chose this property
The cabin is 20 minutes from Northstar, Incline Village, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, 25-30 minutes from Homewood, Tahoe Donner and Mt Rose, 35 minutes from all Soda Springs Resorts (Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, etc.) The cabin is a 5 minute walk to the Lake. The cabin has direct & easy access to backcountry wilderness for hiking & skiing.
What makes this property unique
Great family setting, very private and in the woods. Outdoor kids play area for badminton, bocce and croquet. Huge sunny deck with protected BBQ area for summer & winter use. Warm comfortable classic all wood interior, all newer furnishings, stone wood burning fireplace, separate playroom from LR & lots of windows.
